Steps:
•Extract cBoot2.rar•Extract try this 1st.rar•Copy the files extracted (bootmii, boot.dol, and startup.elf onto the root of your SD card. (Make sure you backup your old BootMii folder and files before doing this as it will copy over them.
•Copy the IOS249.wad file you created with NUSD inside of the wad folder on your SD card.
•Put SD card into Wii.
•Launch HBC, press Home, Load BootMii.
•cBoot2 will automatically launch and you will see Wad Manager 1.4
•Press A
•Choose Wii SD
•Select IOS249.wad
•Press A
•Left arrow
•Select uninstall WAD
•Press A to complete the uninstall.
•Press Home to return to system menu.
•Carry on with the guide (You can skip the first steps about getting HomeBrew/BootMii)
Note: 4.2 installed a stubbed IOS249, which has absolutely no purpose except to stop cIOS38rev14 from writing to that location. Removing it fixes the issue.

if i do this with my 1.1 wii with hbc what is the possibility of it being bricked??

100% brick rate if you don't intend on reading and understanding before doing. That section says in big letters right above it, "4.2" Do you have a 4.2 Wii? You just said you had 1.1. So, yes, you will brick your Wii if you keep up that strategy.

On the other hand, if you actually go down to the section that doesn't say 4.2 on the top and follow those steps, it should work fine. Although I'd recommend upgrading to 4.1 first with Wanin's updater.

Holy! I almost got a heart attack...

I have a LU65 3.4u Wii, Installed HBC/Bootmi (as ios). Since preloader is a must to avoid bricking i need to update the ios36...Downloaded the TBR thing to my sd card, and started to watch the video. First it gave me a http timeout error few secs later a Exception DSI Ocurred...Well i tought i bricked my wii, thanks god i didnt but really, im too scared to do anything else...

Anyone can help? Thanks

edit 1: Well i tried to run TBR again but all i get is a god damned blackscreen (when i launch it from HBC, the Console is not bricked..yet)
edit 2: Re-formatted the SD Card, installed TBR again, tried again, same http timeout error followed by a super cool Exception DSI.
edit 3: Tried offline instalation, looks like my IOS 15 is Rev 523...but aint this one for 4.2 firmware? Why the hell do i have this one?
Anyone?

Hey guys, I have a virgin 4.0e wii and i'm stuck at the step patching ios36 "use 15 to patch 36" gives me an error and won't continue?? Any ideas? Thanks for the tut.

EDIT: Nevermind, simply followed the steps again, and it worked...

Hi guys. I modified my Wii using an older version of this guide. A while ago I think I used Wakinoko's updater to bring it up to 4.0 or 4.1. I think this may have erased Preloader from my console. The current version is 4.1E.

I was thinking of following the guide from the beginning to install all the utilities (Preloader, BootMii and so on) as well as to make a NAND backup. The old guide didn't have this step and I think I could use a backup just in case.

So my question is: is it safe for me to go through the guide again without any changes to what I have right now (HBC, cIOS38 r14)? Also, I can't use the shop right now -- is there any safe way for me to use it at the moment?

Is it safe to install BootMii if your Wii has the serial number LU 30136xxx-x and you have 4.2U updated?

I'll just play back ups thru HBC.

UPDATE: FUCK!! There are so many things to do before playing back-ups. DO I need to patch the thing or will proceed in the cios installation? i got bootmii as boot2.

there are 3 bad blocks while baking up the nand.. almost finish.

Okay! I know, mi Wii (4.2U(waninkoko)) is completely stupid sometimes...

I can't get either Preloader 3.0 or Priiloader working (they don't find the hack.ini), but preloader 2.9 works perfectly. (i made a 1:1 copy of the hacks.ini from the wiibrew page (except that mine had U/E/J already on it, i checked the 481(U) offsets and all's OK)

Reaaly weird... ~~In fact, i edited the file with DSOrganize (shared 2GB microSD card) then saved, and all worked... so..~~{DSOrganize sucks Now i must find a file not hosted on mediafire nor rapidshare (can't access a pc anymore)}. Anyone knows why? And if i REALLY need to install 3.0/priiloader since 2.9 works 100% ?
Nice tutorial, finally I know one in english that I will be able to link to ppl in the need !

P.S. I heavily use Pimp My Wii, so I *recommend* it as an alternative to Trucha bug Restorer. (as v1.31, it allows you to downgrade IOS15)

Thank you very much for all the help.Older version of this guide is an inaccurate statement. Any other guides you see are merely other versions of this guide, not older versions. =)
If you follow the guide over from the beginning you'll be fine. It'll just overwrite anything old you have on there with new stuff. Just don't do the 4.2 steps since you don't have 4.2.

Not if you read the guide and use the safe 4.1 updater.

Of course it's safe. Follow the part for 4.2 to get everything going. You will likely need to patch ios36 before your stuff will function properly.
The bad blocks are normal, don't worry about 'em.

PreLoader .30 should work fine if your PreLoader .29 worked. .30 isn't necessary unless you have the new HBC channel named JODI instead of HAXX because .29 doesn't know about JODI and will never load it.

got an error while installing Cios but it's finnish successfully. It's a 10XX something error. I can install the NeoGamma channel independently. And now it's black screen. I dont have any back up disk, perhaps, I need some back up disk so I can open NeoGamma.

I'm not really sure where you got that quote from, but it sounds like you got one of the autoboot channels. Which means it'll try to load your disk with the default settings without giving you the option to change anything. So.. without the disk, it tries to load and nothing is there.

I guess the simple answer to your question would be, yes. The disk does need to be in the Wii when you launch the channel or it's not going to work.

good to hear that it's on auto-mode. I thought I messed my Wii but thank God (Christianity) I succeeded in hacking my Wii thanks to your guide with some modifications like updating something. some of the files are not compatible but with a stroke of Google I found the 4.2 update compatible.

So I need a back up disk to change the setting? im going to buy later as it's easier than downloading. my country is full of pirated CD/DVD/games. lol

I downloaded the All region hacks.ini from a topic here, and everything worked fine... maybe i'll try Priiloader...(I updated/deleted and re-installed HBC many times, but it loads from .29..... oh.. wait... maybe i have both versions... not sure..)

im trying SoftChip as it works with the current situation. I still cant play back up discs. I tried my wii sports and it works. perhaps the custom IOS must be installed.

i dont have the TRY THIS 1ST.RAR file and i dont have the boot.dol file used to load cboot2. any help is appreciated.

i got the cboot2 folder but there are no more files added

Great guide but you should add more files needed. I googled some files to make it work.

OVERALL GREAT GUIDE. NO BULLSHIT OR ANYTHING. My Wii has not yet bricked on this guide.
