Looks like our question got its long awaited answer. Plug-In Rockman.EXE Transmission!

QUOTE said:
Remember the artwork for Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star? It’s not a crossover game. Capcom revealed the project today and it’s a Nintendo DS remake of Mega Man Battle Network.

Capcom’s “data action RPG” will have extra content not found in the original game. The concept art suggests Mega Man EXE and Mega Man Star Force will team up, but there’s a 200 year gap between their stories. We’ll have to wait for more information to Capcom to find out how that’s going to work.

Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star is slated to come out in Japan this winter.

Another quote from the Producer himself, Takeshi Horinouchi. This quote was found on the newly released Japanese website that came out today.

QUOTE said:
" As we head towards Rockman’s 25th anniversary, we are beginning to work on various projects, both big and small, thinking of what activities we’d like to work on. And though the Rockman EXE series ended three years ago, we’re receiving a strong sentiment from everyone saying “We want EXE!” So, we the development team are thinking of this splendid title Rockman EXE: “Let’s try doing something again…” …That is, I myself wanted to see Rockman EXE and Netto one more time. Therefore, our next title is such. This game’s inspiration is actually a celebratory image drawn by the designer for Rockman’s 20th anniversary. From that time, I’d secretly been thinking “In time we should try something neat with ‘EXE’ and ‘Ryuusei’.” Thus, our next project “Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star” has come to be started. Essentially, this is a Rockman EXE 1 remake for the DS, porting it and adding something extra. You the fans may be wondering, what sort of theme comes with combining EXE and Ryuusei? This is something that EXE fans of course, and Ryuusei fans as well, will enjoy. Details will be published the middle of next month, so please wait a little longer. So everybody, until it goes on sale, please look forward to seeing Rockman’s and Netto’s friendship! From here on, please give us your support. "

A mysterious update to the Japanese Sattelite Server on the Japanese website today after the announcement of Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star. Once you access it, you will recieve the following message:

QUOTE
"Currently, it sounds like the Satella Police are secretly developing a new program to be included in Wizards. It’s rumored that if used one “can control time” but… is something like that really possible?"A possible OSS storyline hint? Speculate!

Thoughts anyone?

I don't get why people like EXE so much, I mean it's good but MM,MMX and MML are way better, and I've seen a lot more people asking for sequels of those titles rather then EXE and RNR.
There should be an anime for MMX or something, maybe then more people will like it. :/ (Although I think an anime won't be good)

People like Megaman Battle Network because when it came out, it was a breath of fresh air. There was actually NOTHING really like it available at the time back in 2001. The story wasn't really that good until the sequels. But the battle system was really different and fun.

As those original Megaman games (original, X, and Zero) got more entries, people became tired of them. That's why they had to make reboots and new series' every so often. Or at least leave them for a while and come back years later like MM9. People get sick of all the games. And many people actually HATE the Legends series.

That being said, I'm not so sure if I like this idea of a remake. We'll see, but it seems lazy.

Weren't there only 4 or 5 Zero games? That's still less than the amount of crappy Battle Network games. You know what I'm sick of? Slow paced RPGs. At least with the originals and the X series I can pick whichever stage to start from, instead of having to go through hours of shitty generic RPG story line, and even then what's my reward? An interesting yet challenging boss fight (Answer: No, most of the bosses were easy)? Some interesting and varied level design (Answer: No. Other than different coloured palletes and some different sprites, most areas looked exactly the god damned same. Walk around "cyberspace" and have tiles that push you about from time to time)? Real answer: More crappy generic RPG storyline.

Law, there were 4 Zero games IIRC. But they were sort of "continued" with the DS ZX series, which there were 2 of. I don't think they sold very well though, meaning not likely to get any more of them. Problem is, these Megaman RPG's sell wildly apparently. Guess it's out of our hands.

This ^

I loved MMBN's battle system, and still do today. Its a crossover between turn based and a TCG that I just love to tinker in.
I'm really tired of all the simple turn based combats from almost all rpgs and really wish there were more innovative battle systems where battlefield position played a predominant role, such as MMBN.

The StarForce games were all phail MegaMan games. I hated every single one of them...

The characters were awesome, the style of fighting didn't make any sense. It was somewhat like you were the one fighting, but still... StarForce SUCKS!

Don't hate me StarForce lovers. It's just me x)

I updated the first post with news regarding Clock Genius.

I for one am excited that we even get an EXE game at all. I haven't played through the first one so this is a definite buy for me but I hope they fix and change content to make this remake for the better.
