I just bought a D2Pro9 V2 + V4C Clip pre-soldered from foundmy.com. I installed the wii clip, plugged in the wii, turned it on, and tried to insert a DVD. The DVD drive wouldn't suck in the disc. I unplugged it, opened it back up to see what was wrong. The instructions say that you have to use a razor to remove the wii clip because it fits so tightly onto the chip. Not mine, I was able to effortlessly remove the wii clip. Baffled, I tried to reinstall the wii clip. Using all my might, I press it down onto the D2B chip, but I heard no click, and if I try to remove it, I can do so effortlessly again. No matter how much force I use to try to press it down, it seems the wii clip won't seal. I have no idea what's wrong.

I'm a first time modder. My Wii is a D2B chipset with cut pins. I've always avoided modding because I don't want to hold a soldering iron up against a $250 Wii. I guess I was operating under the mistaken impression that a 100% solderless wii clip and d2pro 9 would be easy to install. I should have had someone install it for me.

I'm uploading a video example, to make it clearer to people just what's going on.

After examining your clip's font and other things, your clip looks like a fake.
Try to get a refund from foundmy.com, if not, your pretty much screwed over -_____-'

I feel so bad for you.Next time buy from a more trust-worthy place like modchipcentral.com

It's a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake?!

I thought it was an original one, after viewing Wii-Clip.com/original, because it has writing on the bottom. I will take a picture of the front right now, just in case.

I don't think I bricked my Wii, at least. I turned it on without the mod chip, and gave it the Wii Fit DVD, and it sucked it down like a healthy Wii does. Then I turned the Wii off. There's one non-totally-catastrophic element.

I started worrying about having a bad experience with foundmy.com after I looked up their resellerratings.com review (after I made my purchase), but by then it was too late to reconsider, so I just hoped for the best.

Edit~I just received a reply to an email I sent to Wii-Clip. He says that my clip is an original, not a fake, and that I should request a replacement. Which makes me wonder what happened during the installation process that it didn't work.
It's REEAAAALLL!

I hope not. I paid $22.00 extra to have the D2Pro9 V2 soldered onto a Wii Clip because I am afraid to do the soldering myself, and if you still have to solder after paying extra to have it pre-soldered, then that defeats the purpose of buying a solderless solution.

But this is really all academic, because the Wii Clip won't stay on the chip. There's no way to seal it on.

I don't know how to short a CLK jumper, or remove a CLK jumper and solder between 2 J points. I just thought I could clip it on and it would work.

Yes, I sent off a message to foundmy already, but if I don't know what exactly went wrong when I was trying to clip it on, then I'm probably doomed to repeat that same mysterious mistake.

I wouldnt worry about it, if the same thing happens, get a refund, and buy a presoldered D2SUN, it works on all dvd drives including the cut legs one

D2Sun. Huh, no need to to short a CLK jumper, or remove a CLK jumper and solder between 2 J points. Looks like the D2Sun is as simple to install as I thought the D2Pro9 would be. The installation page does say that you need to cut the CLK line for DMS/D2A/D2B chips, but I assume Foundmy would do that as part of the extra $7.00 "Installation Wii-Clip Kit: Soldered Together (DMS/D2A/D2B)" thing. However, it seems that Foundmy's return policy is for exchange of the same product only, no refunds. It sounds like when I return the faulty D2Pro9-V4C, I will get another back.

How do YOU install a Wii Clip? I know everybody says that you press down hard and hear a click, but obviously there is more to it than that.

Well seeing as how I don't know what on earth went wrong the first time, I can't see myself trying it again personally, for fear that the exact same thing would happen. If it is in fact the case that I installed the Wii Clip incorrectly (which I doubt, as I followed the instructions exactly and even watched several youtube video examples of people installing it to burn the process into my head), then nobody has really told me what I did wrong and how I should do it correctly next time, so I'd just make the same exact mistake. If I'm able to get the D2Pro9v2-V4C replaced, I will pay someone else to install it and test it to make sure it works.

No need to spend money to install it. What you did was 100% correct. It wasnt your fault, it was the clips fault XP. It's likely that the wiiclip was defective or it got damaged in shipping. No problem.

Yea sounds like a faulty clip,

How much pressure did you use when putting it on for the first time? when you removed it does it look like the little pins are bent, or pushed back?

A moderately hard amount of pressure. Even though I used a lot of pressure, I didn't hear a click.
I don't know if the Wii Clip pins are bent, they're so small, hard to see. Can you tell anything from the hi-res pictures I took in the first post? I can try and see if it's possible for me to take closer up photos, but my camera doesn't have a macro lens or anything like that.

Yea its a bit hard to see, its just ive had a clip return to me with the pins pushed right back (was strange), if your sending it back for replacement its no problem just a delay, but it sounds like you did it right.

I returned it to the store for a replacement, and they are saying that I damaged the clip, and that one side of the part that fits on the Wii is damaged, and that my options are to purchase a new clip, or they can return it to me and I can desolder it from the clip and then solder the D2Pro9 v2 myself. Obviously I don't know how to solder, so I would try and pay someone to do it for me.

But what's really on my mind is that the dvd drive wouldn't work during my first attempt at installing it. Could someone speculate on why exactly the dvd drive would not work and would not suck in DVDs during a D2Pro9 v2 + V4C installation attempt?
