i honestly think he will return within the next 24 hours.

i mean he can't not write a much needed 4.2 firmware updater app.

thats just insane.
So he's going to hack the menu not to delete the Homebrew Channel too? You guys realize that you can install it but it'll still have that effect, right?

Wow more than 300 people are reading this; I seriously blame it on 'Attack of the Show' if they didn't make it so public then Nintendo's update would of just been features and not preventing piracy. Although I'm curious, Nintendo didn't sue or did anything when 'Attack of the Show' exposed the homebrew channel. To me Nintendo seeing that happened would of cause a lot ppl who watch that show to pirate their Wii's and since the media is very widespread, the pirating will increase within a few months which can slightly...barely decrease the sells from Nintendo's profit!

Plus Nintendo lowering their Wii price to 200 bucks, its something they decided to do from their minds. Just giving the people a free example to pirate is something that they can't risk.

+1

that stupid show was so lame and did probably partake in this new wonderful homebrewless firmware.

It sounds like the menu itself is doing the deleting. I guess I don't know for sure, but that is the only thing that makes any kind of logical sense (I would bet it's a bit like how it deletes the Twilight Hack). I mean really, think about it for a moment.

this update provides behind-the-scene fixes that will not affect features but will improve the overall system performance.
changes system menu to use IOS70 which possibly will improve performance.

How would switching to IOS70 improve the performance (i.e. faster load times, SD read/write, etc.)??

I have heard that IOS such as IOS60 have better WiFi code (I think it was the Mplayer team that said that)...it could be something similar to this.

so man we have a lot of updates heading our way.

i mean hopefully we'll see a new:

hackmii installer
4.2 firmware updater
cIOS installers that install to different IOS's

No doubt.

If you're worried about IOS though, you don't have to be really if you simply update with a WAD of the system menu or something. you of course would have to be sure to install this IOS70 before hand. Still doesn't solve the problem of deleting the HBC though of course, but I have faith that something is in the works (or will be). People can say what they want about Twiizers, they do know what they are doing when it comes to this stuff.

Has anyone confirmed whether the new system deletes anything other than the HBC? In theory, they'd probably only need to change the Channel ID to fix that problem if other custom channels are left alone.

well in this post it says it deleted the major cIOS's and boot2 functions

hopefully all they have to do is change the titleid from HAXX to something else.
like THBC

According to Wiibrew.org, BootMii is gone for good due to boot2 being updated to boot2v4 similarly to LU64+ units.
Also, IOS History shows that IOS 250 has been stubbed along with 222, 223 and 249.
There'll be workarounds eventually to be sure, but it bothers me that new IOSs are exploited while others get stubbed by Nintendo. At this rate we'll run out of NAND for WiiWare.

Isn't this the same thing we said about wii menu 3.4 though? I'm sure this time (even if in the next years of the future) we will find another way to get around this, and again it should be better! I've actually thought, if we maybe replace the "maintenance mode" maybe we could replace it with "hack mode" or something of that nature. And instead of pressing minus, plus, and A, JUST pressing A. And when you press minus, plus and A, it goes into "normal mode"

There's ALWAYS ways around things, they at least have to try to stop us, if they don't, will get even MORE advanced into the wonderful hacking of Wii (WHW) It seems to me it'll only be a little harder than figuring a way around 3.4.

New software = New glitches, New glitches = new hacking methods.

i agree.. although im a newbie in the wii hacking scene. but im following the psp hacking scene since the psp phat fw1.5 era.

sony/nintendo are releasing firmware updates to block homebrew and isos but people/hackers always finds a way to fix it.
remember when there is no pandora yet, when your psp is bricked then its a paperweight, there is no solution until the development of the pandora battery was released/
then psp released the 4.01+ firmwares and the psp 3000, both units cannot be fixed/downgraded using pandora but after a few months the CHICKHEN exploit came so homebrew and ISO loading in the new PSP motherboards became possible.

yes, psp and wii arent the same, but if you compare the hacking for the 2, they are somewhat the same.

If that's the case, wouldn't it be possible to save the Homebrew channel from a further removal later by making it appear to be a VC or WiiWare game, like the recent fix for most flashcarts with the DSi 1.4 update?

I know I'd be amused if HBC showed up as a Pokemon game or something.

OK Guys, I can confirm that you can't install shit for shit.

Luckly I didn't upgrade my Boot2 or I would of been doomed and had to wait for another installer release.

I installed everything new from ChangeLog and in fact:

BannerBomb doesn't work
HBC is Deleted
SSBB Exploit works
Used LoadMii to load various apps like:
Trucha Bug Restorer (can't downgrade IOS15, we should of known)
cIOS38Rev14 (since the new stubs, no wiimote connection and of course, can't do shit)
HackMii Installers 0.3 and 0.4Test (NADA!!!)
WAD Manager........ Well, you can't install anything.

The only thing I didn't install of the new update was Boot2v4, so I'll be doing a NAND Restore soon since I can't hack my Wii in othermeans.

I think what we need is either a new HackMii Installer or Trucha Bug Restorer that will crack the newer IOS' and once you get 1, only 1 Bugged IOS, the rest is cake, and we can dongrade (I call it DOWNDATE) to 4.1 and corresponding IOS'.

I'll be back with the NAND Restore Results.

Cheers.
