I have a black Nintendo Wii from 2010. It has the Homebrew Channel, Priiloader, and BootMii IOS, but I’m having an issue with my new 250GB hard drive. Every time I connect it to port 0 for USB Loader GX, it freezes on the “Initializing USB” screen and doesn’t load the USB Loader GX GUI. It doesn’t seem to be a cIOS issue, because USB Loader GX recognizes my 8GB USB drive. I’ve already tried formatting it to FAT32 or WBFS, and I tried setting USB Loader GX to load on IOS 249, but nothing worked. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

Hello,

Post a syscheck report here to see if anything is missing.

Try using a FAT32 hard drive and try a Y-cable.

Is your GX version up to date?

Check if your external hard drive is formatted as MBR and not GPT.

Hey!

So, my USB drive is formatted as FAT32 and uses an MBR partition.
My USB Loader GX is version v4.0-r1283 (the latest version).

Perhaps your external hard drive is simply not compatible with the Wii.

Do not use a generic, off-brand hard drive. Use a reputable brand.

Its an Samsung hard drive

Samsung don't make external hard drives. That's probably an SSD. Note that SSDs are not widely tested to be compatible with USB loaders. I've had some success with them, but I've also seen others that have had issues with them. Possibly that model is not compatible. A Y-cable could help, if the issue is that the SSD needs more power than USB 2.0 can provide.

You said it was new. That changes things completely, how can you be sure it's not faulty?
