Cheers, how about this then?

- Install IOS60.wad using Wad Manager (from either HBC or the same way you booted it during guide) http://www.yafaze.com/wii/files/IOS60.rar
- Install CIOSv10 Using HBC http://www.yafaze.com/wii/files/ciosrev10installer.rar
- Run IOSdowngrader using HBC http://www.teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/IOS-Downgrader_v1.zip (You'll still be on 4.0 but all will be trucha patched)

How do i install these? I can't do anything at the HBC.

I guess i have to acess the WAD Manager for all 3 of the files? But how do i do that through the HBC? :S

Do i put all 3 files on the SD card at the same time, or do i have to install them one by one?

Wow, Zane you asked all the noob questions for me, only recently discovered you could "Softmod" a Wii for Homebrew and Backups. I really appriciate the detailed guide on the previous page from ThatDudeWithTheFood. I need dummies guides. One question though for ThatDudeWithTheFood;

a) Once I follow all these steps to Softmod my Wii, i assume I can play backups from DVD through the backup loader channel that is installed?

b) Any chance of a idiots, step by step guide on setting up USB loaders or loading backups from an external HDD?

Thanks in Advance

I'm going to keep this short, more like very short, because seriously, i have read and watched 100 Billion articles and videos all about running Homeberw on your Wii, they are all either outdated, explained in an understandable way or require you to pay an amount of money to get some kind of "package", in other words, i feel my head is going to explode.
Here is the drill, My Wii happens to be from Europe, AKA PAL Region, I still didn't get the chance to update it to the latest Software update so I'm particularly stuck with version 3.4E ( which i heard is a good thing). Upon reading multiple recourses i found out a great website called WiiBrew, it has a perfect tutorial on how to run Homebrew on your Wii and eventually running The Hombrew Channel, this channel, appearntly, allows you to run programs developed by people like you and me but doesn't say anything about running backup copies of Wii games.

Further investigations revealed that there is something called Backup Loader, which lead me to this wonderful yet gigantic site of information, Backup Loader appears to be a type of software which allows people who already installed HomeBrew on their Wii's, to run Wii games, how it all works is still something I'm trying to figure out, so I'm hoping you guys could help me by answering the following questions:

1) Can Backup Loader run burned games on the Wii without the use of a Mod Chip?

2) Are there any consequences i should know of?

3) What is the latest version of this program?

4) Where can i download it?

5) Is there another application that functions the same?

6) What is cios?

Am i going to stop asking questions now and STFU?

Yes.

You all have a great day, and thank you for your time.

So i updated to 4.0E today wanting to have the new SD Channel and because I kinda messed up my Wii when i followed (The Ultimate Wii Soft-Mod Guide (Up to 4.0) by yafaze).

I now i'm wondering what's the easiest way to be able to install wad-files(mainly VC-games) again? Do i need to update any CIOS? And is there any way of using the built in WIFI to transfer them to the wii or the SD card?

I have homebrew channel installed and i have a mod-chip.

Thanks!

Edit: i just noticed that HBC isn't working any more, it's a channel but when i try to start it the screen goes black, needs reinstalling?

you have not installed the IOS60 and 61, try reading some of the guides around here to accomplish the 4.0 menu (yafaze

Wad installation error (ret -2011) on attempt to install WADs in the WADInstaller. (1.14 I think)

Running on 4.0, can't downgrade Wii. I don't seem to have an IOS249 anywhere, according to AnyTitleDeleter. Can't run IOS installation WADs, yet to find a working alternative.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What does the package "The 4.0 NoCIOSFix" do and what does "CMDVDX34" do? I have read guides that suggests that I should install these when setting up usbLoader, but they never explain what these files do.

Thanks.

