BibleQuiz by wplaat tests your knowledge of the Bible, just in time for the Christmas season. The game is open source, and allows you to test your knowledge of the bible.

Did you know that Jesus wasn't born on December 25?

No, the shepherds were in the fields (Luke 2:8-12). Shepherds were not in the fields in the winter time. They are in the fields early in March until early October. This would place Jesus' birth in the early fall. It is also known that Jesus lived for 33.5 years (33 1/2 years old) and died at the feast of the Passover. He must therefore have been born six months the other side - making the date around the September/October time frames.

Should a Christian celebrate christmas? No, they shouldn't because there is no Biblical warrant, precedent, nor precept for remembrance of the day of Christ's birth as a day of special religious celebration. This is not to say that we shouldn't remember Christ's birth and its significance, but for religious commemorations or celebrations, we must have Biblical command or precedent! The fact of the matter is this -- the early church did not celebrate Christ's birth, but such celebration only came into the church with the "Christianization" of pagan rites as Catholicism was made the state religion by Constantine in the fourth century A.D. Since the Word of God does not support the tradition of Christmas, a Christian's conscience ought not and must not be bound.

So, we should listen to God's Word is with the ear of the heart. You people should read and study the Bible and you will find the truth. The church is not the answer. Also, never TRUST any priests and sisters who are seems very kind and nice to you. You won't find anything about nuns in the Bible because nuns as they exist now did not exist at the time the scriptures were written. Be careful.

RockmanForte, I don't know if you confess Jesus as Christ, but Christmas is a day to truly celebrate. The exact day has differed a lot through the millenia, but the commemoration of Jesus' birth has been widely spread. I see no wrong with churches accepting a common day such as the 25th of December as that day. In your example you make a sad generalization of what Christmas is, and from whence it came. Even if it was due to Roman solar cultists having a feast that day, I think it's a great way for God's work to be displayed in the changing, reclaiming, and restoring of his history.

To me personally, this verse from scripture serves as reason enough to greatly celebrate Jesus' birth.

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for see---I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. this will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!"

Together with the angels and a multitude of the heavenly host, who all belong to God, I will celebrate Jesus for all eternity.

On your remark about nuns and priests I note that it's your personal viewpoint. None but God knows who is a true Christian. The Spirit will testify. Anyway, I will respect your opions as yours but for me I have all the reasons to celebrate the joyful day of the Saviour's birth!

To keep it (a little) on topic, perhaps a quiz about Christmas will appear in this game. I wonder what'll be the right answer.

Until you acknowledge your utter dependence on the Father (in the name of God), the Son (Jesus) and you will always be blind to the Truth of the Bible. Christimas is false. Jesus wasn't born on Christmas. Do you understand ? Are you still that misunderstood ? Indeed, you are.

The worse part of being misunderstood is when you say something that's ... to the things you said...and until today, I respect you also.

Wharrrt? Why shouldn't we have an agreed upon day to celebrate Christ's birthday? No-one's entirely sure when Christ's birthday is, so an agreed upon day is the best we can do, and at the end of the day, the date isn't the important part.

I think it's utterly ridiculous you say we shouldn't celebrate Christmas. Do the Father and Jesus not say in the Bible say we should praise them? And that's what we should do.
Obviously, Christmas is far too commercialised, and a lot doesn't really correlate with how we should really celebrate Christmas, but the fact we should still celebrate stands.
And for the record, we are allowed free will as God has made it. Just because the Bible doesn't explicitly tell us to celebrate Christ's birth, it doesn't we can't or shouldn't.

QFT, 100% agreed. At the end of the day, it's not our place to judge, even if a lot of Christians come across as doing so :\.

Also, it's awesome to see a Quiz on the Bible. Personally, I'm not going to do it, but it's still awesome, and I hope anyone who does it has fun. Kudos to the guy who made it!

Well... To my understanding:

Birthday/Christmas celebration is a sin. I repeat: Jesus wasn't born on Christmas nor celebrate birthday and that's why you guys do not acknowledge the answer to the Holy Bible.

Yes, read the bible and you will find the answer but study the Bible. Don't just read a verse or two and call it good, get into it which you didn't! The Bible is deeper than you will ever be able to dig, and wider than you will ever be able to travel. You could study the same passage every single day of your life and still not exhaust its full meaning and application. So set up a regular time to study God's Word, and don't cancel that appointment for any reason. Start with gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and use the observe, interpret, and apply steps and soon you will be amazed at the transforming power of intense Bible study.

I will stop right now.

Back on topic:

This game might be inaccurate anyway.

actually, they were no cult, at the time Christianity in rome was the cult. and I am a little insulted by you insinuating all pagans are cultists.

and, the other posters here are correct, December the 25th was originally a celebration in the Roman empire called Sol Invictus. the date was just adopted by Christian cults at the time as a matter of convenience

Sorry for offending you. If you don't want pagans to be cultists by all means, and will call myself a Christian cultist if it pleases you. I will also bring you two generally accepted definitions of what a cult is:

Cult
1: formal religious veneration : worship
2: a system of religious beliefs and ritual ; also : its body of adherents

(this was just to answer for myself, I brought my discussion with RockmanForte to a PM)
