The first one made me really appreciate how Pokemon is so damn good... and I don't even like Pokemon that much.

There was a certain troll at GameFAQs that "loved" the first one. I found it to be boring, repetitive, dull, bland and whichever negative adjective you see fit. This one seems to have been improved, but still, it doesn't look really appealing...

I never played the first one... was it really that bad? It's hard to imagine anyone could screw up a pokemonish-type game (which requires a fair amount of effort to make, even if you're half-assed about it) that badly. Plus, I like the occasional space-RPG type game.

So every time I hear about it, I get an urge to give it a shot... but the thing is, I only hear bad things about it. What's so awful about it?

The first game was too slow paced and the digging and battles became too tedious after a while. Although I hear this sequel has improved on these elements.

For starters, not sure about this one, but the combat in the first one was real time. So right there that isn't going to appeal to a lot of pokemon lovers. Personally I quit playing after a battle or two so have no idea how the rest of the game was. Anyone know if they changed the combat at all in this one?

Strobe 1's battle system stayed the same throughout - ice skate in circles around the rink and periodically bash attack. The only thing vaguely Pokemon-ish was the collecting element... and the overall gheyness.

This many posts and nobody even tried it? I guess I'm just as bad since I haven't touched it either. Then again I never touched the first one or even cared about it.

The game is actually good, much better than the first one. It is not a super incredible game, but it is fun, the controls are a bit weird but you get used to them.
