Flashcarts FTW! Seriously, there is NO downside! I'm in it for the homebrew and ethical reasons. They're a monstrous corporation, they ain't going nowhere. The last thing they need is money from my broke ass.

i prefer the original cart, flash carts have done alot of damage to my ds (turned it into a paperweight) put it simply.... i got bored

Using stuff like a flash cart always has it's risks. Just like modding a Wii or other console.

i don't quite understand what's so risky about using a flash cart. the console isn't being modified at all.

That makes a lot of sense. Now that you got complete and total access to all DS games ever created at no cost you got bored with it but before that you didn't. [/sarcasm]

Lol that's certainly strange but funny nonetheless. What game case? ACWW?

Flashcarts are better for the consumer. Sucks for Nintendo and their 3rd party's, but I don't care about them.

You only have to buy ONE flashcart as opposed to multiple purchases of games you like. You can download a bunch of games on one flashcart for free as opposed to buying a bunch of carts with only one game on each of them. The practicality of flashcarts should be obvious when compared to actually buying DS games.

From a business standpoint, flashcarts are the spawn of Satan, but to consumers, they are a godsend.

Morals shmorals, free better than pay. Especially when you can't take a game back when you discover it sucks.

Hmm, well, not all the games are shitty on the DS. I think that if you steered away from the shitty games and tried all the great games you couldn't put your DS down. At least that's what it is for me. Games like "Horsez" and "Dogz" should be avoided like the plague but you should at least try The World Ends With You since you can get it for free and it is a really fun game.

PS: 900th post. Hellz ya gbatemp!

Should have been clearer about the risks. The risk of using a flash cart lies mainly with a bad flash cart. The main reason I went with the DS and flash cart is the lack of need to modify the DS unlike the PSP.

i think the value of buying a real cart compared to just a rom on a flashcart lies on what's in the package.

I bought GH:OT by the time it got in the shelves here and the guitar grip was the _only_ reason i bought it. I also got useless stickers. might've been better if an alternate skin was included. and don't forget the box and manuals.

heck, if i was given the chance to preorder Izuna 2 on amazon i'd do it. i know i would, but i just couldn't.

back to the topic, flashcarts FTW!

Well there are many ways on how a flashcart can be risky... for example there are the brickers... so u can get a bad homebrew or a "game" from a site and be a bricker and end up voiding your warranty and having a bricked nds... ppl used to do that to exchange phat for lite nds's but i guess nintendo doesnt do that anymore...

Other way is with a bad quality flash cart... that can mean a lot of risk since some of them end up bricking it as well... (in the worst case)

So yeah... It can be risky... but i still love my r4... I still buy some great games or games that i really like... (pokemon, FFCC:RoF, FF IV, etc) but if you know what you are doing... Having a flash cart is safe enough.
