I understand that this is an annoyances thread, but I feel it's only fair to counter a few statements made, since they are based on ignorance or false information... So, here goes:
Antihero2007:
"What really annoyed me was the poor quality of the dialog, going on forever not really saying anything or being entertaining at all, it didn't suck me into the story and infact at the start of day two I just turned off the DS and stopped playing. I also don't really like the art work, it's too busy and the combat system didn't appeal to me either."
Dingler:
"Endless dialogues. Tacky voice-samples. A terrible game."
The dialog is well done. There are no misspellings or Engrish phrases; all the dialog is well formed American. There is a _lot_ of dialog, so if someone doesn't like reading then this game probably isn't for them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
The artwork is a bit busy, but it's kind of hit or miss. You'll either love or hate it. For what it is, it's amazing, but it's very colorful and at the low resolution the game presents itself it's easy to get hard on the eyes.
The voices are spot-on for their characters in my opinion. I've heard people say they figured Beat's voice would be different, but I found it to be exactly what I had imagined. The voice actors really get in to their characters and aren't flat like, say, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (the PSX game, that is), or overblown like, say, Dragonball.
cris92x:
"The only part i hate... the controls... I am sorry but i mean.... I want THE Freakin ICICLE PIN... stop shooting the horizontal bullets....
and then the top screen... it always gets me killed... on auto it sucks... when i play i sometimes forget to press the combos..."
"Yeah i kno but then later in the game ... i usually want to use other pins and since they last in order i cannot get them to activate until the 1st ones are wasted....I have found like 3 poeple at my school who have the same problem as me"
The Pin activations can be terribly frustrating. It's not common but sometimes the pins just won't activate no matter what you do. Most of the time, however, they are very responsive. It is very possible to have multiple pins that activate with the same action. In this case, the leftmost pin activates first, followed by the next one to the right. This can be used to your advantage, but can also be a pain if you need a specific pin. Most people don't realize this but there are two things you can use to prevent the horizontal shots from going off instead of the icecicle, for example. First is the SUB pins. Select a pin you have equipped and tap L or R and it will show SUB at the top right of that pin. That makes it to where that pin will not activate unless you are holding L or R in battle. Second is the ability to rearrange your pin order whilst in the middle of battle. If you pause in battle you can rearrage the order of your pins. Press Select in the pause menu to undo the pin reordering.
Dingler:
"I really don't get whats so great about this game? I think people glorify TWEWY because the've gotten use to sub-standard showelware. This is a mediocre game in my eyes."
There really aren't many topics about this game around here so people wanting to know about the game are likely to hit this topic up. Having said that, you should probably refrain from purely opinion comments, as they can easily confuse people. For example: why do you feel it's a mediocre game? What about it is better than most games, and what is less good than the great games?
engruzii:
"but what i hate the most is the kingdom heart art style cause it looks too damn gay "for me at least" plus the main character is one big bi**h i mean saying some sh**t like "the world only needs me, i don't get people,.... etc" that's just too gay "for me" to handle & i gave the game a chance for 4.5hr's then i just had to delete it form my cart & my PC"
You only played the game for 4 hours and you're basing your opinion on that? You probably didn't even get past the first half of the first week. The main character has a negative personality at first, yes. Maybe you haven't been in his position but he doesn't say what he says for no reason <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> People are often quite put out by Neku's personality initially, but rest assured he's forced to understand the fault behind his loathing.
I have to agree that your use of the word "gay" in a negative sense is quite offensive. Perhaps you could come up with some other way to express your distaste for the game?
dawn.wan:
"i also found it stupid that we buy the gear... but the character graphics remain the same... if it changed to refelect your equip'd gear that would be god like...but no."
I agree. There are so many wonderful clothing designs throughout the game, and no chance to see more of them than a little sprite. I suppose it's understandable considering the size limitations, but seeing Neku in Pegaso threads would have been pretty slick. On the same token, Neku in pumps and GothLoli dresses would have been... entertaining, but disturbing.
Joe88:
" also the first girl you meet dresses like she has been whoring around town... "
I think you've know some pretty shoddy girld <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
One must understand that this whole game is based on the current pop culture of Shibuya, which is essentially the pop culture heart of the world. Outfits like Shiki's are quite popular, and it's mostly the fault of us guys who like to see girls in those kinds of skimpy, sexy outfits. A small tidbit: women's fashion in Japan is very heavily based on what men want. Women will try to act child-like and cute far into their 30's just to make their men happy (most men in Japan are borderline pedophiles).
