I'm having the same problem as some others. Mencoder always crashes. I followed the instructions and the first time I used it, it worked fine. After the first time, it has crashed every time it starts the video conversion. I've tried about 20 times since.

Any one fix this or have any ideas or good alternative options to BatchDPG.

I wish this would work. The one video that was successful looks excellent.

I have little problem with conversion . Normally when I convert film that is on fullscreen with subtitles (by bathdpg) the subtitles embedded with batchdpg are quite large and visible on my ds lite, but when I convert films that are wide (with two black bars on the top and on bottom) the subtitles embedded with batchdpg are coming very small and hard to read, how could i fix that ?
Is there a way to fix that (I use fulscren setings for moonshell from this post).

Try out my program I just made: DPG Video Editor, it lets you resize the video, and it works well with widescreen movies. You can even preview what the outcome will look like. It has a lot more features besides resizing though.

Check it out: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=73751

I'm having some problems with BatchDPG on my M3 Real.

I've converted some videos (avi and mpg), about 22 mins long, and it seemed to work fine. I can watch them on my DS using moonshell, but the problem is that the video will play for about 3 seconds, then freeze (but the audio keeps going) and maybe 1.5 seconds later, the video skips ahead to where the audio track is and plays for another 3 seconds before doing the same thing. So I have hicups every few seconds during the entire video.

I converted it using (mostly) the recommended settings from the front page of this post. The only differences are I did 2 passes instead of 3, had resizer set to bicubic, and didn't check "Normalize" for audio - could one of these 3 things be causing the skipping? Or is it a sign of using a SD card that's too slow? I'm using a Taiwan Kingston 1gb, so maybe that's the problem?

Also, I'm using the version of moonshell that came already on the m3 card, which I hear I should upgrade to the downloaded version. But could any of these factors be causing the problem I described? Cause if it's something else (ie: my card), and updating/re-converting won't fix it, I'd rather know before I waste my time fooling around with it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the guide.

I do not appear to be having any problems installing moonshell, BatchDPG, or the other required software. I also don't seem to be having any problems using BatchDPG to convert video files.

However, I AM having a problem running moonshell on my M3 Real. The moonshell installation added a moonshl folder, and a .nds file to the SD card. I assume I run moonshell by clicking on the the .nds file. When I do, I go to a screen with two icons; 1 for Slot 1 and another for Slot 2. When I click on the Slot 1 icon, I go to a screen with "DLDI Compatible" in the center, and "Loading..." in the lower right corner. Nothing ever "loads". Nothing further happens at all.

I'm sure I am doing something wrong somewhere along the line - most likely something simple.

I sure would appreciate any advice from anyone.

Thanks

John

Wondering if anyone could help me with this mencoder problem before I break my fucking keyboard?
I've tried multiple settings, video files of different extensions, converted to .MPGs and .WMVs, .AVIs, but about 90% of the time, mencoder crashes at video conversion. I can't figure out the problem, I've installed AviSynth, .NET Framework, ffdshow and all that shit.

If I'm lucky, mencoder doesn't crash. But unforunately I'm not a very lucky guy.

after jumping, the sound and video becomes out of sync, somewhere in the region of 5-10 seconds. Does anyone know what's causing this? It only happens when I jump to parts of video, and not if I simply watch it all the way though normally.
I have the same problem, I think the the offsets in GOP file must be wrong, because the GOP list helps the Moonshell do fast seeking. What's interesting is that if I encode the video with either 1-pass or 2-pass option, then the fast seeking works correctly.

My settings for 16:9 source:

[Video]
Framerate=20
Profile=High (good enough for DS screen)
VideoBitrate=256kbps
VideoBitrateMax=512kbps
Passes=2 (3-pass introduces out-of-sync after fast seek)
Resizer=Bicubic
[Audio]
AudioBitrate=96kbps
Samplerate=32000
Mode=Joint stereo

Lol, created an account just to reply to this.
I had the exact same problem. Sounds like you messed around with it much more than I did
Yeah, what pissed me off is that I had it working on my first system, but then when I reinstalled it on my new computer, mencoder crashed like this on me all the time too! Wtf, right?

Here's what I found works, (it's 4/4 successes for me so far)
DO NOT use the newest version of Avisynth (2.5.8 alpha)
INSTEAD, install the 2.5.7 final.
I have no idea why the alpha doesn't work; must be a compatibility issue.

Could someone please tell me about the difference between the resizers? (Bicubic, Spline16, etc)
I would like to know why they recommend using Spline16 and some more details...

actually, if you go into ffdshow video decoder settings and change MPEG-1 from disabled to whatever, mencoder.exe will stop crashing.

Help! I'm using the recommended settings and everything but the audio keeps doing a strange thing in the videos. It jumps a little every 5 or 10 secs and it's REALLY annoying and strangely, each time it jumps it sounds like it's playing on only one speaker for a milisecond.(It's not my DS or headphones since they do this ONLY in Moonshell). I have an R4.

i used the guide and followed it exactly and my video has out of sync issues. the sound is coming in about a half of second to early...

does anyone know of an app similiar to virtual dub (or nandub mod) that will allow me to open the dpg file and quickly and easily resync the audio? a dpg is a mpg video stream correct? perhaps the mpg vdub mod has a plugin that someone knows about to accept the incomming dpg file?

cheers,
