Ok, so I got r4ysauto and put it in its own folder. There, I extracted it. I then got the update and extracted it to the same place. I then extracted everything else that was in a zip file except for YSMenu0903211700.zip. I then renamed the YSMenu0903211700.zip to YSmenu0810211800. Then I ran r4config.bat.
I answered:
1) (EN)
2) (R4)
3) (Yes)
4) (Yes)
5) (EN)
6) (4)
7) (on)
So then I wondered what to do next for a while. Then I ran r4.bat.
I got the message, "Cannot open TTmenu.dat"
Then I got the message stating it was completed succesfully. So I took R4_custom_English.zip to my SD card and extracted it there next to the TTMenu file already previously placed. "The following already exists: TTMenu. Would you like to replace the existing file with this one? I click "Yes to all"
Then BAM! WinRaR: Diagnostic messages appear R4_custom_English.zip: Cannot create TTMenu
Access is denied
What do I do?

So what I did was go find the specific file "TTMenu.dat" and put it in the r4ysauto folder. I had this file from a failed attempt at doing this whole proccess manually. This time I ran r4.bat and I didn't get the "cannot open" message. I did get something asking to replace certain files. I answered A (always). It came out with R4_custom_English.zip. So I brought it to my SD card and extracted it.
Copy- replace existing R4_custom_English.zip.
Extract- R4_custom_English.zip
Replaced all existing files with the same names when asked.
Bam, cannot create TTMenu.
I extract it in a different folder and it makes TTMenu, a 20 kb file. It occurs to me that a folder shares this same name... So I have to rename one or the other... I remove the folder and input the file. Then I decide to test the SD card so I put it in my R4 and... Stuck on the "Loading..." screen.
What did I do wrong?

^ That's the 1.17 ttmenu.dat you want. use that ttmenu.dat to replace the one found in dstt.7z in the r4ysauto folder. it has to go into the archive. if winrar doesn't do 7z files, uninstall it and install 7-zip instead. it's a much better program anyway.
you can also replace the ttmenu folder with the one from the latest official firmware if you want, but it's not necessary.
when you replace the ttmenu.dat, make sure the archive has the same name that it did before. don't have extra files or folders, just updated files like the newest usrcheat and pictures of your choice in the skin folder.
only run r4.bat
and clean out your card completely. anything that has to do with any firmware, just get rid of it. the only files and folders you should have are for games and homebrew.
assuming r4ysauto runs smoothly, if it's winrar giving issues, that's a problem with winrar.
Wow, thanks Sweenish. I haven't gotten the problem fixed yet but I do suspect that part of the problem was Winrar, as I've never even seen the file you mentioned before until I got 7-zip.
Could you be a bit more clear about how to put it in the archive? I can't just drag and drop it seems. I just figured out how to use 7-zip as my default, since it was trying to open 7-zip with adobe. all you should have to do with dstt is double click it so that 7zip opens it, and then drag the new ttmenu.dat into it. choose to overwrite the existing file. make sure you're using the patched ttmenu.dat (the one i linked to, not the one from the official 1.17)

I just got this for a certain game(not sure if the rules allow me to mention titles here, I just signed up today). Well I got it to work and load other games, but this one in particular, when I try to load it, it goes through loading, patching, and all the way through step 14, but then I get an error:

I have a question about the options you see below the rom information. What does the DMA option do? This is just a question out of sheer curiosity.

i tried full format, and downloading the roms again, but i still get the white screen.

Here's the problem. Wen I try to drag the new TTMenu.dat into the zipped folder, it says, "Not implemented". If I click add (plus symbol) on top it says, "Operation not supported".
So I unzipped dstt and put the TTMenu.dat it, then rezipped. However, now I'm right back to where I started. When I run r4 it says Error, cant find TTMenu.dat.
I swear I've done everything right because I've tried everything!!! Here is what is in my SD card:

Hi can anyone help me i've just got a R4 V2 i know its a clone, i put kernal v1.18 on it and it worked ok except it wouldent play games unless i
put a saved game file on first this led to the problem of not being able to save. so i tried R4YSAuto v0.0.2 it loads the games ok but then freezes
a couple of minutes in to the game.any ideas

Just tried downloading the .zip file and update on the 1st page, and I am getting the following error:
".... r4ysauto.zip could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator."
Anyone else having trouble downloading the files?

i just stepped in but i looked at your problem
i use r4ds and the ONLY things i have on my card are "TTmenu(folder) and _DS_MENU.DAT"
it works perfectly
and i see that you dont have _DS_MENU.DAT on the root of your card
you NEED _DS_MENU.DAT for r4ds
but i dont know if you already hat that???

because if you only want to use ysmenu you should pick on step 6 "1"

Yasu's homepage doesn't even have some sort of archive for ysmenu files (the one supposedly needed for this?) or I'm just stupid. Sorry, I'm new to this. Any pointers? I've tried manually creating ysmenu file through the other thread, but it gives me cannot execute r4patch or something error. Why can't someone just upload their working files?
