This worked to flip my HBC from being up-side-down. Still no 249 to select in step 3. Can some tell me how to add 249 so that it's available in DOP-IOS?

Same problem here. Virgin Wii (3.4E), installed everything from [1] and [2] without problems.
With step [3]
QUOTE3] Run Dop-IOS MOD
Choose IOS249 and press A.
there's no IOS249 to select.

Anyone?

There should be - I just did the same on virgin 3.4E Wii. When you start the Dop-IOS MOD, what do you get? It should be a disclaimer first and then the selection screen for the starting IOS. If you are using the Wii Remote to do everything, keep in mind, that it functions a bit differently (at least for me) than the GC controller. When you start the Dop-IOS MOD, there should be a selection screen, where with the +Control Pad you can select (left/right arrows) the starting IOS. After that, when you press the A button on the Wiimote it suddenly asks to install IOS36. Just to be sure, press the B button and it will take you to the main screen of dop-IOS, where you can select what to install. Just follow the instructions.

If you are using the GC gamepad, everything should function normally and after the selection of the starting IOS (via the D-pad and A button again) it should bring you to the main screen of dop-IOS.

And about the Flipped screen thing - just uninstall the HBC (via the bannerbomb) after you are done with Dop-IOS MOD, and install it again. It takes a couple of seconds.

If you still don`t have the IOS249 - you probably missed something along the way. And btw did you do a NAND backup? If no - do it!

I doublechecked. On the SD-card is Dop-IOS by default, not Dop-IOS MOD. I downloaded and added that one and checked again.

With Dop-IOS MOD, I can select IOS249 to use for installing IOSs. However, when I try to do the first one (IOS53), it shows me that at current v4113 is installed and gives me the option to install the latest v5406 of said IOS. Pressing A to continue gives me the screen with the two confirmation questions (install and check hash) for about 0.5 seconds and then scrambles the text shown. I can still press A once, which results into another srambled line on screen and the Wii returns to the HBC. Checking the version of IOS53 with Dop-IOS MOD again shows it didn't update...

(ps. yes, I did do a NAND backup..)

[edit] Just took the risk and used the default Dop-IOS to dop my IOSs. Seems to have worked, as Dop-IOS MOD also shows different version numbers now. Gonna see how far this'll take me.

I've been trying to get my backup and iso DVDs to play on my LU39 4.2.
Have tried every trick from most of the guides... sh|t doesn't work.

@xzxero - i completed your 4.2 instructions down to the T + After modding.
Only step i didn't do was the optional step 7 MIOSpatcher, as i don't have a GC controller, and the optional step 8.

Tried 2 different versions of NeoGammaR7 and one R8.

Every time i load a backup disc, it gives an error "Dvd read error 1101"

Anybody got any clue? Is it the LU39 problem? Anybody got this working using this guide on a LU39?
I get the same error message and have been having the same probelms....Im using DVD+R
Giong out to buy some DVD-R hoping that solves my probelms...

That`s impossible

I have Dop-IOS MOD by default... Did you make structure and all the contents of your SD card yourself or used the email option of xzxero? I did the latter just this morning, I doubt that there was a change in the archive during these 8 hourse difference ... Anyways, I don`t know what might`ve caused that screen scrambling... but why don`t you try leaving everything at this point and start over again...? I mean, there is something wrong with the contents of your SD card if it shows Dop-IOS by defaylt. Download the right version for you from the email and then (after backing up your current contents of the SD card), format it, copy the new stuff and try again by doing the steps from the beginning (with the initial installations of course)... Just a thought.

Hopefully you (we) won`t be needing that backup anytime soon.

Edit: Strange... Dop-IOS by default.. Anyways - good luck!

Fraid so: empty SD-card, never fiddled with Dop-IOS before either.
In Modpal.rar (downloaded about 2 days ago), there's "3] Dop-IOS" which is Dop-IOS v7 by Marc. Manually added Dop-IOS MOD myself afterwards.

Everything seems to work by the way: system menu is at 4.1E, Homebrew Channel works perfectly, everything runs fine (as far as I can tell)

mine always does that too, but i'm using a wiimote. Also, once i finished dopping ios 53, it asked me to install it again lol, same with ios 55, but just canceled it and all was fine

i know someone who had that error message, but it was his modchip that got borked.

Not too sure if I'm right but isn't pressing "-" for IOS60 selecting an older build which is not a stub..
wow, thanks for the fast reply!
so nintendo still keeps their old non-stub IOS on their servers? I thought they had it removed to, you know... screw us.
well i might try dopping it once i feel courageous enough...

just hypothetically speaking, if it really does download and install a stub ios60, and me having a corrupted system message but still with preloader working, does anyone here have any idea on how to fix it?

I followed the 4.2U procedure and it worked. I could play games off dvd disks. However, I could not get the USB loader to work for several usb loaders I tried.
So I started freshly to do the 4.2U hacking procedure again. But this time, it is stuck at step 5. The blue light in the DVDrom flashing and no buttons respond. I had to turn off the wii and turn it back on. Step 5 is about the USB2 support, so I think I messed it up somewhere. Can you guys help me out? As a Wii virgin, I do not even know how to get my wii back to a virgin 4.2u, so I can do a real fresh softmod. Thank you so much!

5] Run cIOS Installer for USB2
Choose IOS 249 for installation.
Press A to start installing IOS 202.
Return to Homebrew Channel.

Took the jump to go from a 3.2U twilight-hacked box to a 4.1U box with this method. Very nerve-wracking, but it all worked out just fine. The clearest instructions around since the old dj_taz guide which I used back on 3.2.

TBR did put up a warning that if I was already on 3.2, I should NOT do the downgrade of IOS15/replace IOS36/etc, because I was already correctly trucha bugged (obviously, since it was already twilight hacked). So I skipped that set of steps. I'm unclear what the impact, if any, of skipping this part is but so far everything seems to work - including things like Ghostbusters and MPlayer_CE for playing video DVDs (which were problematic before).

I'm going to try this as well. I too had the Twilight Hack on my 3.2U. What step do I pick up at ...2] Run Custom IOS38 Installer?