Heran Bago:
"The music. I just can't get used to nonsensical Engrish. "
There has to be some sort of secret code that says Japanese rap absolutely must be even worse in composition than the current American rap. It's terribly. However, I was generally pleased with the rhythm and beats of all the songs, despite the terrible rap lyrics of some songs.
xblackoutx:
"the music is horrible. i thought it was ok for the first 5 mins of the game then got horribly sick of it. "
The soundtrack for TWEWY is a mixture of J-Pop and J-Rap. J-Pop, for the uninitiated, is a mixture of 90s/2000s girl-pop sounds mixed with some light dancy beats and lyrics. If you're not a fan of either genre, then you'd be better off playing with no sound, for sure, as the music never really stops and tends to be repetetive sounding.
Turmoil:
"...but the clothes and trends (are annoying) the way pins only evolve with certain PP (ugg)..."
What about the threads are annoying? The trends are yet another beautiful spot where Square Enix and Jupiter put an ungodly amount of attention to detail. Each area in TWEWY is ruled by trends. This means that the popular pins do more damage, and the one least popular pin's effectiveness is halved. What threads and pins you and your partner wear greatly dictate the popular trends as well.
As far as pin evolving using certain types of PP, most people don't understand that it's actually quite easy to get that PP. Getting Mingle PP is as easy as A) mingling around other people in mingle mode (ESPers), B) other people with their DS on and in Ad Hoc communications mode, such as picto-chatting or sending a multiplayer game out. (Civvies) You can also have a Wii with the Nintendo channel sending out a DS demo. This counts as a Civvie. and finally: C) Leaving your DS on for a few hours/days to pick up Aliens randomly, which are worth 100PP a piece.
Killermech:
"Neku being an emo throughout 60% of the game... I don't mind emo main characters, but seriously. Does he have to remind you how emo he is in almost every freaking dialogue.
I liked Beat, too bad they made his character a caveman"
Neku was emo for maybe 20% of the game, and that's only if you don't count the aftergame.
Beat wasn't a caveman, but he was certainly not the brightest crayon in the box.
emgruzii:
"the hero can wear womens gear which make the game even gayer "thank god that the character graphics remain the same" or it would be really really nasty
& the way the hero acts i don't think emo is the right word, i think homo is the word "
I hate to tell you this but... You have the same ability to wear women's clothing too. Whether or not you do it entirely up to you.
Also, your use of the word "homo" is confusing. Do you realize that "homo" is latin for "man"? Perhaps you were using it as a shortened "homosexual", which is popular to do these days. Such negative use of words referring to homosexuals is highly offensive.

chrispinifer:
"What happened to respect? I know this is the internet but just because you're faceless and behind a computer screen does not make it fine to use words like 'gay' or 'homo' in a derogatory manner. I take insult to this as I am gay. On a side note, it's not fair how women have so much more choice for fashion than men do! *rant rant rant*"
I can say nothing more than "I agree" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
</offtopic>
azotyp:
"1) You cannot sell stuff to merchants so you will end with big trascan of stuff in pockets at the end
2) When you listen to favourite song, let's say it was played before entering game menu, normally in games that song would be paused and resumed, but here you enter enu for a second and they play another song (eaven when they was playing your favourite at the end).
3) Maybe like someone said before dont like that when I want to do one spell thee is another casting.
4) Time gauge for making spells should be renew in new battles (in couple of battles in a row)"
As far as 1, I somewhat agree. Every outfit can come in useful at some point, but when I have to get 2 of every outfit in a couple shops to max out the loyalty for that merchant, I end up with quite a few threads that I would just as well get rid of.
2: Yep, you're right. Kind of annoying sometimes <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
3: SUB system and pin (re)arrangement.
4: When you fight a noise, you're actually having your vibe tuned to the plane of the noise. When you chain battles, you fight the first noise, followed immediately by the second, never leaving the noise plane. It's really no different from fighting one big battle. That's why the pins do automatically reboot between battles... because there's really no between.
engruzii:
"well the word "gay" & "homo" should not be an insult if you are gay the word "faggot" is an insult"
Being so vulgar is unneccesary. Using gay or homo /in a derogatory fashion/ is insulting even to me, and I'm not even gay. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Joujoudoll:
"This game seemed a little emo to me... "
I can only assume by your statement that you only played a few days worth of the game.
