Thanks for the information dude! This got NSMBWii working for me! I am at world 2 now!
You should note that for Softmod Users that boot via Disk Loader, they need cIOS rev14 and the .DOL you explained how to make. Make a NeoGamma folder at the root of the SDCard and place the patched MAIN.DOL file there. Rename it to NSBE0(I think) and the insert it into the Wii.
Turn on the wii and then go to;
HBC>NeoGamma>Config and make the following true;
Alt DOL STORAGE
Storage SD Card
Load the game and enjoy!

NOTE! I am using Wii Menu 3.3U results may vary system menu to system menuy

Other than the boot2 update (which wipes out BootMii as boot2, if installed...), you have nothing to fear. The game does indeed carry the 4.1 update (safety not guaranteed for the MIA Japanese release).

Ok so everyone is aware, I will post how mine is working.

C rev 15
uloader 3.1
Patched ISO with main.dol
3.2u w/ Starfall, etc

No wii key for me, no hardware mods, just all soft mods.

Alright. I've been reading this long post for days.

I have a 3.4U nstc wii, with wiikey1 and decided to softmod the machine to be able to play this game (and use usb loaders to stop burning discs)

Used these steps to mod : http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-154/4_...2_guide-797772/

Using that I installed HBC, bootmii, used these from nusd to get waninkoko 249 thing
IOS15-64-v257.wad
IOS15-64-v266.wad
IOS36-64-v3094.wad
IOS38-64-v3610.wad

then made my wii 4.0U. then patched the IOS60 as directed.

So....i've tried cfg, neogamma, wiiflow, usb loader gx. last versions i could find. The rest of games tested work fine, so i know the USB loaders are working.

but for nsmb....same result all the time, when hitting A to finally load the game....a damn black screen (is it the same green screen some say?). Used the error 2 fix option, in combination with force ntsc, or just one or the other...no luck

I use this one ws_nsmbw_ntsc.iso i downloaded last week. I also patched the dol myself using hex editor....no good.

Anyone with the same that could gimme a piece of advice. kinda frustrated here......

You need IOS53 Trucha patched also, NSMB uses it.

QUOTE(moximoore @ Nov 22 2009, 08:35 PM) Okay...This is just insane. I think I'll just wait for a Wiikey update or something. Going through all this just makes me bitter.

I'm afraid there will never be a Wiikey update.

Got it working on Wiikey v1 with NeoGamma (R8 beta 12) and cios rev 14. Worked very well through Neogamma on 4.0U and then I updated to 4.1U through disc, and now when I turn on the wii it automatically gives me an error if I attempt to start it through disc channel, or if I do not hurry and click on HBC. I am able to quickly click on HBC and then Neogamma and load the game still, but it will give me the error if I wait long enough in the menu. It's the generic error "An error has occurred. Press eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii Console off and refer to the wii operations manual for help troubleshooting." I've also got "Wii System Files are Corrupt" one time randomly.

Anyone know if there is a way to have it stop giving me the error on this menu screen? I am completely confused. I can't really access anything now because of this. I can still play the game, but nothing else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

For you chipped guys, try installing only the HBC and run Neogamma from it. That's all I did and the game runs great. Didn't install any IOS, cIOS, or patches.
are you sure about this?

I have a wiikey on 4.1 U and just installed hbc and neogamma r8 beta 15. i launched the game from the dvd and i still get the error 3-5 minutes in the game. are there certain settings I need in neogamma?

is your mario patched or unpatched?

thanks

My setup:

4.1U with YAOSM
HBC, bootmii/boot2, neogamma r8 beta7
unpatched rom

I'm sure that I didn't install anything else. All I did was run bannerbomb to get the HBC so I could run neogamma. Try using beta7 instead of beta15. If that doesn't work then it could be because we are using different modchips.

For those with Drivekey hardmod:

NSMBW won´t run with it. Trying to run NSMBW with uloader 3.1 after softmodding your wii doesn´t work either, softmod/hardmod conflict.
To work around this you have to disable the Drivekey. (press eject 3 times to get to the Drivekey menu, then hold reset to disable)

The game will then run fine with uloader 3.1 and ios249.

Yes, I'm afraid it will run fine with Drivekey+Softmodding. And NO, you shouldn't disable your chip. In fact, it runs fine with disc-channel, but ONLY if your soft-modded as well. Something else is causing your problems in that situation.

So what version of the ISO and what cios should I use in order to work with drivekey/disc channel? I'm using a patched ISO and ios r15 with uloader 3.1

haha just started it up for the first time, green screen when trying to launch it from a USB loader channel (yano, the method where you take opening.bnr and change the hex in 0000001.app from one ID to the game ID you want to load, pack it into a wad then install it to the wii?) that was with a patched main.dol ISO using the same method as instructed on the first page.

then i tried through Uloader with the same patched ISO and loaded using Hermes IOS222 37 merged 38 (i think) and it works flawlessly, no lag, no glitching, just got past 1-5 and saved successfully. i cant see anything wrong so far.

of course, i'd rather be loading it from my USB loader through the SD card menu, but oh well, least it works

EDIT: if it makes any difference, i've also got all the cIOS from cIOSCORP 3.4 installed and cIOSrev_12 (been a while since i installed em so i dont remember properly

) and have FW 4.1
