A simple question.
Sorry if this is asked many times.

Will the Nintendo DSi support SDHC cards or only the old SD cards?
SD cards are limited to 2GB.
SDHC cards can be 32GB.

Hopefully, if they definitely went wrong with the Wii and only SD support. I should think it will because it is a newer device and almost all new devices today support sdhc.

Probably just SD. Nintendo has been aiming at the very casual a lot this gen. It'd annoy people if they couldn't use the same cards.
plain SD can be used in SDHC slots.

I'd say there's a 80% chance that Nintendo is going to just use regular SD.

While this is true, you know there are going to be customers who buy an SDHC card for their DSi and then get pissed when they can't use the same card on their Wii consoles. Due to this, I'd say the chance of them using regular SD is a bit higher.

Probably gonna sound like a stupid question but do you know if manafacturers have pay to use the technology in the same way as CD, DVD and MP3?

They could always just market their Nintendo Brand SD cards and have it say For Wii on them and for the DSi cards say For DSi on them. Then they might sell twice as many.

Fully agree with that. They have already said you can take the pictures from the DSi and put them right into the Wii. That itsn't possible with SDHC, and a lot of causal people won't know why it's not working. It's 100% possibility of plain SD in my mind.

Hmm. I'm curious, are there no SDHC-to-SD adapters? Hear me out, it may or may not be as stupid as you think. The adapter would read the first two GB of the SDHC and pass that on to the device (in this case, the Wii or DSi) in the format of an SD card. Click a button on the adapter and it jumps to the next two GB.

You'd obviously need to format the thing into 2GB partitions, but as long as you only wanted to use the card for the DS and Wii, it could work, and would save at least a little time on switching out cards.

That doesn't sound stupid at all!

I have a 3d party memory card for my dreamcast and its 4 times that of the official one and as in your idea it does actually have a button and 4 leds and you press the button to change what part of the memory you want to use and the led lights up to show this.

The only problem i can see is if it were micro sd as that is very small and no room for anything extra to be added unless it sticks right out of the DSi, there is an adaptor for the psp which takes 2 16gig cards but sticks right out and that would bother me.

There's also the possibility of more rampant piracy (like there isn't enough of that already, Flashcarts and all) with higher capacity cards. Look at the PSP.

You mean you have 1 GB "Micro"SD left since you've replaced it with your "Micro"SDHC for your cycloDS?
Your post make me so curious.

Come on, you can always delete the old stuff and replace with new and fresh, just like everybody's doing with the Wii's storage

The PSP hasn't had a Piracy check with higher capacity cards, that is a design bug in the early versions. Currently sony released a 16GB card wich can be used in the PSP, and they stated they are working in a 1TB card, wich they think can be used with the PSP 3000 or future versions
