I feel the same way as you guys (and gals perhaps). As a way of showing your appreciation you could send *Legion* a quick thanks, he'll appreciate it.

If you have any questions, comments, corrections, or complaints, e-mail me at [email protected]. I’d love to hear what you think.

Also, to mods: I also think this should be stickied, not for personal praise (I just linked to someone's work), but to help the community. It's a real time saver for PSP noobs and it really stands out in the crowd of tutorials.

problem is does the guide cover both psp slims and fats? are the methods the guide recommend up to date? i know most guides out there have very outdated information and can always mislead people who don't know anything about hacking psp's

The information on this guide is pretty up to date. I think the "latest firmware" when the guide was written was 3.80, and the methods since then have not changed that much. Also, it looks like the author updated the guide on on April 20th, so the information is good.

Yup its for both slim and phat (because its the pandora battery method). The method is pretty up to date, but of course there are going to be new firmware releases all the time. However, he explains that that you can update through the psp itself. He also says that he'll update the guide in future. There is one main thing he left out I think (or maybe its there but couldnt find it): how to put it into NO UMD mode. You can't load ISOs or CSOs without doing this OR by putting a UMD in the drive. To put it into NO UMD mode you have to go into the recovery menu by holding the R button while turning on. NO UMD mode doesn't have as high compatability as putting a UMD in the drive though.

I also agree that this should be a sticky topic. So many basic (and advanced) questions answered here. Hell, just the list of suggested emulators alone is worth a sticky, let alone the tons of other information.

They must be EBOOT.PBP
You can rename the folders they're inside, or include a text file with what the program is in the folder with it.

A Pandora battery (or you could hard mod your own battery but for $10 why take the risk?) and a Genuine Pro Duo Memory stick between about 256Mb and 4Gb in size. Then you're in business.

Thanks guys, ordered everything I need!

Do I need an official Pro Duo Memory stick? I have a 4gb Sony, however it doesn't register as a MagicGate...
Did not work.

Received my Datel TOOL battery today, made the magic memory stick, inserted both into my PSP... and all I saw was a black screen.

Going to buy an official memory stick right now, so hopefully that'll work.
