Hi everyone,

I just baught Wii Motion Plus (WMP from now on) and I first tried it with Grand Slam Tennis. I wasn't very happy about it tbh. The only thing different with WMP plugged in, is that you can make the character swtich between a forehand and a backhand. I was hoping i could make the character point his racket to the air and everything, just 1:1. I was also able to play it whitout watching and almost without any force (I even accidentally hit the ball while strapping the wii mote to my wrist).

So i decided to try PGA 10. Same story. I wasn't able to aim the club to the sky or to the left or right. And i also didn't like the fact that i hit the ball kinda hard without a lot of force. I decided to give WMP one last chance with disc golf. I didn't like the game-mode, but I finally saw some WMP action. I moved the disc around with and without WMP, and there is a big difference!

I understand (well.. I hope) that aiming your racket/club to the sky only can't be done because EA didn't build in this features (same story with the amount of force you need). But this topic is about the first impression of WMP. And since these are the only games for it at the moment, I must say that I'm disappointed. Maybe it's also because i don't like the games, but I think WMP could have a better start with games like Wii Sports Resort (or Red Steel 2). Games that show the full potential of WMP.

I was looking forward to an evening/night of fun with WMP, but I already plugged it out. I think it will stay unlplugged untill Sport Resort is out (or another WMP game, but I'm not sure there will be before Sports).

Please let me know what you guys think and how you feel about your first WMP experience!

Good rule of thumb is, if Nintendo built WMP, play it on a Nintendo game.

Wii Bowling is still the best bowling game out on the Wii, all these years later.

Yeah, I really think that Wii Sports Resort is gonna be the true test of the WM+. Personally im finding it very good on TW10 in both normal and disk golf. Cant wait for some more games to come along that support it

I get what you're saying. But at the same time it would be an absolute waste of time and resources for EA to have spent time creating animations for every retarded gesture someone wants to do with their wiimote. It's a golf club, not a laser pointer.

I played both GS & TW for a full day w/o M+ before I went out and bought it. The difference is astounding. GS controlled about as well as the Mario Tennis port w/o M+. Provided you stay callibrated in Grand Slam you have, imo, near complete control of where the ball goes. It's not like other tennis games where you can just flail around like you're having a seizure and hit the ball.

As for TW 10. That's what really got me to go out and buy it. I was tired of accidental swings at 30% power instead of 100%. Also disc golf, although I don't enjoy it either, is nearly unplayable w/o M+. The range of the hand on screen is extremely limited w/o M+. With M+ it is true 1:1 animation and will do any retarded thing you try to do with the wiimote. I'm surprised you didnt love it since that seems to be the criteria for it working as intended.

Opinions are like assholes.. but if you're waiting on Sports Resort to sell you on M+, you might as well just try to sell your M+ to someone. If playing TW w/ M+ didn't sell you, I really dont think jet skiing or ping pong is going to.

Thnx for the replies. Maybe I just don't like the games or I should spend some more time playing them. And to be honest: I just want to try the sword fights (Sports or Red Steel 2). My first impression stays negative though.

I would never sell my WMP's! Still looking forward to Sports/Red Steel. I just hate the fact that I won't use them untill these games are out. But.. I will give GST and PGA10 some more time. Any news about other WMP games that will be released a bit sooner?

Try Virtua Tennis. I, like you, had a horrible time with GST, but Virtua Tennis has really nice motion+ control. The only crappy thing about it is if you're playing two players the second player is at the top of the screen, it's not split screen so it's really hard to play.

Im going with that. Although Redsteel 2 is going to be awesome. The first one was terrible and filled with issues, but this one looks like a winner. Also want to see if NMH: DS uses it. Nothing like feeling like you're slicing a guy in half with a halogen lightbulb (you never noticed that the beam katana looks like that?)

TC, I felt the same way when I first tried TW10 with WMP, I was like "whats the big deal, it almost feels the same". Then I took it off and couldn't beleive the difference. It is also really nice to not do any accidental swings anymore, and the new putting mode is AMAZING

I tried PGA10 again. I'm starting to like it. What's so amazing about the putting mode? Don't know whats new about it? Or is it the swing back/swing front thingy?

I also tried Golf @ Wii sports and I felt some difference. It's a bit more easy to as less force as possible (that's great @ PGA10 btw...).

Dissappointing!
based on Grand Slam Tennis (haven't got anything else to play in Sweden so far). I'm not expecting full 1:1 tracking of a virtual racket doing all crazy stunts, but I'm expecting it not to f**k up, which it does too much. About 20% of the time, the guy pulls back his arm (left or right), even if I don't move the controller an inch. I also find that doing slice/topspin/flat hit and placement is not very accurate (a lot of the time completelly wrong). And yeah, I am good at real tennis.

Here's a tip by the way, try to return to a neutral position as quick as possible after each hit. The game seems to calibrate to a new neutral position after every hit (a certain amount of time after), and if you're off from your neutral position, then you're smoked.

If this "calibration" is required as often as GST does it, I can see some serious limitations of this technology. It will probably work fine with games that use a button press intuitively as part of the game mechanism, e.g. (I'm assuming, correct me if wrong) in golf press A when you're in your neutral stance ready to swing or wii sports frisbee, press A to select the frisbee (with cursor pointing at said frisbee).

Also I don't like the fact that the motion plus device makes it impossible to use wireless nunchucks like Nyko Kama (and others), since you can't connect the "dongle" for the wireless nunchuck (not even if you remove the stupid rubber sleeve (which I don't like either).

I think you should blame the game. PGA 10 shows more of what WMP can do. What you said about a wireless nunchuck just sucks. I don't own a wireless nunchuck, but i don't like the fact that the wii mote won't fit in a recharger when WMP is plugged in (same reason i don't like the protection jacket).

You need a charger like the one I just got. It's an Induction charger put out by Energizer. You can have the Wiimote jackets and/or Motion Plus plugged in and it charges no problem. You don't even plug the Wiimote in, just put it on the tray. Only enough space for about two at once, but it's still an awesome charger.

TW10 is awesome with WM+... this is the game that showcases it very well (both in the regular game and in the disc golf game). GST still has way too many miss-reads (eg, backswing to prepare is counted as a full swing and that puts you out of position)... and not seeing the same 1:1 (even in practice mode) that EA was demoing in their teaser (developer interview) videos. I've also found with GST that (even when WM+ is installed) I'm almost playing better when I do the old 'waggle' that worked with wii sports tennis. Hope Red Steel 2 doesn't disappoint.

I also bought a WMP yesterday to try with GST. And I got the same problems everyone else is having:
If you move your arm in a sideway position to soon, the game loses the position of the remote.

As for TW. Is TW working on a PAL Wii? Patched with WiiBrickBlocker or RegionFree?

That is the main problem with GST at the moment. Why does the game always wants you to go to the neutral position after every ball... Those calibration should be made once at the very beginning. The way they did it with GST is just awkward! I haven`t tried VT09 but what I heard is, that it is suppose to be better control-wise.

At this moment I have to say, that M+ offers many possibilities but I`m not quiet sure, if developers are going to make use of these new possibilities like they should do!
