1)Okay, so bootmii will come and install itself as what? A boot2, IOS or System Menu? My Wii has the non-vulnerable boot1 so............
I believe it is BOOT2
-----------------------------
2)Alrighty, my friend has a semi-brick, and he has not setup any WiFi settings. He has not installed any cIOS and god knows he has what firmware. What should I do in order to:

i) Fix the semi-brick

Depending on the problem, you have 3 choices: SaveMii, SaveMii-Frii and/or updateing the Wii with the latest FW on a disc

ii)Install a cIOS
You can extract the cIOS installed in your Wii and repack it as a .wad file, so you can install it with Wad Manager

iii)Get him to 4.0U
Why..? well use the Wanky's 4.0 upgrader, but hence I haven't used it I don't know if you can just place the .wad files in the SD and make it work

iv)Install Preloader
once all above is done, this is the same as in 3.2

All these has to be done offline-way..... so............................. any help?
----------------------------
3)Can non-cIOS'd 4.0 Wii install a cIOS?
Yes you can, check the install HBC on a 4.0 virgin Wii and you can see that you only need to use Wad Manager 1.4 and the IOS35-v1040 (?), then set the Wad Manager to hang off IOS35 (wich will now have the fake signing bug) and that way you will be able to install any cIOS.wad...!!

Ok, I just read somewherethat Waninkoko's updater:

"Installs updated IOS files that are included with 4.0 from nintendo. It only installs required IOS files and that's it.
Leaving your Trucha ones in tact.

However if you started on 3.3+ it won't do anything special and you may aswell use Nintendo's.

P.s I always use nintendos because i want the new IOS files for the newer games. I then use IOSdowngrader to give me the old IOS files still Truchad."

Do new IOS files really matter for newer games? If so, how would I install new ones?

I've lost all my wiimotes, and my copy of SSBM (Melee) isn't working anymore. Is there any way I can run a back-up copy without a wiimote? Is there any hack to the menus that allows you to use a NGC controller for navigation yet?

Thanks.

About the 4.0 update:
I read, when i use the 4.0 Update i can not install some Hombrew like the HBC.
Than i read when i have install HBC and then use the 4.0 update the HBC will not run.
On the next Page i read that in this case HBC will run without any Problem.
Than i heard that i can use the 4.0 update with my Chip modded Wii and everything will work like before.

So i wanted to use the Waninkoko's 4.0 Update but now i see that newer Games wont run.

I really dont know whats true and whats not and i dont want to install something and than i have to downgrade or install somthing for nothing.

So please help me, tell me what are the facts and what i can do or not.

Greets from Germany.

Hey guys, i recently got some Component cables for my Wii. I noticed that all my Backup's run on 480p except for Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, it only runs on 576i. I did a search and found out something about replacing a .dol file that is found in the second partition. I'm just wondering if there's something else that can fix the problem or do i have to replace the .dol?

If I went ahead and got myself a new Wii out of the shop I assume I'd get one that already had the 4.0 firmware on it?
Not necessarely, maybe 3.4 will be on it, 4.0 is less common at the moment

Plus I might get one from that certain Serial Number block that makes it pratically impossible to mod, right?
There is a guide for LU64 serial Wii's at SoftMii.org, and Skarface posted it here at GBATemp too

To play games off a external hdd I need the USB loader, if I figured that out correctly.
Correct

And I couldn't for the love of god find an easy to understand guide on how to get the HBC + USB Loader onto the console and running properly.
One with many pictures would be preferred

I was planing on making guides for several stuff, but there is so many right now, about the pictures you're right they all lack of these, but I would recomend that hit the wiibrew.org page to have HBC, and then come back to GBATemp to install the Loaders, cause it is the most informed place on the web about this kind of stuff, after all you only need to install a cIOS and then run the aplication...!!!
smile.gif

Thanks for the answers
wink.gif

And if I got unlucky and got one with 4.0 firmware (or bought a used one that had it) I would be able to get the HBC running?
Because I've read that it wasn't possible now I see more and more people saying it is indeed possible O.o

ok,...this is gonna be a unber n00b question
biggrin.gif
Sorry...never installed a CIOS before

I downloaded "Cios Rev 10 Installer" from http://www.yafaze.com/wii/downloads.html

How do I install it? Inside the .rar file there's an apps folder containing boot.dol and it also contains a .wad

Do I drop both into the SD Card then run Wad Manager and install the .wad or do I run the boot.dol file on Homebrew Channel?

Extract the archive as it is to your sd. So the wad file will be in root and the dol file in \apps
Then run the dol from hbc. The installer will load the wad, patch it and install it as custom ios

My kids will not let me near the Wii since I put USB Loader 1.5 on it, so I apologise in advance if any of this would be obvious if I experimented.

