Hacking Still having trouble with DQ5: Hand of...

So I tried alot of things past 2 days.
I thought maybe xenophobias patch file I got from frozen roms might have to be renamed? Idk
The .bat file made me a "patched" game, but I never got off the boat.

I got the latest USERCHEAT.dat and activated the codes,but neither one gets me off the boat.
I tried both Backup Enabler/Game fix code (version 1) and (version 2)

I also been searching around google and such forums and found a "patched european version", but It didnt get me off the darn boat either,haha

Am I doing something wrong or something?

Oh, and by the way...to get off the boat all you gotta do is talk to the captain right? then walk out and the boat will dock?

What brand of R4 are you using?

Would it happen to be the one from R4DSL.net?

oh, you mean the "Brand new R4-III Cartridge with gilded phosphor bronze interface"

Nope
I got the regular one. I had kernel 1.18, but i just updated to the YSMenu or whatever its called.

I got it to work now with the cheat codes on. I think all I had to do was talk to everyone?

I broke a few barrels here and there too. Hopefully it won't crash in this "cave" part I keep hearing about.

I'm in the cave, is there supposed to happen anything in there, i rescued the herb guy, but nothing else is in there so i left.

Also, what difference is there in the 2 codes?
