Hi. a friend has a problem with her DS.

using an R4 card with no problems for months, then she thinks her son may have taken out the card when the game was switched on.

now, the DS wont read the flash cart (or any other working flash cart) BUT will read original DS games.

any clues anyone????????

The paper trick is just putting a bit of paper underneath the cart when in the DS slot, to make sure the contacts on the cart meet the DS contacts.

paper trick=the trick of taping a thin piece of paper to the back of your flashcart. Flashcarts are usually a bit thinner than original gamecards, so sometimes they don't connect. The paper trick might solve this.
EDIT: darn it protokun7 you beat me to the pawnch.

The paper trick should work

It is the generic method applied when you think that your Flashcard (regardless of what type) doesn't seem to work.

Please more information , if you turn you ds on , you'l just see a loading screen ? right ? , keep it freezing on the loading screen ? or does the r4 really can't connect on the ds ?

Have you tried:

1. reformatting the microSD card
2. a different microSD card
If it won't show in the DS BIOS itself, then it's unlikely to be a microSD fault, but more likely a cart/contact fault. I think microSD faults would allow the cart to be started and maybe load, but not to stop it showing up altogether.

Where do you get that gem of info from? Because it's wrong.

Insert a flash card without a microSD to see for yourself, it just does not show up.

i HAVE tried a different cart/card combo trhat i know works, but that still doesnt read it either. i think it must be a hardware fault on the ds

*Takes microSD out of flashcart and boots up DS menu*
Nope, works for me

Maybe carts with internally stored firmware are better than ones that run solely off of microSD's

Only problem with that is that commercial games carts work...

I think Proto may be right, the flashcart itself has died. As for contacts, seems odd that it would only get these problems later on. Methinks the card has died.

Given that it's apparently an R4, it may be a clone, or maybe an original, but a low build quality would mean that it would die sooner or later.