4.0 NoCIOSFix is for installing cIOS on your Wii if you upgraded to 4.0 before installing cIOS.
Before you could use IOS16 but IOS16 is blocked in 4.0

CMDVDX34 is a DVDx installer by Comex (the one who made Bannerbomb) but in the case of getting cIOS on a 4.0 Wii you use CMDVDX34 to downgrade IOS35.

k so i installed bootmii as boot 2

now im hearing all this nand backup and shit so what is it and how do u backup ur nand

http://bootmii.org/about/ talks about bootmii
If you brick your Wii (such as by uninstalling IOS60 in wadmanager) you can restore your console from your backed up nand instead of sending it to Nintendo.

In bootmii you use the power button to cycle through the options and the reset button to select an option.
I would suggest a separate SD card for the nand backup and that you also copy it some where like to your PC and to a disc.
Also make sure that your PC can read it before feeling safe.

1 and 2 are safe. It will be like nothing changed. Although if #2 wasn't safe then there is no way that #1 would be safe.
As for #3 it depends on which modifications that you have installed. If you just have cIOS installed then there won't be a problem with updating all the way to 4.0
I can't speak for updates that will come after 4.0 but they aren't here yet.
Where you might want to be careful with updating is if you have modifications that patch IOSes. It won't cause you harm you just won't have the functionality that you had.
If you have preloader on 3.2 and you update to 4.0, please don't think that preloader will still be there after you update.

Thank you for your nice explanation.

Now the original question, how can I cleanup my Wii and get it to the point it was before all the messing up? Please note that I didn't make any backup before.

I have installed BannerBomb, some cIOSes (even some I think I didn't need after all), Homebrew Channel (along with some apps, which go to the SD card, so I guess no problem here) and the USB Loader GX Forwarder.

Bannerbomb doesn't get installed to the Wii's nand. It is just the exploit that allows you to use an installer from scratch. You can delete it off of your SD card.
The Homebrew Channel can be uninstalled using the Hackmii Installer (if I am not mistaken). You can also just go to data management and delete it from channels. You can also use AnyTitleDeleter to remove the "HAXX" title.
Apps on your SD card are in fact on your SD card and not on your Wii.
For the USB Loader GX Forwarder just uninstall the wad using wad manager.

As for cIOS there really aren't that many cIOSes. There is the cIOS that is necessary to get the USB Loader to work. This is the work of Waninkoko. It has many revisions but they all install to IOS249. They replace each other so if you installed cIOS36 rev 9 and then later you installed cIOS38 rev 13b then you only have cIOS38 rev 13b installed to that IOS249 slot.
If you want to remove this cIOS all you have to do is use AnyTitleDeleter to remove IOS249.
Other cIOSes are 202 and 222. These have been used for USB. I don't know if you have them installed but they can be removed the same way, remove them in AnyTitleDeleter.

And in case you are worried about removing an IOS, IOSes in the 200s are usually safe to remove because they aren't official IOSes. The highest official IOS is 61. Nintendo hasn't gotten any further than that.
You can see them here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS_History
I'm not sure if AnyTitleDeleter will even let you delete an important IOS such as the system menu IOS60 in 4.0 but I wouldn't try it either.

Hey, I just recently updated to 4.0 from 3.4 using the Ultimate Guide. I'm currently running an NTSC Wii with all the goods (HBC, Backup Launcher, injected wads, etc.). I also installed both BootMii and Preloader for safety, as well as NeoGamma so I wouldn't have to juggle six different backup launchers.

After I updated I curiously was not able to run GC games, either on NeoGamma or on the regular GC channel. If I put a game in and try and run the launcher, I just get the launcher logo with a black screen and no instructions (Press A for autodetect, Y for NTSC, etc. etc.), and there's a white-ish bar across the top like it crashed or something. Then the Wii resets.

Any ideas on what to do? Am I maybe missing an IOS?

I am running a wii with system menu 4.0 (from nintendo) without cios and installed the homebrew channel via bannerbomb. I want to run a backup loader, so I read the Ultimate System Menu 4.0 guide and my question is: Do I have to follow the guide and downgrade then re-upgrade with cios or can I just install cios and a backup loader without downgrading? I read the faq about the 4.0 without cios, but if possible would like to do it the online way.
Thanks for any help
