Hiya.
I've been kind of curious about this for a while: Is it possible to bring my Wii back to a "clean state"-- that is, plain v4.1 with just HBC and BootMii as boot2?
Currently, my Wii has all sorts of hacks inside it, such as CIOSCORP (an unknown older version), cMIOS with the ability to load Action Replay, various little remnants of older hacks, a few different backup loaders...

I'd like to be able to just wipe most (if not all) of that out and start fresh. Also, I've heard something about being able to emulate the Wii's NAND with an SD card? I'd rather like to do that as well, since that way I can have my hacks for myself, and a default Wii setup for my mom, when she wants to play her Wii Fit Plus
wink.gif

If you fine folks could help me out with this, it'd be great, thanks~

CIOSCORP has a uninstaller that will exercise your Wii like a catholic priest to a school girl. it installs all the ninty firmware as if you had never done anything to the Wii. you have CIOSCORP installedso this would be the way to go.

Er. I wasn't aware that there was a CIOSCORP uninstaller for the older versions, I thought it was only for cIOSCORP (the most recent type of this hack)... I'm not fully sure what version of CIOSCORP I have installed, but I know it's not the most recent.

Guys I have a quick questions that I can't seem to find the answer to.

Changing the shops region to US from PAL.

1. If I do this, will anything unstable happen?

2. Can I change back and forth? US to PAL, PAL to US?

3. Will I lose everybody votes data? If I do can't I just install those channels via wads?

4. And will the games I installed via wads be affected?

Here you go Supakitsune straight from the thread

How to uninstall it:
Fisrt of all, DON'T DELETE ANY IOS!!! YOU WILL (most likely) KILL
YOUR WII IF YOU DO!!! Rather, the IOS must be OVERWRITTEN with
official, unmodified IOS. Just download one of the cIOSCORP v3.4
Uninstall packages, copy it to your SD Card, and run the uninstaller
via the Homebrew Channel. MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT ONE!
If you are not sure which one is the correct one, just use the
"cIOSCORP v3.4 Uninstall (LU64)" package. The link for the download
can be obtained by emailing [email protected] (along with the
cIOSCORP v3.4 download link)

A compatibility list has also been included in the package. Open the
"cIOSCORP v3.4 compatibility.xls" file, or "cIOSCORP v3.4
compatibility.xhtml" file if you can't open .xls files.

The official cIOSCORP v3.4 package can always be found by emailing
[email protected]. If you get it from anywhere else, it might
not be the official package, and could be corrupted. A member of
wii website repackaged a previous version and distributed their
package, which (accidentally) had a corrupted IOS30. So be sure
to grab the official version!

What? preloader has a "region free channels" hack to do just that. play channels from any region no need for you to get to technical buddy.

... Listen, we just went over this. I've seen that thread already. It is NOT the version I have! I have a OLDER VERSION!
Unless you are trying to tell me to upgrade to this and then uninstall it? If so, be a little more clear about it next time, please...

ok take it easy. all the info to make an informed decision is there. i'd like to help but i i can't tell you which steps to take if you don't know which cIOSCORP you're running.

Short answer, yeah i do suggest an update followed by uninstall.

ppl once had the version of cIOSCORP you have now which ever that is.
they updated and so can you.

sorry for the run around.

I want to change channel regions for GH 5 song hacks. NTSC version of game can't see songs in PAL shop unless it's US shop. The hacks only work for NTSC version of the game.

i have a 3.2U wii... korean converted to US...

i just wanna ask if

1. is it safe to assume that all tutorials that say "this only works for USA and Eur Wiis, not Jap or Kor" will work for me? although recently, i think all of them are now saying "this works for ALL Wiis", but i'm just curious in case i run into it again..

2. there's a way to know if it's softmod or hardmodded without opening it up? it was a gift but the one who gave it to me doesn't know anything about wiis (she just bought the cheapest)

it plays all my pirated games.. but not all backups (tried experimenting at any speed... i only use verbatim.. to no avail..) and games work on USB loader cfg40, so far... and.. yea, i'm so a noob that i don't even know what version of HBC it has, do i need a new one?..... and, i was also successful in installing and playing ocarina of time, majora's mask, internet channel, and world of goo...

thanks....

also.... can i update it to 4.1/4.2 even without knowing if there's a chip inside or not?

thanks again....

Just wanted to add that I softmodded my Wii successfully. Can play everything on my USB HDD now without any problems in both Wiiflow and MPlayer CE. Case closed. Now all I have to do is wait until SNES9X GX gets updated so it can run on DVDX v2.

Shouldn't take that long, Tantric releases updates very quick for his emulators.

Brand new to the site and to modding...just got a wii and it is running 3.4. Should I upgrade it to 4.2 or leave it alone before I soft mod?

ow man, i fucked it up this time!

i accidentally installed a stub version of IOS249 on my Wii, and now the wii is freaking, usbloader gx doesn't work anymore, and i can't install/uninstall anything anymore, because they all require IOS249 to work.
i tried it with anytitledeleter, but it asks me to pick the IOS to use, and then I pick IOS249, and the Wii just blocks.
i tried it with IOS 55, but it doesn't work, errors all the time.

What now?

also, if i restore my nand via a bootmii backup, will my game progress be lost?
like i made a backup last week, if i restore it now, will all my game progress be lost of this week?

Definitely stay on 3.4! Don't upgrade to 4.2, softmodding your Wii will get much harder then.

Hope you enjoy your stay here.
If you have any questions, please make sure you search first and read the tutorials first.

Its not that much harder anymore
The only difference is that you have to delete some stub IOS (and use IOS70 instead of 60)
Thats all

xzxeros guide works the best
my guide (to be released very soon) works too

We got a problem after exactly following this guide: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfwvk5sg_60chp4jqf6#

We upgraded PreLoader to 0.30r3 after installing 0.29 b/c the HBC link didn't work otherwise.

After installing DOP-IOS v8 we get the error: "ES_Diverfiy failed" and PreLoader comes up, but we are unable to access the System menu.

We have a complete NAND Backup but are unsure what to do next.

We already tried reinstalling PreLoader 0.30r3 as proposed in the guide mentioned above but that didn't help.

Apart from IOS60 we DOPed 36 and 21 as well.

Please help
unsure.gif

EDIT: OK it works again by setting System IOS to 249 in Preloader, but I don't understand why, can anyone explain this to me please?
Does 249 redirect to 60 with a deactivated check???
