Hacking How to use downloaded or backed up sav files

I recently bought a M3 Real for my son and recently I installed Sakura 1.35 on it.

Using the wifi tool I am able to create a back up of the save file from the cart to my pc.
(I've also tried using sav files that I downloaded from here as well)

But the problem is I have no idea how to get the the cart to actually use the sav file when I copy it to the M3.

I don't know if it matters or not but I did rename the games from the dump name to a readable name:
Ex: XXXX.nds -> The Game.nds

But, the filenames of the saves match the games exactly.
Ex game.nds -> game.sav

I've also tried game.sa1 and game.1, but the save file appears to created anyways when the game is launched.

I've also tried letting the M3 create the save file and then overwriting it through my pc, but this doesn't seem to work either.

I'm really at a loss here, I have no idea how to get the M3 Real/Sakura to actually use the save file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you are using the Wi-Fi save backup tool, are you using the option to Create the 512kb sav files?
(I believe that option is in the ini file for the Wi-Fi backup tool.)

Probably would be easy to look at the save Files that you have dumped already, and check their file size, anything less than 512kb and I'm pretty sure it won't work.

The downloaded ones aren't 512, but the ones copied from the cart (wifi) are.

How are the saves supposed to be named? I assumed that they should be the same as the game.

Does it matter that the games have been renamed?

What is the proper process for using a sav file?

Here's what I've tried:
Copy to M3
Load game
Press L+R+Y -> Load Save

I've never used the backup tool, I just backup saves manually through a card reader. When putting them back on my cart I just make sure that the game and save have the exact same name and it usually works. Except for Bleach, I don't think I've ever had a problem. So I'm not sure why your saves arn't working but yeah they are supposed to be the same name with .nds for the game and .sav for the save.

*edit* As far as the L+R+Y I don't have time right now to check what that is, but when I replace a save I just go into the game. It auto loads the save of the games name. At least it should be.

Thats what I thought as well. The L+R+Y is for real time save. I figured that since nothing else seemed to work maybe that was why....

If I recall, the M3 Real uses .0 format save files. Use this save converter.

For some odd reason, most of the saves seem to be working now...
