GBA Software News

[*] GBArms 2.2 Final version is out. It corrects most bugs, and enables plugins. Expect new plugins soon, as well as a french version of the soft. Download it here (RAR~780kb) or here (ZIP~800kb).

[*] HAM 2.8 was released today. This is one of the best and easiest development tool for GBA. It's not free ($29) but the only annoying thing when you are not registered, is the logo that shows up when you load the rom. Get it here.

[*] VGBA 2.1 - do not get confused with VBA - was released on November 22. It is an excellent GBA emulator, which isn't free either ($35). Visit this page to know more. By paying for the author's, you will also encourage him to continue working on this and other emulators. It takes a lot of time and effort to create this stuff and support it.

[*] GifOnGBA 0.3 is a smart tool that can load GIF files on GBA. It's very easy to use: all GIFs located in the tool's folder are saved as a .GBA file. Download it here. A soft by Teka.

[*] HOT NEWS! OfflineList 0.7 is scheduled for release this week-end (or next week). Remember this version will include multi-dat support (including the GBC dat, and a lot of other consoles and handhelds!) and you are even able to make your own dat (why not a MP3 dat? or a DivX?). As Replouf66 told me, the soft is released when the PCE dat is finished, and when some docs - help files, I assume - are done.

You cant get the demo here is a quote of why u cant get it

I am sorry that there is no demo version on this page. For some time, I released free demos of VGB-Windows with sound and some other functions disabled. Unfortunately, in spite of my pleas against it, these demos were "cracked" and defaced. Thus, I had to stop releasing demos. If you wish to use VGBA-Windows, you have to buy it.

By wat djgarf say so buy it
i meant that the free emu vba is loads better goodkupo!!
i would not want to see ANYBODY waste their money on a emu that is nowhere near as good as a freeware emu
i would rather see people donate money to forgotten (the author of vba) than see marat (the author of vgba) get it!

I'm confused.. which one is better now GBArms or Offlinelist ?

 I have used GBArms
GBArms will be "offline list compatible" in version 2.3, so you can have nice GBArms interface and features with Offline List "clean" rom CRC dat... Best features of both programs...

VBA is the best emu ever and the author is great person to hand it out to people like us for free. This is not right, 35 dollars ?! Thats wrong. I would rather to buy real GBA instead of this emu for 35 dollars! This author is ridiculous. I am refusing to dl it. Nice try, author but no thanks. VBA rules and its best!

Beep! I am out! *poof*

I hate how Marat Fayzullin and Martin Korth both decided that they would make people pay for their emulators, as if someone owed them anything... VGB wasn't anything special, but on the other hand No$GMB was the best emulator in the world, I mean you could debug assembly code with it AS THE GAME WAS RUNNING! -- Great, but still not a reason to pay for it, it should even be illegal to sell emulators...

Anyhow... HAM is something that is worth paying for. Even though most experienced GBA programmers can make their own HAM easily, it's a very (very very) good tool for programmers of any level, and the VHAM IDE that goes with it is brilliant. HURRAY FOR HAM!

"on the other hand No$GMB was the best emulator in the world, I mean you could debug assembly code with it AS THE GAME WAS RUNNING!"

And that's exactly why the author decided to sell it. It might be too expensive for the home user, but for a (smaller) company it is probably a very good dev tool and a lot cheaper than the offical dev kits (I don't know how much they are, though).

I don't get it why so many people are lamenting about those emus being sold - if you don't want to pay for them, don't use them and play on VBA. This way, everybody is happy.

glad some of my ideas where introduced in this new release

like the button to play in upper corner (better button needed)

some issues still here tough....

1 TO DO - It doesn't remember windows diomension, everytime starts windowed not full screen as needed

2 TO DO - Well done for the different tabs for different things (boxart, nfo,.. etc) but there should be a main one with all the info in one to have a complete view on the rom, there is space so why don't put it

3- TO DO - Downloding images should be set also in the way that puts each image in different folder (gbafront style), i mean there might be two ways of downloading, one like now (if someone likes it) and one that puts each image in the right folder (box/snap/title) with just the number as name and not with t s or x at the end; I think this way is better and more ordinate.

4 - DONE (better button needed in my opinion) - Clicking on the name of the rom on the top of the tabs or a button on the right side (opposite of flag) with the Play function could be useful

5 - TO DO - Resource downloader scroll bar in the downloading tab should go down as new files are downloaded and not be stuck where you leave it (as in the logs of burning progs for example where it comes down as new things appens or in mirc).
