I downgraded from 4.0 to 3.2E without problems, only the CIOS_FIX.wad gave me an error.
I can install wads now, but when I want to upgrade to 4.0E wit Waninkoko's updater, it everytimes gives me an error while initialising the network. (exception (DSI))

I can do everything, but I want to go back to 4.0 (SD menu). How to do this?? Also with the online updater from this topic, I get errors while initialising the network.

Is there also an program that can erase everything without the systemmenu and the needed systemfiles (back to factorysettings), so I can start over again? I read about anytitledeleter but I startet this on the Wii, but how can I see what to erase?

I was on 3.2E with the homebrew channel already installed. I followed the method and upgraded, but now it doesnt load... I keep getting a black screen. It's still there as a wii channel. It just loads a black screen. What could be causing this?

I installed bootmii as boot 2, and I could load the homebrew channel fine after that.
It was just after finishing the upgrade it refused to work... mmm

Have you tried reinstalling the homebrew channel with the HackMii installer?

This is probably gonna sound like a silly question, but how would I launch the hackmii installer in the first place?
i.e I've always used the homebrew channel to load dol/elf files so... would I use the bannerbomb thing?

Yup, Bannerbomb should have already been given to you if you used the offline guide, otherwise, Link.

Just follow the directions and make the HackMii installer the elf on the root of your SD card.

with bootmii running sweet on my 3.2 NSTC wii, i would now like to take advantage of system menu 4.0 features like SD card storage. ive read up how to upgrade the safe way offline. but it seems i need to install CISCORP ISOs in order to be able to run backups from the disk channel. Is it 100% safe to update to 4.0 now?
i want o keep all 3.2 features like HBC, and running USB loader, and running backups off disc.

my wii has been running well on 3.2 for ages - just wanted to use more storage really. what are you guys using now as the main firmware level?

i re tried the installation , last time i reached wads 1-18 an problems....

i re tried it and every thing was working great but... at cios fix it keeps giving me ret error,
so since i did it before i skipped it , and got to the wads 1-18 and no problem but once in a while it freezes and i click the home botten then the black screen comes up and then i hold the power botten for 5 secounds and try again at wads , still no luck..... , i retry from begining of the offline downgrading all over again, but still all the same problems. the home botten started working again but i think i must have messed up in installation.

Should i format my wii? and install HBC using your way of installing HBC? remember im on 4.0U
because i think it might be my homebrew channal its v 8 or 9 i forget.
or

is there a way to roll back everything i did on my wii and tri again without loosing my mii channal and bieng able to get my HBC back?

It seems like people are only talking about this now that Bootmii has been released. are you using bootmii? reinstalling the HBC should fix everything though

Is there any reason to install preloader if i have a wiikey2 chipped wii? If not can i just skip that part?
preloader can save your system if you mess up your system menu somehow. I highly reccomend it because theres no reason not to install it, it doesnt take time to load or anything

Make sure you are using Wifi, ethernet will not work with homebrew. you can use Anytitle deleter to delete any WADs above IOS61 if you are on 4.0 and any wads above IOS36 if youre on 3.2

johnnyturk: yes if you install CIOSCORP

KTroopA: online is the safer method...yes you need CIOSCORP to run backups from the disc channel.

Just curious, why is anyone doing the online version of the guide? Wouldn't it be easier and safer to do the offline method?
The online version is actually easier and safer

In what way? Is it because you can accidentally choose the wrong region in the offline version? Other then that, what makes it more dangerous?

I have provided SFV files to verify that the files are safe to install but the online version downloads the files fresh from nintendo servers and will not install if they are incorrect. Its mostly due to user error that people think WADs are dangerous but there is more risk of problems installing WADs than using a patchmii based program. You can also choose the wrong region in the online version so thats not the reason I say that its safer but its definately easier/faster to do the online guide.

thx assassda. a follow on question from your mention about preloader. As i have brick protection with bootmii, i wnt to also install preloader - seems like its benefits are good to have also
smile.gif
ive read i need to downgrade IOS files before i can install it. this sounds weird to me, but will that not break anything like HBC or disc backups loading atm? i plan to install preoloader 1st and then update using this guide, if that will work?

Was anybody with bootmii already installed to boot2 able to use the online guide to upgrade to 4.0 without breaking the homebrew channel? I have seen a few posts saying this broke the homebrew channel. If it did break the hbc were you able to use bannerbomb to reinstall hbc from installer_beta1.elf inside hackmii_installer_beta1.zip and get it working again? Thanks guys!

I've got a 3.2E Wii with cios rev10 installed. Does that mean I can skip the online steps up to the installation of 4.0?

Also how do you install preloader?

Finally what does the extra/optional step do for me? I'm referring to the ios60bf.wad file installation, do I just grab the file from softmii package, or do I have to extract it or something?

Cheers

Did you do it offline or online?

Also, Do I use sd1 if I don't have homebrew, or sd2?

If i uninstall HBC will it remove every thing i installed in Offline downgrade/upgrade, if yes how do i uninstall it?

and if no how to roll back every thing and start from begining?

i installed cios rev 10 and cios fix but i wana start over it keeps freezing during the installation i think it might of been me holding the power butten or unpluging it, soooo i wana re install the Offline downgrade/upgrade all over again without anything instaled and i want new HBC too so ..... i wana fresh start.
