I love this game also, its so underated! I picked it up again last week, and I've still got some levels to finish

I've completed all conventional levels, and i'm on the new harder ones, but i'm stuck already on the one that looks like the play-yan character jumping in time with the music.

I will be keeping an eye on this project fo shizzle

I really wish I could have helped out with more of this. Damn my dirty western tongue!

But I hear there's a DS port of Rhythm Tengoku on the horizon, that's looking like a remake + stylus doodar ... something to keep an eye on.

We got this amazing wiki, full of english text. Now, how come no patch has been released?. At least put a parcial ips file from the rom that you've got.

Alright guys I'm sorry I have to say this, simply because I'm disappointed with my own dedication, and I really really hate having to say this and making previous promises void, but life has unfortunately taken over and I no longer have the time to continue this project.

That means it's free for someone to pick up and build on the work that has already been done - most of the stuff needed to continue is up on the wiki, so it's open to anyone with the know how to actually produce a patch out of it.

Once again I apologise to anyone expectant or enthusiastic about the translation.

If you dont have time, pass the project and all related documentation/tools to someone else. or better yet release them to the public.
There's not really much more I can say in that regard. I haven't programmed any tools (though I was intending to, but in the meantime things were being done more or less manually or with tools already available, apart from some changes I made to the open-source script extractor romjuice to get stuff in wiki format). Text is encoded with shift-JIS encoding, text pointers are all throughout the rom within event code (you'll notice I've included the offset of every string in pointer format to assist with locating them, this is exactly how they should look when you open up the rom in a hex editor, but there is a possibility some strings are referenced differently or do not have a pointer in the same format). Certain 'fancier' interface text is likely in a graphical format, but I wasn't able to locate any and/or work out the format.

There are control codes that are used for styles and formatting, I think I identified them all. Excuse the format they're in.

Not all control codes work everywhere, sometimes they have unintended effects or do nothing at all - my testing with them was somewhat limited.

Having to hack a font in to make the text smaller, or a hack to make certain text recognise certain control codes (ie. to make it smaller) so certain stuff can fit in English is likely.

Any other needed info should be on the wiki or in this thread somewhere. Good luck if anyone decides to pick it up, PM me if you have any technical questions (just don't expect a quick reply).

Dirtie: Did you ever workout where the font is? because i think i found it but its compressed somehow and i haven't bothered to take a proper look at it.

I've found the font widths which are helpful but without being able to edit the font there fairly useless, i guess i'll have to do a decompressor, or just make it use the uncompressed font instead.
