Hacking are newly developed ds lites preventing users from using flash cards?

i have an acekard 2 with an 8 GB micro sd card, and it is so awesome, ive had an R4 for a year so i decided to upgrade. the only problem is my ds lites touch screen is all scratched, and the ds lite is kind of old, ive had the ds lite for 2 years, i got it in may of ;07.
now i am willing to have nintendo do the costly replacement/repair as long as i do not get a ds lite that does not play flash cards. remember i have a ds lite, NOT a dsi. a dsi has upgradable firmware, no gba slot and a bigger screen that makes original NDS games distorted.

the ds/ds lite by itself does not have upgradable firmware, its online capabilities were not implemented on the release of the original NDS right away, so im guessing any new ds lites that nintendo develops will have a different firmware, so if i get my ds lite replaced by nintendo, will it have new firmware that will not allow me to use my acekard 2?

my current acekard 2 firmware is 4.2 this is kind of important cause i started using my ds lite more since january 09, when i started getting out more.

No not to my knowledge. Oh and playing ds games on the dsi does not look distorted at all. How does your acekard have firmware from the future?

The DSi's screen totally doesn't distort anything. You should look stuff like that up before saying it...the screen actually makes things look better. Other than the fact that it has no SD slot, I think it's quite a bit nicer than the DSLite. There are tons of little improvements there...I just can't go back after using one. Unless, of course, I need a slot-2 device.

But back to the original question, I'm pretty sure Nintendo hasn't changed the DSLite hardware at all, and probably never will. But instead of getting a new one, or sending it into Nintendo, I'd recommend you just replace the touch module yourself. It's not that hard to do...you just have to be really, really careful with the ribbon cables.

You can get cheap replacement touch modules here.

Oh, and I HIGHLY recommend you use AKAIO instead of the official firmware. It's much, much better in pretty much every possible way.

it would help me if anyone just recently bought a ds lite or got it replaced by nintendo, and uses an acekard or R4.
if you got a replacement by nintendo, that means that you are more likely to have a new ds lite cause buying it new from a store means you probably bought an old one that was rotting away in the storage room.

and my mistake i have 4.17 firmware

Just try replacing it yourself. It's not THAT hard, and you'd totally save yourself at least $70.

the fact that i have to be "really really" careful is an indication that it would not end well if i tried to replace it myself. i think i will be making more money from my job anyway, so i will see if the high cost of replacing it is worth it for me. i just hope i can get a new ds lite before august 23rd.

my other issue is that i dont think the battery lasts too long, the battery life is tolerable but it would be nice if i could charge it less

About 2 and a half months ago I sent my launch day DS Lite off to Nintendo. It was turning on by itself randomly, then eventually developed to turning off randomly. It was well out of warranty so I was willing to pay to have it fixed.

Nintendo fixed it, classed it as a minor repair but didn't charge me. They sent me back the same DS, so I'm guessing they prefer repairs rather then replace an entire system. Oh and it boots my acekard 2.1 just fine.

The screens don't make original NDS games distorted. The pixels are larger than before, It doesn't distort anything.

I'm sure you are safe to pay to get it repaired or even buy a new one. My friend recently bought a crimson and black DSlite and it runs a flashcard fine, I'm not sure Nintendo would come out of the blue with a new firmware like this.

I've recently purchased a limited edition Mario DS lite and it has no problems with my Edge DS flashcart. A repair/replacement shouldn't pose any problem at all... the DSi on the other hand is another matter entirely.

The CycloDS is still the best card period, still waiting for Team Cyclops to release a DSi compatible cart.
