I hate to make a thread about this, because I have great compatibility with all the problematic games, and I consider myself an experienced softmodder. However, I can't figure out why these games don't work, when others have confirmed them working. My Wii is 4.1u (waninkoko), cIOS_rev14, and I've tried with USB Loader GX rev723, Configurable USB Loader, and WiiFlow 1.0.

Ghostbusters:

I'm truly sick of the numerous threads about this game, and I've even read all the old topics again with no success. Please understand that when I was using cIOS_rev10 with 4.0u system menu, this game worked on the first try. I played quite a bit, and still have the save file on my Wii. Now that I've updated to 4.1u and cIOS_rev14, the game freezes at the wiimote/safety screen. I've tried setting the 002 Fix to ON, and Block IOS Reload to ON, launching with nunchuck already plugged in/not plugged in, but can't get the game to launch anymore. Can somebody with my setup confirm, or help me with the settings to get this game working again?

Opoona:

I doubt many members even have this game on their drive, but the compatibility wiki shows that this game works with USB loaders. The game launches fine, I can navigate the menu, and I can start a new game. However, once the opening cinematic finishes, the game goes to black screen and stays there. Strangely, the wiimote stays connected, but nothing happens, and I have to hard reset. I've tried 3 different USB loaders, multiple settings, and even a DVD-R backup in NeoGamma, but the bug occurrs every time. If you're using cIOS_rev14, and can get this game to load, please tell me your settings and configuration.

Soul Calibur: Legends:

This bug is the same as Opoona. The compatibility wiki shows this game as working, but it doesn't work for me. The game launches fine. It shows the Bandai/Namco splash screen, then the Soul Team splash screen, and then it hangs on a black screen forever. Strangely, the wiimote stays connected and active, but nothing happens from here on out.

Any help would be appreciated by those using 4.1 system menus, cIOS_rev14, and USB loaders. I have all current IOS, and can get other problematic games, alt .dol games, and other-region games to play just fine. These are the only three games, other than Call of Duty 3 and Sam & Max that I can't get to load. Thanks.

Im pretty sure theres a good chance you have at least 1 bad ISO because they should work as you said.

My Ghostbusters ISO is fine, because I once used it to play the game with no problems. The only thing that changed was my system menu, and my cIOS revision, and now the same game doesn't work. As for the other two games, you could be right, but I would really like someone else to confirm as a FACT, that these games work fine on 4.1u and cIOS_rev14, and that my ISOs are bad dumps. Thanks for your response xzxero, your contributions are always appreciated

With rev14 you should not have to adjust ANY settings to get Ghostbusters to work. Try clearing game settings in Configurable USB Loader and trying it again...

Excluding Sam & Max, which doesn't work from USB regardless, I've got no problems loading all three into the game itself (beyond intros, actual gameplay) plus CoD3. I'm running 4.1, rev14, and WiiFlow to launch the games. I also just tested Opoona has 223-37/38 and it launched into gameplay without a hitch. Furthermore, I'm positive that Opoona has worked with many previous revisions of cIOS38 as I've had the game forever it seems.

Edit: Additionally, I'm not doing anything fancy with settings, just the usual global settings on these games. Force NTSC, 002 (global setting). Game settings remain at default for WiiFlow.

I took your advice, deleted all Configurable USB loader files/folders, and did a fresh install. I tried Ghostbusters and Soul Calibur: Legends, but get the same freezes. While I cannot vouch that Soul Calibur and Opoona are not bad dumps, I can confirm that Ghostbusters once worked perfectly for me, since I played through a portion of this game before.

Again, Ghostbusters launches to the white wiimote/safety screen, but the wiimote disconnects completely, and nothing happens. This is using default settings, like 002 Fix = On, and whatnot. Indiana Jones, another problematic game that released around the same time as Ghostbuster, works just fine.

I'll be damned if there isn't something very uncommon, or rare, with my Wii setup. I always seem to be amongst a very, very small group of people who share the same problems/bugs with different games and loaders. I'm never alone, but finding someone else with my errors always seems to be far and few between.

Hmm...odd. I would turn OFF the 002 fix tho, as this does not need to be on in CFG for the game to work. You did hit the button the clear settings in CFG for that game, right? Hmm...

Try downloading Hermes Uloader 3.0B and cIOS installer package:

http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/wii/uloader_v3.0B.rar

Install his cIOS (222-38 default, 223-38 merge 37....202 while your at it if you want homebrew DVD access in Mplayer and others) and then run Uloader from the HBC. Navigate to Ghostbusters and run it (no setting changes) and it should absolutely work. Post your results.

BTW: I do not have Opoona, but I do have SC: Legends and I can tell you that it works fine on my end as well. So, something is going on somewhere.

EDIT: Wait, you said you updated using Waninkoko's firmware updater? You probably (actually definitely) should have used the normal Nintendo update and then used TBR to get Trucha back in instead. See, when you updated using Waninkoko's updater, it merely updated the system menu, shopping channel, etc....but it left many of the system IOS's alone (to keep trucha in). This means they are all older versions.....maybe you are even missing some. Probably not the case, but it would not hurt one bit to go ahead and use DOP-IOS v7 as well and update and trucha patch every IOS on your system. Worth a shot.

I will take your advice, and maybe tomorrow I will try installing 222 and 223. I already installed Herme's 202 (ios36 default), and homebrew works great on my FAT32 partition. All my ios are trucha signed, as I upgraded from a fully trucha-enabled 3.2U. My Wii is older, and I've been softmodding it since the Twilight Hack first released. The Waninkoko safe updater left my trucha-signed ios fully intact. Keep in mind, if my ios were corrupt, I would not be able to play most of the problematic games that work fine for me. Again, Ghostbusters worked on cIOS_rev10, so I think I'm going to try reinstalling it, just to see if these games work again (although I plan on staying with rev14). Thanks for the input.

About Ghostbusters:
I'm 90% sure you have a broken warez release!
You repeat over and over that you played the game ONCE, i read that you really only succeeded to start it ONCE.

About the others:
1. Is the .iso bigger than 4,2 GB when it is SCRUBBED?

2. Does NeoGamma display any alternative .dols when it is set to load them from disc?

3. Did you dump yourself with a retail disc, or at least downloaded a not scrubbed version?

he says he tries to laucnh them from usbloaders , so original IOS have nothing to do with this , only the cIOS is used to launch games with usbloaders

This is exactly what happened to me. I couldn't get Ghostbusters and Punch Out to work (friend said he got it them from the retail version), here are my specs softmodded 4.1E, bannerbomb, Nintendo updated, trb and all i had to do to make this damn games to work was to download them, they worked on the first try, perfectly, so you could try to redownload them again. Hell i'll say most of the time if a game don't work try to redownload from a different source, if that don't work there's something missing in your wii.

ghostbusters and Opoona both work IN GX havn't/don't want to play soul Calibur but pretty sure that works too so this thread is pointless.

Why is this thread pointless? Because *YOU* can get the games to work? Very proud of you...

The original poster is having issues getting the games to work on HIS machine.

The first one works if you get a clean iso (without being compressed or whatever was done to it), the other two should work too....

When you WBFS transfer, the game is scrubbed....all games are. This is the release to get:
