Come on man, torrents = illegal. I would prefer to see this website continue to work. In addition, if you use google.com, its this amazing search engine, you can figure out anything you could ever want to know about what to do with your files....

Wow. What an ignorant idiot. Torrents are not illegal... or is HTTP illegal now because you can transfer illegal files with it, too?

On topic - You'll need a torrent client like Azureus or Utorrent to actually retrieve the file. The .torrent file is simply a file that instructs your client what to do.

The site does eeeeeeeevrything possible to train everyone in all the ins and outs of how to pirate, but simply doesn't want to show you where to use your skills.

Personally I find that iiiiiincredible hypocritical, but it isn't my site, so hardly my cross to bear.

Torrents file associations are just that which initiates a download. If you don't have torrent software on your computer, your computer will have no idea what a torrent on a web site is. Legal or otherwise.

Once the file arrives, it's whatever you downloaded. So if the file was a legal file, or something you shouldn't have, it is going to be precisely what you downloaded AFTER the download completes (not before). If you have only 99% of the file downloaded, you likely have nothing without that last %.

If you download an iso file, you better know what to do with an iso file.

Its like that so the site doesn't get closed down.

Yeap, if we allow or post links to rom sites or sites with illegal content and so on or even allow downloads of Roms, this site could easily and be quickly shut down. Its legal to have information on piracy, just not the actual act of doing piracy.

Which is over kill obvious. My question to you is do you understand the meaning of hypocritical

I've been on plenty of gaming forums, 90% of them wouldn't allow 90% of our linkless conversations

Teaching how to pirate, isn't much different than showing WHERE to pirate.

They are not being hypocrits. They have a position on it (which is obviously different than yours), but they can only allow so much in order to keep the site running. Nothing hypocritical about that. I frankly am tired of all the preaching that goes on here sometimes. I understand having to follow the forum rules, but I dont like some "member" going around talking about the morality of pirating, etc. Enough already, geez.

Stay on topic guys.

To OP, you might have a hard time starting a new thread asking for this kind of help without preaching from other members about piracy. I'd rather you search the forum because it saves your time, our time, bandwidth, and everything has been answered before.

Preaching?

Hell I don't care if everyone on the site actually does download all their needs
smile.gif

I just find it odd the site can be so concerned about links to the content, but so casual about the rest.

If I was to look at the site objectively, I'd come right out and call a spade a spade and consider the site every bit as pro piracy as the site where I actually get the roms from. I think the only significant difference between GBAtemp, and the rom site of choice, is likely my rom site is in a country where Nintendo has no power.

I don't know where GBAtemp is actually located, not important to me to know though (not my problem eh).

If the site was squashed tomorrow, aside from that sucking, and aside from my needing a new place to hang out, that would be about the limit of the loss to me. Hey can't help being honest about it.

Now back to torrents. There's always a wrong way to do everything, and the wrong way is usually the easier of the choices

So you need to make sure your choice was the right choice, and not go with the quickest one all the time, as it might not be the right choice.