Diablo1123:
"Don't really see any replay vaule though
They should've added a better mutliplayer mode
like battle
Give a reason to get good pins "
If you beat the game and go on to attempt to get full 100% completion, you will very quickly find the need for good pins and good decks (shadow matter, anyone?). Going for 100% also gives the game very considerable replay value.
dj_biscuit:
"yea I already seen that one but in the same thread is said that it probably is a fanart. D: "
Actually, you find out at the end of the game that she looks exactly like that. You actually can see her whole body, eyes, face, and all ingame.
shiroitaka:
"I loved jet set games... however i really didnt like this... apart from some of the stylin and tunes this is no where near as good "
Very apples-to-oranges, wouldn't you say?
El-ahrairah:
"Tin Pin
Beat. He's OK as a character, I guess...but his fighting style is just too stupid. It was like he was meant to fail.
You can't run from Taboo Noise. This wouldn't be much of a problem if you could have the option to retry on other difficulty setting than "Easy".
Japanese rap. It must be a law that says every rap song in Japan must have the words "Uh", "yeah" and "come on" in it. Sheesh. Oh and the part of the song where it's sang "...the right to get another portion.", it sounds too much like "...the right to get an abortion.""
Many people say Tin Pin, and I agree. You get better as you play more, but it's annoying to learn a whole new game just to get 100%. Having said that, FF8 and 9 were kinda the same way. Once you get past the initial annoyance and get the hang of it, Tin Pin sucks less.
Beat is generally the only partner you can use to fight off aftergame bosses. Josh and Shiki are just not powerful enough.
No, you can't run from Taboo noise. If you could, they wouldn't be Taboo noise would they? I agree that having the ability to retry on Normal when you die in hard would be nice.
"It must be a law that says every rap song in Japan must have the words "Uh", "yeah" and "come on" in it."
When was the last time you listened to a little western rap? Every song is made up of "uh", "yeah", "come on", "whaddup n****", etc. And the words that are actual words tend to be encased in terrible grammar. "...the way i'm are... in one rap song."
Commander:
"Does the fact that the game is boring and tedious as hell count as an annoying thing.
On top of that terrible control, you need two brains and 3 arms to play both characters at once.
Too much boring dialogue, stupid characters, the list goes on."
I would personally like to say: thank you for your highly informative post.
How is it boring or tedious? God of War is generally considered one of the greates games of all time... what do you do in it? You hit Square and Cross a bunch. Then you die, reload, and do it again. What about Metal Gear? Shoot that guy, sneak around, shoot another guy...
As far as the control: you certainly don't need anything abnormal to be good. If you have trouble controlling both chars at once then just set your partnet to instant auto and leave them be. On the other side of that coin, you can pump up Neku to have high defense which will make him take little or no damage most of the time, in which case you can ignore Neku and use your partner.
Not sure why the dialog is boring or the characters stupid. Mostly because you don't state any reasons as to why you felt that way.
dawn.wan:
"...just with emo graphics in my opinion."
What exactly are "emo graphics"?
NDS_N00B:
"- the fact that the pins that you get won't be like all together with a number telling you how much of them you have (like when you master them). I do get that pins evolve in diferent ways and with different types of experience points so they have to be separate, but they should had implemented that equal pins with no exp points whatsoever should be all together so that a person could send them to the trash in just one move (instead of sending one by one).
Not really a problem but besides aliens i never "cought" anyone else on the Miggling...I Have a CycloDS, maybe it won't connect wireless? And my wireless network works fine (still getting a new Professor's Layton Puzzle every week)"
Pins never stack in the stockpile. Once mastered, all pins stack. As a matter of fact, mastered pins show the EXP bar as one color no matter how you levelled the pin.
Aliens are random while in mingle mode. ESPers are other Minglers. Civvies are people with a DS in Ad Hoc mode, but without TWEWY.
DeMoN:
"I hate that you have to wait for certain pins to level up and evolve. Like, you actually have to power off your DS and wait a few days.
And no WiFi=bad. "
What exactly would you do with WiFi if it was up to you? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Power off your DS, remove the game, set your calendar 7 days forward, then load up TWEWY. Bam. PP. Save, reset your clock to where it belongs, and everything's set.
Long winded? Definately. But this game deserves a fair chance. It's not perfect for everyone, but it is by far one of the best games to come out for any console lately.
P.S.
