twewy is the best rpg ever not a fanboy, the game had awesome graphics, an ok story, unique battle system, nice songs, chrono trigger is a soso game, not the greatest rpg, if anybody says mario rpg he/she is freaking blind, and for all the ff7 fanboys, ff7 had an awesome story, but the gameplay and graphics were crap, ff8 to me is the best hands down.

Chrono Trigger is not only the best RPG on the DS, but the best RPG on any console ever

I agree with you that Chrono Trigger is definitely the best RPG on the DS. However I find myself to prefer Final Fantasy 9 over it when it comes to every RPG ever released.

The second best RPG on the DS is Final Fantasy 4. I really enjoyed it and the story (as I never played the original).

However I cannot understand why people even liked The World Ends With You. I tried to like it but found myself putting it down very quickly and never wanting to touch it again.

yeah it should have been I can't believe it slipped my mind, ffcc is one of the best also, the story was awesome, awesome graphics, gameplay was slightly above average, almost didn't play because of the one from gamecube.

I think most people who do not like TWEWY is because they either have no idea how to play with both screens at the same time or have no idea how to correctly use pins and such... lol j/k I liked it because of its gameplay. I have yet to see any game like it. Its unique awesome and intense especially if you are controlling both characters in the bottom and top screen. Its in Shibuya! that itself is amazing. I've been to shibuya before when I was in a study abroad program. It was awesome to see the game looked close to identical to the real Shibuya

. a real world place in a game. add some rpg elements a new unique successful gameplay that totally involves your stylus and the touch screen not to mention the mic as well. I liked it also because every rpg before and after TWEWY is the same thing Similar Gameplay and similar stories. Same leveling up basics same thing about weapons giving u upgrades etc etc As in TWEWY is different nothing like rpg's before it and after it. Of course this is all my opinion lol if people do not like it then let em be! lol I for one wish more rpg's to use the touch screen alot more like twewy did and have a completely new Story element instead of it always been the same with a few diff things thrown in..

That is why I say TWEWY is my fave rpg on a DS from my perspective

Chrono Trigger followed closely by FFIV and DQ (both of them if you count rocket slime).
FFTA2 would be second if we count SRPG.

And I am another one that hated TWEWY.

Chrono Trigger need i say more.

TWEWY is a close second with a great sound track and story even though the main story was short but replaying gives us a more detail background and more insight into the TWEWY world. I like the idea on how eating food and digesting it increase your stats but i find limited the amount to real time per day was a gimmick to the play time. Of course you can alway cheat and change the date on your DS and lvl your pins. The deal breaker on TWEWY was the battle system, it was one of a kind and was only possible on the DS. You either love it or hate it. Controlling bother character on manual was difficult but leaving it on auto make it boring even with all the pinned to chose from.

MOTHER 3 - Not an actual DS game, but my favorite RPG that I played on the DS.

Hmm. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was decent. The story wasn't the best, some dialog wasn't great, lot just didn't make sense, really didn't like Chelinka by the end. But the main voice actor was good, which could actually make you feel bad for the main character, Yuri. Also, the game was too short, only like 8-10 hours... And some dungeons were just retarded(You could do some puzzles the right way, or you could cheat to get around in the dungeons..) The multiplayer is also fun.

Final Fantasy 4 was as good as it always was, I guess. They should've gave Cecil a better voice, though, like Kain. Again, some dialog was pretty bad, but overall pretty good.

Contact - Wanted to play it, but I hate the battle system. So haven't gotten around to it.

TWEWY - Played the beginning, but it takes too long before you can save... The music at the beginning gives me a headache, I couldn't save so I just shut it off. Next time I played, same thing happened. So I'll get around to it.

Chrono Trigger - I'm going to play that again, soon.

FFIV: Ever since I lost to that trial boss, I didn't bother playing it again =/
TWEWY: Extremely OVERRATED, I must admit its a decent game for an average adolescent/adult gamer.
DQ4: I seriously don't like the enemy-on-the-screen kind of RPG so I won't play it.
Soma Bringer: Still waiting for the translation to hit 100% or at least 99%; also I don't know how to make the patch for it in order to play it on english =/
Chrono Trigger: It's a so-so game, I might not get to the part where it gets really excited so I'll leave that alone.
FFCC:RoF: Would of had been better if you can go on wifi, besides that it was an awesome game better the repetitive replay value made it tedious to do it with a solo character over and over again. It was a decent RPG none the less.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood: I'm ashamed of you BIOWARE!! You could of have done better, luckily your foreshadowing credits does show potential for a sequel to come. I'm not going to give the spoilers away, the only thing you should know is that there's a sequel for this game.

---
RPG DS games I want to play

Kingdom Hearts DS - I never had played Kingdom Hearts, EVER! So hopefully this DS game will show me what's the freakin' hype is all about.
Knight of the Nightmare english translation - This game is the third sequel of the company from the Heaven Dept. They were the ones to make Riviera: The Promised Land and another game from the GBA. They also made Knights of the Nightmare which only came out for Japan; hopefully Atlus can publish it into the USA.
FFCC:Echoes of Times - Finally the awesome from the prequel of FFCC:RoF, a RPG game that can go wifi with other people.
Pokemon Platinum: Same thing as Pokemon Emerald, also a new world to explore and more trainers to fight with.
Tales of Innocence english patch: I look at the Japanese version of Tales of Innocence and I like how its an action RPG which I'm starting to enjoy more then the standard RPG.
Legend of YS I and II: Can't wait for that one to come out, knowing Atlus their plots aren't that boring.
Mario&Luigi RPG 3: I did beaten M&L:PiT and M&L:SS; the first one was way more funnier than the second one. I'm looking forward to this one.

Absolutely!
I'd never even heard of Disgaea before the DS port.
I love the gameplay, the story, the graphics, the music; Everything about it.

Oh and one more thing...

How can you like a game before it came out?
xD true yea TWEWY is a bit overrated
but it's most of those game critics-like people who think that
I'm also sure Kh will be a big hit =)

-Cannonbeat the patch that Darthnemisis made is like the real thing u don't really need it to hit 100%
-Kuraudo there is no actual English game but there is a translation which makes it completely playable

My top RPG for the DS would be Soma Bringer. After it was released half a year before, I couldn't let go of my DS for some 3 or 4 days. It was really awesome. and made me miss playing diablo.lol

and a ton of Runner Ups:

Phantasy Star Zero - Just finished it the other day(lvl34). Really nice game & multi play system.
Chrono Trigger DS - why CTDS? Its Chrono Trigger. Nuff said.XD
TWEWY - Awesome "NEW" game by Squenix. I'm yet to finish it though.
FFCC - Multiplayer Fun!
FF4 - one of my all time fave FF games(along with 6).
Blazer Drive - Card battle RPG that kinda reminds me of my magic:tg days. Yet to be finished caused by the release of PS0 and...
Ragnarok Online DS - Nostalgia and RO with a real story.

other RPGs also worth to look on:
Luminous Arc 1 & 2
FFTA2
Dragon Ball Origins

Currently trying Suikoden DS. gets better by the minute. =]

If I also had a ton of spare time, I'd also like to try these RPGs:
knights in the nightmare.
hercules no eikou
Fire Emblem
Tales series on the DS

I Dont really think Disgaea is a RPG, more like a tactical stradgy game. The only part where you could run around freely is in your mansion, but its still an amazing game!
