But believe me, some text as the text from the main menu is written into those .tpls. But its too much work since the alpha channel also has to be edited.

Of course there are text graphics it´s with EVERY game the same the fonts are graphics too
Anyway the problem is still that japanese uses monospace characters (2bytes for every letter and fixed width) and so english words will only fit if we change the text offsets or if you have luck you can use normal characters (1byte).
But it´s still possible like in FF: Dissidia that even if you use normal characters that you have lines between the letters.
Hrm, you could try looking around in the main.dol. Maybe you can find some text to translate there. I don't know i don't own that game

If you are lucky you can uses normal characters instead of Monospace but even then the text most likely doesn´t fit.
PS: Tatsunoko and so are totally different games and uses other files for the text (It´s not always in the main.dol) Biohazard 0 and Donkey Kong Jungel Beat for example have the text in bmg files.

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
