Hacking TTDS Skins

how do i make them?
i dont really like any of the skins that i seen

is that a program where i can make them? and if so what is it called?

EDIT: i should of looked before i posted this but the program isnt working for me
so can someone make me a skin?

The easiest way to make a skin is to edit a skin that's already there. So look in the "default" folder in the "skins" folder, make a copy of all the files, and then start editing them. The most important will be the two background files (bgUp.bmp and bgDown.bmp). Start with those.

One important thing when making/editing images is that the bgUp and bgDown BMP's must be 256X192 both.

Oh and also keep in mind of the middle gap of the DS when cutting an image. If you cut the image right in the middle it will look a bit awkward when displayed on both screens.

This are the images i'm currently using on my 3 micros as bgUp and bgDown. Judge Dredd, Mr. Eff and SoundWave. They still look a bit off, but they can give you an idea on how/where to cut them.

Oh well, ImageShack saved them as PNG's, but they are supposed to be BMP's.

Here are other images i planned to use someday, still haven't tested them on the DSTT to see if they are aligned, but they shouldn't be off by a lot.

One of these days i'll try to do some buttons... One of these days...

Guat stole your soundwave one brother hope you dont mind and if you dont, think i could take a wack at it an upload it to ndsthemes ill give total credit for the pics if not oh well sweet pics and will look better on my ds screen lol

Of course man no problem at all, all i did was cut and re-size the images, so it's cool

btw i re-cutted the SoundWave image, here it is if you want to take check it out, it looks a bit off in the web browser, but it looks better on the DS thanks to the gap in the middle of the screen. I wish i didn't had to cut the hand though, but is was either that or cutting Ravage' s head.

I still have too look how the other images looks on a DS screen, i'm pretty sure that the Gears of Wars image still a bit off.

must the images have to be 256X192 for it to work and if so, how do u resize them?

Yeah the bgup and bgdown have to be 256x192 for them to look right on a ds screen to resize them you can use paint shop pro for all your needs

@ Guat cheers buddy ill try both set of pics and ill start with whichever works better thanks for letting me use them
