There isn't a new Rival, and it's incredibly funny how you're mad about a sprite in a fictional game.

I do not remember the Girl being in the other games, and I would be upset with this too because its more text that he is taking time out to translate
It's a replacement by Kris - same thing, different sprite. And the text is bare to none, I don't see how it's a problem.

And why is it a problem if someone gets upset over something that you find trivial? Do you really feel the need to live peoples lives for them?
Who said I had a problem with it? It's funny seeing all these new people join simply too leech. xD

I was tempted to offer my services for translating, but with my sucky knowledge of kata, I'd be too slow to be of any help =(

I hate reading Japanese, hira and kata aren't so bad I suppose, but it doesn't seem worth learning them properly without intending to learn kanji.

And I have no idea how to learn kanji.

Yeah, I'll probably upload some progress pictures once I insert the text into the rom. And I've translated A LOT more text than before.

BTW, Phone calls will be translated.

The only flaw I see is
[annoyingly big pic to quote over and over goes here]

That's not a flaw. That is the NDS emulator's doing.
Actually, He put in a no, so it's read as 'No nothing to do with it'.. so, Dunno if it's an error or not.

Bah, a small typo, it doesn't matter as far as one can understand the meaning of what was being said. Amazing progress IMO.

I heard there's a 7 character limit on how many letters a NPC trainer can have in their name. Can you find a way to fix that, along with the 5 character limit on your own name? Or is it impossible?

If the official Nintendo can fix it, it must be possible.

Well I pretty much just know how to read katakana, hiragana and am oretty good at figuring out the meaning of Japanese sentences. Heck, for most of the words and stuff I use a dictionary + google to figure out what they mean. So with a dictionary I'm pretty good at translating, but if a person actually spoke Japanese, I would understand a LITTLE, but not a lot.

But yeah, usually with google and a Japanese dictionary program I can figure out the meaning of a term based on context. Also remember that if the piece of text is the same as in HGSS as it was the original Japanese GSC, it gets translated the same way most of the time, unless it needs to be changed to fit a new context.

I've also studied Japanese grammar and Japanese verbs for a while too.

Wish I knew how to read Japanese. Is it easy to learn? I only know English, unfortunately. But there's so many good kinds of Japanese media out there that it would be a fun project to actually figure out how to understand it

Simply put, no. I studied Japanese grammar for a couple years before doing this. Basically, I learned to read Katakana and Hiragana(Literally memorizing how each symbol is pronounced). I also learned a little of the grammar.
