Oh yeah, I can touch type. I sometimes have to look at the first key before typing, but after that I can pretty much touch type naturally without even thinking where the keys are, I just know. I'm entirely self taught, too, none of this "Touch Typing Teacher" crap. As my Bebo account states, I can apparently hit 70 WPM, which while can be beaten, I'd still say is very impressive.

Only time usually when I have to look at the keybord these days is when I'm making ridiculous amounts of mistakes and I have to get my bearings straight

Or, of course, if I just want to, lol. Touch typing definitely helps me pick out mistakes when i immediately make them, instead of making a mistake while looking at the keyboard and end up having to correct a bunch of mistakes (which can penalise you badly on a word speed exam).

My speed at typing was never great, but on a good day I can hit between 40-50wpm. Meh.....I manage just fine.

I'll be honest and say that when I took the class in school, I didn't take it seriously. Wish I would have paid more attention and worked harder at it.

I still make a lot of typos.....what they call habitual mistakes or some such thing. You know, transposing characters, the occasional space in the wrong place, double-letter-side-step That's what I like to call it.....for example, I'll take a word like school and it will be scholl when I proof read the text. I tend to make lots of little mistakes like that.

I correct them when I catch them, but they still trickle through.

I'd say as far as typist's go, I kinda suck at it. But technically I CAN do it. Half the time I'm holding a cigarette in one hand so I end up typing in a sort of mutated touch-typing method, which results in most of the errors.....not to mention a filthy keyboard on many occasions.

I wish I took my fourth grade typing class more seriously too..
Everyone hated it, everyone cheated.
Ah.. I'll learn the proper way one of these days.
