hey people..

So yesterday i installed Cios38 rev14 on the IOS249 using internet install.
Before doing this, both usbloader gx and neogamma r8 could load up games from my hdd.

Now after updating cios38 from rev10 to rev14, none of the applications can find the hdd.

I'm on system 4.2E with a D2C Chip

Any suggestions/solutions? Thanks

---EDIT---

So i tried connecting a usb stick instead and that worked out fine. Why all of the sudden doesn't the hdd work with the rev14?

I have a modchip in my wii (Wiikey v1 with that latest update from a while ago). I want to play NSMB but apparantly the way to do that is through Neogamma. I dont have the cIOS249 but since Im not softmodded, is it necessary? Can I burn the game on DVD and just use Neogamma to load off DVD since its hardmodded?

Here are some quick questions I couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for:

What exactly is neogamma? Is it more relelated to Wiigator's Backup Loader or the USB Loader? Also, which is better to use: USB Loader 1.1 or GX? And what is the difference between those two?

Sorry, I haven't been paying attention to the Wii scene for quite some time.. Apparently Wiigator's backup loader must be outdated or something.

I'm trying to use a USB loader for the first time, but all this IOS installation stuff is scary and I've not idea which I should be trying to use, there's so many choices and situations (still using firmware 4.0)

I'm just interesting in trying New Super Mario Bros Wii because I'm interested in seeing how USB Loaders work and if they're easy or not, the game is definitely on my to-buy list anyway.

Anyway, I have an old 60gb 5th gen iPod video I plan to use, and the wiki says that the 30gb model works, think that'll work?

Edit: Apparently I'd have to format the iPod for use with the USB loader, sounds like a bad idea.
So instead I'm using this old 4gb Sandisk Cruzer which seems to be working fine.

I followed the USB Loader GX guide and got it working fine, my NSMBW iso failed to load (possibly because it was patched?), but my ripped Pikmin 2 iso worked fine.

I should be fine, it was actually easier than I had thought, so long as you follow the instructions.

Reformatted Comp, Cant Burn Now.
So heres the thing. I've had my Wii softmodded for about a year or two now, my old laptop burnt my backup copies fine, they all played O.K. Now Im using a new computer(laptop), At first it wouldn't burn the game proper(DVD read error etc.) So I bought DVD -R discs instead of DVD +R. Worked great. Then I reformatted the computer and now all the backups I burn Dont work. I wasted about 11 discs trying to burn a working copy. Tried Different Burners (Nero, Imgburn) At different speeds. None worked. With cioscorp it doesnt recognize disc, Gecko Dvd read error, Neogamma error -1027.

All my other games work fine, Originals and one I made a backup of previously.
USB loader works fine.

Would be nice to burn to disc again though.
Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I've been out of the Wii scene for a while now and only now reading up on USB loaders.

I'm keen to try it out but have a couple of quick questions.

1) Can I use a USB loader with a modchip at the same time? Currently I have a WiiKey 1 installed. I heard it may cause some problems with dumping disks?
2) Is there any need to upgrade to a newer system menu? I know not to upgrade to 4.2 but I currently have 3.1 installed.

Thanks alot

Hi there

This my 1st post on the forum and would like some help with my Wii
smile.gif

Here are my console's details and the software I'm currently using:

Hardware
Firmware 3.2e

Software
Homebrew Channel
Backup Loader Gamma002fix_r2
Backup Loader v03 beta

I have found that I am unable to play some titles eg:

Super Mario Bros
Beatles
Cars O Rama

and would like to know what I need to do/update my console in order to do this.

I am using a SDCard to run the applications to playback discs in the console.

Thanks in advance!!

One Quick question about burning ISOs to DVDs:

What speed (on IMGBurn) should I use for Wii Games?

I've done it with GC games at 2x speed & they've been fine, but I s'pose that's different as that's be in GC Mode, right?

Also, while I'm here, what's the usual size for Wii ISOs?

I've tended to think it was in the 4-5gb size, but I've seen some at like...2-3, while Metroid P' Trilogy is like 7+ gb - I understand it varies from game to game, but I'm just curious what the usual size is.

Thanks for reading - hope I can get a quick reply!

EDIT - Also, when downloading Wii Games in Torrents (my Comp' can't read Wii discs to make backups y'see) & .RARs, when they're split into multiple parts, how do I get the ISO from them? 'Cos at the moment I've got a load of RAR parts & don't know what to do.

Hi GBAtemp,
I have Wii with old Infectus Argon 1.6 modchip and my Wii version is 4.2E. Homebrew channel 1.0.6 is installed
and it shows text IOS61 v21.29. My goal is to play backup games from USB or/and get the NeoGamma working on my Wii.
I just downloaded latest NeoGammaR8beta12.

What i have to yet install/do to get NeoGamma working in my setup and play games from USB/Disc? I'm little confused
with those IOS/cIOS "things".

If i just start NeoGamma from SD with HBC, screen goes black and doesn't do anything.

Some cases such as SSBB and Metroid prime trilogy are only for dual layer discs. That is why they are bigger.
Otherwise the standard size for a wii iso is 4,589,824kb or 4,699,979,776 bytes
And burning wii games at lowest speed is always best.

Hi,
I'm not new in console modding scene, but this Wii softmodding is new world to me.
I'm curious about couple of things. Is it always like this, that when new game is
released you have to install new cIOS(:es) etc. do lots of updating / patching,
untill you get your game work?

I remember when i first modded XBox and it was wonderful when you could
just transfer games etc. to Xbox:s harddrive with FTP and just play.

But correct if i'm not right in this current Wii softmodding situation:
You can have games on external USB-drive and play them from Wii, without
swapping discs, but when new games comes, it is possible that you have to
install new cIOS(:es) and those can effect your earlier installed games and make
them unplayable (cause changed cIOS)?

Hi all,

My wii has firmware version 4.1 and I'm trying to install rawksd to import my Rock Band songs to play from one disc.

I am able to (rawksd)patch but when I try to run rawksd installer, it says there is an error.

I have a saved game in Rock Band 2 as people mention.

Can anyone help a new guy and talk me through where I might be going wrong?

Thanks

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place :S nearly the same as post above

Ok I got a 3.2 Wii with a D2proV2 and several IOS** on it, been trying to get a Configurable to recognise my Pen drive* but it'll get to the search part where it times out after 30 sec and then I have to reset the wii.

*I'm using a Fat32 usb Pen drive and an Wfbs converted Image

**To my knowledge I havent installed Hermes 222/223 or IOS249, seen a guide(http://gwht.wikidot.com/ios249) and it covers 3.3 and above but doesnt specifically say 3.2 and below

So my Main question is do I have to upgrade to 3.3 or 4.2?
