So technically, the modchip installers kill this little person and replace it with a chip. Now everything makes sense XD

Sort of..The Modchip is an evil cage that traps the little people inside pocket dimensions, where they suffocate and die! (This gets rid of all the evidence and bodies)

STOP THE MASSACRE! Every modchip not sold is one person not killed!

Won't someone please think of the poor modchip victims that die every day because of our unbridled lust for homebrew, hacking and the like?

It's more complicated than 'pressed' and 'burned' discs.. Asia is awash with pirated pressed discs, which you still need a modchip to run.

I can vouch for that. The pressed pirated media for games being sold here in the Philippines won't play on Wiis without modchips.
Pirated games for Wii go for as low as PH P50 or about US $1.10 (using dvdr) to as high as PH P180 or about US $3.96 (using pressed media).

How It's Made - Compact Discs

Until your able to do that, and know the exact coding Nintendo puts on the area of the disc that isn't writable by common DVD Burners, you'll never be able to make a Nintendo Wii official disc!

Thanks for that - didn't know how they made them.

Datel have their own press and have been pressing discs for Gamecube (Action Replay). The Wii and Gamecube Discs are basically the same (except for the actual content), so the only thing they needed was the trucha-signature, and simply press a Gamecube disc with disc-id (first byte) set to 'R' instead of 'G'.

OK to set the RECORD STRAIGHT HERE!

COMMERCIAL GAME DISKS as rightly stated the information is PRESSED/STAMPED right into the blanks not etched/burned onto the media!

ALL dvd burners no matter how expensive they are! ... on the PUBLIC market CANNOT!!!!! burn the track zero/track1/lead in whatever you want to call it.. track onto a disk/blank ..... this initial un burnable/writable track contains the REGIONAL information/ID checking/toc/ Protection code the games console (whatever one it is wii/gamecube/ps1/ps2/360 etc) needs to boot the game from initial insertion to loading the game
smile.gif

The modchip/exploit/bootloader/other+patching of the iso's in some cases.. etc bypasses or fools or skips over/REPLACES/injects this needed information into the consoles memory and boots it directly into the game
smile.gif

and thats basically it!

So exactly what's the current thing that's preventing us from creating a bypass?
And what makes the Wii different than any other console that already has a bypass for them?
I honestly just want to know

Because we don't know what happens in Hollywood (not the place, the chip inside the Wii...) but something that it does stops something. Also, the Wii will have different security in it than other consoles. Otherwise we would have a SoftMod for it since week 1.

They PRESS THE FREAKIN DISC!!!

You don't have access to a press... and you probably never will, unless you start your own. Datel copied the information from a Wii disc, and put that in their PRESS. When you get a PRESS, and a team of coders that are paid thousands and thousands a day, and are able to PRESS actual Wii discs, then you can make a bunch for me. Until then, STOP ASKING! YOU DON'T HAVE A PRESS, YOU CAN'T FAKE A PRESS, AND YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO!!!!!

There is some debate about this. If all that made a disc legit or not were the pre-recorded data that the PC frive needs to write data to the disc, any DVD drive could read wii discs and they would not need Descrambling post-ripping.

I believe it is also the structue of the disc, but I cant support this.
