I use Moonshell/M3Sakura to only watch videos and to view music, and I must say, they both look more or less the same in terms of features and quality, with the edge going to M3Sakura for MP3 controls. I find M3Sakura to be easier to use as well compared to Moonshell, thanks to the "instructions" on the top screen.

What do you guys think? I'm just using Moonshell and M3Sakura as a homebrew since M3Sakura can't load games on Supercard.

Oh, and I'm adding a poll just for the fun of it.

This is really pointless!! Sakura is firmware for M3 Real...it's not a new system, but a firmware for a flashcart...Somebody hacked it and made it work on other carts, but it can't run games, only media!!

Moonshell 2, when finished will be probably same as Sakura without some bits (that are exclusive to M3, because Moonlight developed Sakura for them)..

Whoever has M3 will use Sakura, and other chart owners will use Moonshell!!

There is no debate over that..

For now, Sakura is better because it's more stable..

Moonshell doesn't have that fancy sliding thing, but it does have homebrew launching support vs the Sakura DLDI version...

Well you coulda closed the thread....You could close it if you want. I was just curious and stuff

I'm just making this thread to see which you guys would be better if all you're using it for media such as music and videos.

I myself own a Supercard but use Sakura more than Moonshell because it looks better and what not. What I'm asking is that for homebrew features, which is preferred.

What's this homebrew support you guys mentioned about?

Actually, it won't have more features then Sakura! And it doesn't have less bugs then Sakura, where did you come up with that?!
Sakura is a full firmware with RTS, NDS and GBA support and some other stuff, Moonshell is a stripped down version of Sakura, with more bugs (at the time), it'll probably be straightened up in the future, but it'll never have far more features!!

Nope, it's a media player, and it'll never be a custom firmware!
It will only run media!! (possibly some homebrew)

well im not talking about sakura for m3 users (not everyone owns a m3) im talking about the crappy dldi version yeah the m3 version is cool but my cyclo boots DS and gba games with all those features so i don't need that I just want a good media player moonshell 2 is that and more. Moonshell 2 can boot gba games GBAexploder works with its extlink filesystem to boot games through that. So besides booting DS games like sakura moonshell 2 when its finished will have more features than sakura it allrady boots nes GBA and homebrew plus plays more media files than sakura. so if more devs integrate there emus into moonshell 2 It will be Quite amazing for people who don't have M3's. Plus moonlight made both of them so I expect he make the new one better than the old and From what i've read on his blog it will be!

Well, that was exactly my point, it's pointless to compare two things that are actually same and different in the same time..
Sakura is a firmware and Moonshell is a media player..
DLDI version of Sakura is bad because, that's the firmware with stripped down functions..

And also, Sakura has been drastically improved with the latest release (only Asian carts at the moment)..
Here is the video made by our Ninja Densetsu3000:

I'm in agreement with Toni, you can't compare a firmware to a media player. It might be made by the same person but they are different. It's just like comparing a box to a car.
Also those who say that M3 Sakura is crap because of its bad DLDI go boot into iTouch or Touchpod firmware with the triple booter to run homebrew. It's just the same as going into Moonshell to run homebrew. O_O.

So I'm probably going to get flamed for bringing this back, but here goes.

Now that Moonshell 2 Beta 5 is out and Moonlight won't release anymore, what would you guys prefer to use as a MEDIA PLAYER only, meaning watching DPG and listening to music? The fact that M3Sakura has a better interface, no missing keys, and it can actually display languages other than English gets my vote. Moonshell can't seem to display Chinese for some reason. All I get are blocks. Then there's the fact that the Repeat key is missing.

Ugh, way to revive a DEAD thread. The last post was February. You posted, today! This thread, is prehistoric. Old news. History. Bye bye.

And, if you ask me, Moonshell 2 is better than Sakura in terms of media. The media player is a lot better.
