I know the softmod hack will only read backups at 3x instead of 6x but does this just apply to DVD-R/+R discs? Would a pressed backup be read at 6x or would it still be read at 3x? I'm guessing that whilst the Wii might see it as a "proper" DVD and not a burned disc it still won't run it at full speed, right?

If he'd started a new thread just for this, fair enough, but he didn't.

He made a thread of this, before posting here. And there he states that he got the game to work, just not the way he wants. I have a big problem with people saying "How do i get the game xy to work on a NTSC Wii", while they should say: "How do i get game xy in NTSC interlaced video mode to work, i only get it to work in PAL interlaced, but my tv doesn't support PAL". And he can't seriously tell he searched, there was a thread about the very same issue, and the result was, PAL video modes work, NTSC progressive might require patching but works and NTSC interlaced doesn't work, even if patched.

If you use a cIOS to read originals they will run at 6x, but maybe it's using the dvd video reading commands instead of the wii disc reading commands. That's nothing to worry about until you get a problem with an original, and anyways if you only installed the cIOS and use Gamma or SoftChip to run you backups, your Wii reads the originals with nintendo's IOS.

Your copy line should be:

copy /b part1.iso+part2.iso+part3.iso mario.iso

You are missing the .iso at the end of each part.

(If you ever need to troubleshoot what might have gone wrong you can always place "pause" after the copy line.

copy /b part1.iso+part2.iso+part3.iso mario.iso
pause

What the pause will do is leave the black screen open stating press any key to continue and will display what has happened above it

Thanks for trying to help, but this doesn't work either.

EDIT: Thanks, got this sorted by asking on another forum.
Using the cmd, I needed to point the drive at the correct folder first.

Hello, I'm just wondering this.

I have a Wiikey and as you already know, the GCN audio fix in FW 1.9s is broken.

So, the question is, if I install the cMIOS and then use the GC Backup Loader, the games that need audio fix *could* work fine, even if I have the chip?

Thanks!!!

Is it necessary to have my Wii connected to the internet for softmodding to work? What I mean is I have system menu 3.1 at the moment and have no way to get my Wii online, so I was wondering if there is any offline way to get system menu 3.2 and if that is even mandatory?

I've been reading about Softmii and so forth needing an internet connection, I tried using the search function here but I couldn't find an answer.

Thanks a ton for all help!

I don't think you can, unless anyone has sorted this over the last few weeks? Anyone else know if we have an online free pack yet as I need one too.

Gosh, i'm sure a lot of people are going to have sympathy for your pet peeve of newbies being ignorant of the exact terms you prefer they use regardless of their actual knowledge of the subject. Perhaps this person does not have a good understanding of the basic knowledge about PAL and NTSC - his other thread seemed to make it clear that he's not quite sure. Interlaced? Gee, he might not know what that means either, or he might not know much about TV support - but that's okay because he's in "NOOB PARADISE" asking for help, and you completely failed to give it.

It seems to me the purpose of this thread is for the knowledgeable to help the unknowledgeable. If you're going to be a dick about someone not asking in JUST THE WAY YOU LIKE, you should probably offer your advice elsewhere.

Yeesh. Try and be polite everybody.

Ok, i will stop flaming people in THIS thread, even if they tell something like "game xy doesn't work", while it actually works.

Im trying to upgrade my Wii from 3.1E offline too. Ive found a few posts on it but there seems to be lots on conflicting info. I think its possible and its just a matter of obtaining the correct system menu for your region and the correct IOS wads.

Here are links to two particular threads Ive found helpful:

Offline Downgrading

Updating with no wifi

Let me know if you guys come across any more info!

Sorry - I thought your bat file was in the same folder as the part1.iso etc.

Although you have it sorted all you need to do in the future is have:

part1.iso, part2.iso, part3.iso AND blahblah.bat in the same folder location. EG: Folder on the desktop called mario contains the 3 x iso files and the 1 x batch file.
create the copy line in the batch file as instructed before - copy /b part1.iso+part2.iso+part3.iso mario.iso
Double click the batch file and it will execute without having to use the cmd line.

Going via cmd is a little more complicated but works just as well if completed correct. Glad you got it sorted

Hello
smile.gif

I am (among others Im sure) trying to upgrade my Wii from version 3.1E offline.

