I'm on Vista 32-bit, and Maximillion's GUI works great for me (haven't tried any others though), but I get the run-time error '9' with this one. I also tried changing the drive letter from H to D and it had no effect.

When creating a channel

"This is not a valid u8 archive!"
"Error unpacking opening.bnr! Your ISO may be corrupt!"

How is my ISO corrupt if I can perfectly use it everywhere else

Same here. No matter which iso I try, returned the same runtime error '5'. Same as u8tool 10.1. Any help? Thanks.
BTW, I was in WinXp SP3.

Looks like when you use the "Also Build a Channel Wad..." when adding an ISO to the drive, the channel comes out correctly.

But when you try to use the Channel Maker -> Make Channel from ISO, it is using settings (GAME ID?) from the previous "add" but the correct banner and the channel looks good but doesn't load.

Anyone else see this? I saw the reference to someone saying all his channels came out as WiiMusic IDs.
You have to have selected the correct game from the list before you hit Make Channel from ISO.
Currently, Make Channel from ISO only uses the banner from the ISO. It gets the ID from what you have selected in the list of games on your WBFS HDD.

Hello,

I've been really looking forward to this application.

Thanks so much for taking the time to create it and answer all these troubleshooting questions.

Sadly, I too am on Vista 32-bit and I get the run-time error '9' every time i try to run it.
I haven't had any other issues with WBFS stuff (drives missing, GUI version, etc.)

Please and thanks for your support!

Just providing some feedback on my experience with this app because more info on these sorts of things is always better than less, no?

Windows 7 Ultimate beta (Build 7000)
64-bit

I first had to manually register "msflxgrd.ocx" - navigate to "C:\Windows\System32", right click on "cmd.exe" and select"Run as administrator." At the command prompt, "regsvr32 msflxgrd.ocx" should do it.

But when running "WBFS Manager.exe" I get the "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range" error.

I can also confirm that Maximillions windows front-end for "wbfs_win.exe" works perfectly on adding/extracting/listing/etc on my system with a 120 GB Wester Digital drive.

Thanks for your efforts on this; I'm sure that it's only going to get better!

Ok well its working, now... kind of, I'm able to read my disk and everything... Just one problem... When trying to create a channel, I get an error from the u8 tool saying that there is no FM20.DLL... so I downloaded the FM20.DLL and then put it in the directory, and then I get this error:

System Error &H8007007E (-2147024770). The specified module could not be found.

So any luck with that??

OS:
Windows XP SP2

You are 100% correct. That must be my problem. I didn't RTFM.

I checked the "WBFS Manager.txt" and found...

Method 2: Click on a game already installed and then select "Make a Channel for Game With ISO" from the top menu. You will be prompted to supply a iso image. The channel will be made almost instantly.

Thanks for solving this for those of us who forget to check the manual.

LOL, I didn't read the manual either, I just worked it out by trial and error.
An interesting side effect of this function is that you can, if you want to, make a channel with the banner of one game, but which launches a different game.
Could be useful for hiding games you don't want people to know you have, or for making pranks.

I can now say that this is working for me 100%. Add ISO, Extract ISO, make channel after adding, and make channel from ISO, after picking game from list on disk

It all works and is super simple.

GOOGLE searching System Error &H8007007E (-2147024770). The specified module could not be found.

QUOTE said:
This error has to do with a corrupt or missing OCX file(Active X error). The problem is... which? I did a quick search and found this patch. If that does not work, I found another howto which the relevant parts are pasted below for you.

Install CCleaner if you don't already have it. Click on the issues tab in the left pane and run an Issues Scan. Toggle off all errors that refer to Active X conflicts and repair them.. Do this 3 times, reboot an you are back to normal.

This may sound sorta silly, but if you ever had this error show up and you can't get anywhere after d/l'ing and Regserv32 a load of .ocx files, you will appreciate this.

QUOTEMy guess would be that the install package isn't installing a specific component that your app needs. Some machines may already have it, which is why it works on some and not others.

And if you can reproduce it you can debug it by stepping through the code, and figuring out what line causes the crash. VB will then close at that point, but you will at least know what line is causing the crash.

What are you using to install your app? Are you just creating an install package using the Setup And Deployment Wizard that comes with VB. If so that installer is FULL of problems, and should not be used in any type of commercial or business environment. There are several free ones, VSI and/or MSI from Microsoft (not sure if they arae the same thing or not, but I hear they are excellent). Or you could buy a professional install package such as Installshield, or WISE.

THATS WEIRD THAT A GOOGLE SEARCH BRING THIS UP

Hi,

noticed wad's always get ID Uisc.

any methode to make that unique for every wad?
(now it will overwrite bij installing)

for example, disc id RUUP01
--> created wad id UUUP

(replace first R for U keep next 3 values in sync of disc id?)

I thought thats how this tool worked.
I am just using the updated U8Tool in the package, but changing the R to U should ALWAYS work.

Check page nine or read the manual. This has been discussed. If you are using the "Channel Maker" option, you must have the game on the HDD already and choose it before trying the "Channel from ISO" option. It will pick up the DiscID from the HDD Game chosen and the banner data from the ISO.
