Should you still need another tester I'll offer my services.

About Me

I tend to be O.C.D. about spelling and grammatical errors. While I may only be in high school I have taken every A.P. English course that was offered, passed them all with A's, and I will go on to be an English major once I find a nice college. Other than that I'm not sure of what to type other than I am well versed in the English vernacular and I'm getting better with my German.

I have been following this game quite closely for a long time now. I'd be overjoyed for a chance to beta test. Here's a bit about me:

I am a grammar Nazi, a straight-A student in English, and I have a special knack for finding punctuation errors. Besides my qualifications, I'm dating the girl of my dreams, and I'm only waiting for some steady work before I propose. My favorite game genres are 2D fighters, RPGs, tactical RPGs, and action-shooters. My motto and favorite quote is, "The problem with making things foolproof is that people often greatly underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." -Douglas Adams.

In conclusion, I'm the man for the job. And please, ignore my small post count. I've lurked here for years.
I didn't think telling your life story was a requirement for being a beta tester. Lol.

"To sign up as a beta tester:
1. Post A reply on this thread. NO PMs PLEASE. Don't post more than one requests because then I will simply ignore you.

2. Please write a paragraph introducing yourselves.

3. I need people who are actually speak English well... not some 13 year old wanting to play ASH in English.

4. I'll PM the people that are chosen as a beta tester.

I know that I'm doing things the hard way (just could have done a public beta) but I don't want an unfinished patch released in the public."

Reading comprehension is a requirement for a beta tester. (#2)

I think of it this way. The more people ignore the requirement and post whatever they wish the more the people who actually deserve stand out.

I'd like to work as a beta tester.

I registered about three minutes ago just so that I could apply. I was an English major in college, and have my BA, so spelling and grammar are second nature. I read constantly, having a collection of books numbering in the hundreds.

Usually, I go straight to the last page, which explains why I didn't see that. It wasn't there before. Anyway, I wasn't trying to offend you. I just come here for the laughs.

psycoblaster, I think you should mention a requirement in the #1 post that beta testers should be English teachers or college students who take major in English grammar. ASH full translation is a very very serious project, you don't want high school students (or lower) to check the grammar. This is just a suggestion

I actually agree with ShinRyouma's idea but a lot of teachers aren't really into games and I have an older brother who goes to University and he is good at English but he doesn't seem to have much time on his hands but it may be different for other university student but Psyco, i think you should have people in college and English teachers as BETA testers as this translation seems to be very well done and many of us don't want it to be ruined by some people who lie about themselves being very good at English ( not pointing any fingers ).

You know... This thread is cool simply because it is getting a lot of random people to talk about themselves.

I do hope that the script will maintain any personality a character may or may not have in their speech. I know such a thing is asking for much when it is a fan-translation, especially when the script is huge, but just throwing it out there.

If you need any other beta testers, I'd be happy to.

As you said, you're mostly looking to correct grammatical errors; I think I could help with that.

I've always been good with English, to the point that even a teacher started calling me uptight.

That said, I'm not TOO uptight that I'd take out any humor or nuances to a character's speech patterns. I think those are more important than little spelling mistakes, anyway.

Of course, I also really want to play a good RPG. Chances are I'll have it finished within a week.

Isn't the BETA testers suppose to look for grammatical errors and bugs or something like that?

So, in order to get in beta testing, should I write a whole book about me, or just a few words...?
biggrin.gif

I'm a French (hardcore RPG-)player and would love to help with testing (and possibly play this game in English...

)

Once again, congratulations on the great work!
