Hacking firmware 1.56 B3

So is 1.56 B3 running smooth? and is everyone getting lag/longer load times now?

It's better to wait for a more stable 1.56. I guess, update if you're playing the new Mario game on the DS, otherwise, just wait.

Yeah, I'm noticing longer load times too. My guess would be because the Anti-Piracy engine they are using is checking over games and on-the-fly patching them upon boot, and since TC's AP engine is becoming more robust with every FW update as Ninty comes up with new AP techniques, it takes longer to determine the on-the-fly patching method it needs to apply to any specific game.

The way beta2 killed so many games leads me to believe that TC had to put in checks so certain games wouldn't get broken by the AP engine. The result is slower loading.

Of course, I could be way off on that. I know squat about programming.

I don't really care how long a game takes to boot though, as long as a game works when I want to play it. But yeah, I've noticed slower load times too.

The first game I load after every firmware update takes insanely long to load (like 10 seconds), then after that one time it's back to normal.

Then at the very least post Team Cyclops disclaimer.

The people with still in-date warranties might not realize that if CycloDS becomes defective during beta firmware updating/use, that TC, or the retailer aren't responsible for providing a replacement unit/refund.

Though its most unlikely, and the "beta" firmwares are remarkably stable, if TC bothers to post a disclaimer, then you should too.

Wait, what's the trouble with Scribblenauts? I have v1.55Final installed and Scribblenauts works perfectly for me, never an issue. I'd like to play M&L but I can wait for a final release of 1.56.

1.55 Final runs Scribblenauts just fine. In fact, the only game it doesn't run is Mario and Luigi.

1.56b1 was created to fix M&L, but it broke Scribblenauts and a few other games (Grand Theft Auto).

1.56b2 fixed Scribblenauts and the other games that 1.56b1 broke, but it broke Pokemon Platinum and I guess a few other games too. However, both Scribblenauts and M&L worked so I was happy with this firmware.

1.56b3 fixed Platinum and some other games. I don't know what other games that this firmware broke, if any, but people have reported that Heart Gold/Soul Silver lags a bit when entering/leaving buildings.

I don't play Pokemon Platinum.
At the moment I only have interest in HeartGold, Mario and Luigi 3, Scribblenauts, and GTA, I take it beta 2 is the best for me, then?

Try the unpatched ROM without any cheats, works fine.

Yeah, for the Cyclo, you need the unpatched ROM. The patch is for lesser flash carts that don't have automatic anti-piracy bypasses.