So far I have extracted the SystemMenu-v290.wad file from the semi brick disc. Extracted the following IOS files from Mario Kart PAL .iso :

IOS17-64-v512.wad
IOS20-64-v12.wad
IOS21-64-v514.wad
IOS22-64-v772.wad
IOS28-64-v1288.wad
IOS30-64-v1040.wad
IOS31-64-v1040.wad
IOS33-64-v1040.wad
IOS34-64-v1039.wad
IOS35-64-v1040.wad
IOS36-64-v1042.wad

And Ive put WAD manager on my SD card. But im a bit stuck as to which order to proceed. What order should I install the files. And also do I need anthing else?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

erm, i dont think there is an order to install them in so long as they're all there. but are you 100% sure you know what you're doing first? lol dont forget, its easy to brick doin stuff like this!

i wonder what'll happen if you install them without installing systemmenu-v290.wad. would it just show 3.1 in the setings or would it show 3.2 still? or would it just not work? lol

EDIT: btw, i've fixed Mplayer CE smb problem. turns out that my ip was wrong... even though it was working the other day lol strange, probably my dad doin something and it changed the ip or something lol

Thats why I haven't done it already. I want to make 100% sure I dont brick my wii.

Id rather wait til I have the money and shell out for the internet connection hardware than try this and mess it up. It seems like it would work though. I just want someone who has done it to explain it a little more.

i think you should take a look at the topic just below the stickies, about downgrading offline.

essentially thats just upgrading to a lower firmware. but for you it would be upgrading without an internet connecton

I did some searching and didn't find anything. So then if your tv doesn't support pal then there's no way you can get pal games to work? I have a standard tv btw.

hey, i've recently installed the twilight hack and downgraded my firmware from 3.4U to 3.2U.
i've burned a copy of Super Mario Galaxy (NTSC) using IMGburn on a Sony DVD-R and a copy of Metal Slug Anthology(NTSC) using Nero8.
i used Custom WM to install cios_fix.wad. and wad manager to install wads such as DjTaz_gamma_loader.wad, IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad, and IOS38-64-v3609.
I installed everything on Starfall and installed the shop channel IOS51.
After everything i did, i loaded up Gamma Loader and launched the game but it just black screens and nothing happens.
i press 1 and the config menu shows up but it still doesnt launch the disc.
i also rebooted it with hooks..and still nothing. sooo is there a step i missed out on? any help would be appreciated! ty!

EDIT: i get either a "No DVD error" and a green flashing screen using Gamma Backup Channel and Gecko OS 1.07

Hi! I just downloaded the 002fixGammaLoader and have some Q's. The following files are found here:

Put onto SD Card\WAD\Backup_Loader_ZELDA-BKUP.wad
Put onto SD Card\WAD\Wiiish-BKUP.wad

What are the difference? Are they the same loader??

And, if I wanted to make my own wad with pics and stuff for the GammaLoader do I use the file found here: Put onto SD Card\boot.dol

Thanx for ya help!!

Hi everybody, I've been lurking for a little while and tried searching but couldn't find an answer to this. First off...

My Wii specs
3.3U firmware (has not been downgraded or modified...I have teh dial up...)
running HBC with wiigator's backup loader version 0.3
using (for now) maxtor and verbatim DVD+R (they work with no problems but I'll switch to -R when I get some cash)
Burning with Roxio 10 with no problems

My problem:
I have "procured" taiko no tatsujin wii. It was originally compressed into 1.83GB (in .rar format) and when unpacked is 4.4GB? (I'm at work so I can't check) I've read that it works with wiigator's back up loader but I have seen a few people say it doesn't (compatability list says it works). When I boot it up it gets to the opening warning screen that pretty much tells you not to stab somebody with the tatakon and i press a and i get a disk read error screen. Tried forcing pal, ntsc and changing it to the japanese language for the console but i get the same error. Will it run or do i need to downgrade or something and also is it possible to use the back up loader to run a japanese game? Because I'm more than willing to import this game if need be...I'm buying the controller as soon as i get a sure answer. if you need anymore info let me know or pm me but that's all i can think up.

Thanks in advance.
