xdelta3 seems to actually create slightly larger patches using the same source/target with the same flags. You can reduce the size by about 10% if you use secondary compression -S djw but it's not really that significant, unlike some of the methods Noitora mentioned which will save ~98%.
Whatever you think would be the best... I have no clue on this really, but I can learn as I go.
I just want something that is simple for people to use... If that means the patch is 32MB, fine, its not THAT big.
If i can get the file size down and still keep it easy to use, then I'd love to hear about it, so give me a recomendation.

So how far does this translation go to?does it get past the part where you help the old man find his son?:wtf: just want to know.
The translations go up to Ch3

Ch 00 - (Intro) Escape / Mysterious Labs
Ch 01 - Pretty Stone / Yushidora Cave
Ch 02 - Dog Tags / Culvert
Ch 03 - Agel's Treasure / Mt. Mjolnir Abandoned Mines

Finding the Old Man (Olav)'s son (Corum) is a quest, not part of the story.
There are 4(?) quests that are partially translated along with the Quest Info menu screen.

Did you check any of the solutions I gave you?
I tried out bsdiff, but I'm having some issues with it. After completion, the output patch is something like:CODEBSDIFF40[NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL][NUL]The system cannot find the file specified.
Though I think I have found the problem. I will test it more today.

rtpatch is commercial, and at $2750 a license, its a bit out of my range.
And I cannot find anything on Ninja, UPS.

==================================================

I cant get bsdiff working.
Using the proper syntax, including bzip2.exe and bzip2.dll in the folder, adding the folder itself to my PATH, I still get the same file output.

Actually I think the translation is up till chapter 2... I mean, after the legendary white peach quest (The old man's one) the script goes back to japanese... I didn't have time to test if it gets back to english but it didn't seem so :\

Actually, the translation is up to chapter 3.
I know it's up to chapter 3 because I verified the text length in the files and then compiled the files into a rom and uploaded the patch.
There are spots of Japanese text, but I believe that is part of the Quest scripts (the s0#### files). As soon as I get more to check I'll add them.

oh yes, sorry you're right (of course you are

) but there was a huge gap of japanese text when I finished the old man's quest till I got to geffen. The part where you have to find the boss who went to the pub etc etc... anyways sorry if I doubted you, I was sure you were right but I was afraid you may have uploaded a different patch or the wrong file or something
wink.gif
just wanted to double check everything just to be sure..

also keep up the good work, the patch is awesome! Really

Oh, I'm glad I read this, because I stopped playing it, thinking that the translation stopped after the old man's quest.

Anyways, this is a really nice translation so far. If I read kanji other than the basics (days, time, numbers), I would help. If possible, I'd like to help fix the grammatical errors in some of the text (some of the tutorial and a few parts in the old man's quest sound like they were taken off Google Translate, and thus have really bad grammar). Some of the text also sounds like a direct translation, and doesn't really make alot of sense in English.

Well... Progress has been pretty slow lately.
The bulk of the work is the 190 Storyline scripts and 631 Quest scripts (conversations with clients / explanation of story quests). The Quest scripts account for roughly 65% (filesize wise) of the translation work to be done.
I think part of the reason why progress has been slow -- aside from people having real life to deal with -- is that GoogleDocs has a 40 page limit, so even though we've been working off 5 sheets... that's only ~200 of the 923 pages. So as the pages have been filling up with translations, or pages being removed as they are added to the wiki, people thought that the project was finishing up.

I will probably release another patch today/tomorrow.
Additional translated material will be minimal.

Thanks very much for the patch! Everything works well with one exception: after I successfully patched, I couldn't access the cheats anymore off of my CycloDS. The window that asks whether if you want cheats to be enabled never shows up. I looked through my cheat table file and the cheats for RO DS seem to all be there. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Ah, figured it out. Looks like the game ID changes. (Should've used the search function first, oops...) Let's see if that fixes things.

Yes. Each patch changes the GameID.
I have asked, but never got an answer if it's possible to manually set the GameID.
Since it changes each time, I've held off on giving out the ID, however, I may start to put the GameID below the patch date.

How To Update GameID For Special People

1. Open your Cheat file with the latest R4CCE (you can download R4CCE here: http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=76852).

2. Scroll down to Ragnarok Online DS and click on that button:

1973.jpg

3. Select your patched ROM:

2370.jpg

4. Check if that ID changed, if it did, save your cheat file and move away from your computer, if it didn't, you probably selected your normal ROM:

3112.jpg

5. Don't ask me any follow up questions.

6. Really.

Some cheats are not working with the patch for some reason... so... you're fucked :3
Try the movement speed one, that should work.
