for orders over $50 or so

GbatWC i think it is

makes it.... $95 aud inc postage to your door

66usd
47 euro
45.5 Gbp

etc

That ain't that bad is it?

The product is expensive, there is no price fixed conspiricy between retailers

If you are waiting for something else -- please tell me you are waiting for solution for some feature you think it missing...
Don't wait for a cloned producted, this kind of product is one that will probably need software support, something you don't get with cloned products

I live in germany, i wouldn't have to pay taxes, but i would have to pay Zoll, it's not the same, but the result would be the same. I found a reseller in europe who sells for 45 Euro with taxes, that's a little cheaper, but i don't know if the price is real or if it's a fake. But i have no reason to complain about the price, i think 50 Euro for the features it promises while it's still brand new is a good price.

I really would prefer this over a modchip. Some people use backups because they worry about their discs, lol. I worry about the laser of the drive. And this doesn't require soldering, that's a big advance.

Yea, my thoughts exactly WiiPower... it's almost as if you are just adding a gaming sister to the pc which has its own main resources... How can you really go wrong with that? Did anyone ever say if this is 100% compatible with all Wii games? as well as GC... It is definately for someone who is planning to have their pc close by... I don't think I've ever come across a long usb cord over 10'... I think something happens if you make the cable to long... but that is just a guess.

If the cord's are too long things can get screwy. That's the way it works for extension power cords anyways. I just can't see a 20' cord anytime soon.

Seems like everyone on GBAtemp has less and less money everyday! How did you guys afford the Wii to begin with? Ahh thats right, santa got it for you (I joke, I joke)

never have people complaining about solderless d2pros etc, and they are only $15 less. We sell over 30 a day, every damn day!

Prices are in AUD, and also 10% GST, that international customers don't pay, its deducted at checkout.

Refurbished wii DVD drives are cheap, yes - but they usually have a 3rd party laser replacement in there, so how long is that going to last?
The Wii is a console, that plays games, Flatmii is a way to play backups but ur wii has to be close, there is a major difference. Modchips are well known and trusted, Flatmii just came out, so ppl are hesitating to buy it.

P.S. I got my Wii for my birthday 2 yrs ago !

I guess the big appeal is that it works right now with D2Nothing.... and future 'unmoddable' drives.

I'm not in a hurry to get one... I'll just use my mod chip for now.

I guess it's possible that load times may be faster too.... kind of like running games off the xbox hdd.

OzModChips,
Dealextreme used to sell the mod chips for dirt cheap - not sure about anymore. I can't speak for everybody, but the reason I refuse to buy at $70-100 involves two prime factors

1) No reviews and hence no indication as to its quality. I don't want to have to re-buy another device when it turns out the thing i paid $70-100 for is utter crap

2) There is NO reason this device should be priced @ $100. The parts required of it are worth probably a couple dollars. I understand R&D is majority of the cost, but jesus come on, $100?

Setting the price this high is just BEGGING for someone to come pirate the piraters

I would also buy this instead of a modchip !

No soldering, no more dvdrom pb, all the games on a big harddrive available.

This is defintly a great product if it comes true !

50€ seems to be a good price to me, not that expensive imo

Well, considering that I've already burned all the good Wii games to DVD for use with SoftChip, (and the fact that there aren't very many good games on the horizon) I think I'm good on this. It's a cool concept however, and I agree with some of the people that I would rather have this instead of a mod chip.

If i had known you shipped to UK i would have got my chip from you it would have probably arrived faster than it did from the UK seller i used
biggrin.gif

does the shipping to UK bump the prices much?

If this flatmii device turns out to be real im interested as it would make a nice companion for my chip

Im just concerned about how it will all fit in the wii, theres not much room with a clip in there

the $2 fries at mcdonalds cost less than 5c to make, so why don't they sell it for 10c at a 100% markup? why do they they sell it for 2 bucks, thats a rip off.

You need to understand that in a perfect market, people will sell goods for whatever the target market thinks its worth.

Supply and demand, do some research into economics before you open your gab.

The same could be said for the majority of the workers who work in factories oversees.

Workers get paid 17 cents an hour to make stuff, and in turn, the company takes what they made and sells it for $20+

The workers never see any of that money.

Thats what some companies are doing. This is pretty harsh though but its real.

in the mcdonalds example (doesn't apply to the overseas factories though) there is an overhead to be covered.
I know this as i work at a fast food restaurant. chips are probably our most profitable item which covers costs to some other items. Costs of running a place like macdonalds are things like : employees, bills, delivery of the items, maintenace, covering intial cost of the fryers, the oil put in the fryers (contrary to popular belief, the oil IS changed).
I honestly don't think that selling an item which costs $1 to make should be sold at 10000% profit is reasonable.
I understand people want to make a profit, but make it a reasonable profit

Well the same thing could be said for the Wii.

Its cheap to make, but they sell it for $250
not that cheap, It surely costs more than $10 to make.
Nintendo also had YEARS of research and development behind it, with lot of people involved.

Wow, just wow. You're preaching to the choir.

Oz, I've got a Masters in Austrian Economics, thank you very much. I'm well aware of market value, scarcity & value, and am an advocate of Free Market Economics.

When a product like this comes out, the supply of it is scarce and the demand is high. However, other companies in the market will quickly fill in the gap for the supply side of the equation. I'm willing to wait a month or so and allow the market to rustle through the madness and pay 25-50% less. I also want others to test/review before putting my hard earned cash down.. Some others don't have that desire. That's their right as a consumer.

So I would advise you not to challenge people without knowing a little about their background.
