Hi Everyone,

I've had a search through various sites and can't find any mention of the problem I'm having.

I have a copy of The Dog Island (as well as the original disc)
When I load the copy it goes so far, begins the game, allows you to name your dog, cuts to a scene where you see your dog and it's family, then comes up with a black screen and says its a Disc Read Error.

I have tried the original disc and it works fine.

I'm running a UK modded Wii with Wiikey (with latest software update)

Anyone else having the same issue? I know I'm probably not missing much as it's probably a terrible game, but if I want to find out if it's my wiikey at fault, or if all wiikeys have the same issue.

Cheers
Baz

My first downloaded copy was scrubbed, but since then I got an original version of the game and ripped my own copy from there.

Both copies have the same issue

Well, I know I'm not much help - but it's probably a compatibility issue with the Wiikey and won't work unless they fix it in an upcoming update (Lord only knows when that will be!

).

You could try downgrading your Wiikey firmware (if that's possible).

The game you're trying to play doesn't look like it's worth all the trouble, really.

But, there are other Dog Island releases (USA, France, Japan - if I remember correctly) that you can get and hopefully you'll have luck with one of those versions.

Cheers for replying anyway

You're probably more than right, the game probably isn't worth the hassle and I doubt I'll lose sleep over it

And I won't hold my breath for any wiikey update anytime soon.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it

@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates

    Sorry didnt read that part
