I got AnyRegionChanger to get the japanese nintendo channel, and it all went smoothly. I then used the Menu Loader so I could boot the channel, but it's giving me a 117404 WiiConnect 24 error. My US Nintendo Channel also had that same error a few minutes ago, but it has now disappeared.

The error says that WiiConnect24 is not available right now, and that I should wait a while for it to be available again.

Is this normal right now for jap. channels?
Or is it caused because it's on my US Wii?

Yeah this happened to me too. It's weird because it doesn't happen when I use the European Nintendo Channel, just with the Japanese.

I'm having the same problem. Seems to be hit or miss for people, I don't know. If anyone figures this out please let me know.