They tried playing various singing games off the HDD and it did not recognise the microphone, but the originals play fine. I understand this is cIOS rev 10 and speculation says that rev 11 may fix it (but reading Waninkoko's log, "[ENG] My 6-hour trip to the Dark Side (Episode II: Attack of the Clones)", it appears that he has been upset at all the "me too" of everybody trying to get in on the act rather than taking it as a compliment that lots of people want to get involved ) so I don't hold out much hope of that happening soon. It is annoying purely because the kids keep losing the disks, so I was trying to find out if the 3rd party wireless microphones still work on games played of the HDD, but I have failed to find an answer. Does anybody know ?

**EDIT 16 May 2009 **

!! The 3rd party "wireless" microphones all have a USB dongle, thus are USB devices, thus do not work with cIOS rev 10 and USB Loader 1.5 !!

**End of EDIT 16 May 2009 **

On a completely separate note, and at the risk of being told off for duplicate posts, has anybody any idea why a single cover is not found by Waninkoko's USB Loader 1.5 ?
I found a stack of png cover art 160 x 255 so I have got 592 items in my covers folder. I fired up the trusty hex editor and found the game code is the first 6 bytes of the ISO so I copied the characters and renamed the file and it made no difference. I checked the code displayed by WBFS Manager 3.0 and it was the same as the file name. I fired up my trusty disk editor and searched for the code and found it on the USB drive close to the game's name. I took a virgin SD card from 3 different manufacturers and loaded everything back on and it made no difference. If anybody has any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong they would be appreciated. If anybody has found the I have exceeded a limit whilst reading the source code, let me know as I didn't find anything when I looked.

** EDIT 2 – 16 May 2009 **

Thanks for the e-mail. I was being a n**b, but it was a case of “dyslexics of the world untie”, i.e. if you don’t spell the search correctly, you don’t get the results you want
shy.gif

The last post of topic http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=148157 indicates that my problem was introduced when cIOS went from rev 9 to rev 10. Having looked at the fixes from 9 to 10, I will be sticking with rev 10. At least I now know I am not making a common newbe mistake !

Wanky's updater WONT install any new IOS except for the needed by the SysMenu, leaving everything just like you have it right now, from 3.3 to newer FW's, the trucha bug has been fixed, that's why all the people downgrade to 3.2, this is only usefull if you like to play the custom GH and that kind of stuff, if you use "N" updates and then use IOS Downgrader, then why da' f*** updating..?? do you want the latest IOS or the older ones..?? make up your mind pal..!!

Hi,
I'm almost at the finishing line so to speak.
I've installed HBC, USBloader 1.5, i have copied the iso's to the USB drive with WBFS 1.2 for Mac and ripped them from disk on USB loader.
All is fine except i don't know how to create HB game channels. In WBFS i click on Make HBC this creates a folder(of the game name) with with three files:-
1. boot.dol, 2.icon.png and 3. meta.xml.
I've tried putting theses folders in the app folder on my SD card thinking that the HBC will run the .dol files and create the game channel. But it isn't working and i haven't a clue what to do. Do i need another app to create the channel?
Either way i need help please.

Oh i have a U.S Wii running 3.3U with a wiikey 1.9s

I have a problem with my WAD Manager 1.3 working on my Wii 4.0U. It is displaying this message when I attempt to download wiiware games

[+] Installing ticket... ERROR! (ret= -2011)

I recently found out that there was a newer version of the WAD Manager 1.5? I believe and when I used that to install my wads, I get

[+] Installing ticket... ERROR! (ret= -1)

I updated my Wii to 4.0U through Waninkoko's method and I heard that WAD installation should still work even with his update. Other solutions I've heard are changing the CIOS which I have no idea how to do or what it is and in addition, I have preloader 0.29 which I think will interfere with the CIOS downgrade/upgrade. If the preloader doesn't interfere, should I install CIOS rev10 and then try installing wads again?

You wouldn't click on Make HBC. I don't know exactly which GUI you are using, but look for some thing like "Make Game Wad" or "Make Game Channel".

hi bdr9,
Thanks for the reply.
The GUI i'm using is WBFS ver 1.2 for Mac OS X. It has a button that says make HBC which creates a folder and the files i posted previously.
I"ve just gotta find out what to do with these files but i will do a search like you suggested and see what comes up.

Newb to homebrew on the Wii here.

Apparently there is a folder I cannot delete on my SD card. The only thing I have used it for is my Wii, and I only recently discovered it.

It's called JAAE and I can't seem to get rid of it no matter what I do.

I plan on using this tutorial,
http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=113
and I'm kinda paranoid that if I have anything else it won't work like it should Help?

2 Questions

1) I am on 3.2U firmware with D2CKey. Can i installed *ANY* USB LOADERS out there now?

2) I am not sure what cIOS i have. But i know most of the USB LOADERS need cIOS rev9. I did installed Wiigator Gamma loader 0.3 so i know i have installed some cIOS before but i do not know what version. So the question is do i need to delete previous before installing the new one?

Thanks
