I bought the DSTT about 3 weeks ago and it worked fine until today. When I inserted the DSTT into my DS and "No DS Card" was detected. I tried many times and it is still the same. I am surprised that the quality of DSTT is so poor. Did anyone has the similar experience?

The store where I bought the DSTT listed that it carry only 7 days warranty only. Probably, I cannot exchange for another one and wasted my money.

I'm not completely sure, but logic tells me that the DS should boot to the normal menu if the DSTT card is not making any contact, so the people that are getting the "No Card" error should check their micro SD cards or at least try different kernels before doing something that could permanently break the DSTT card.

I say this because the symptoms of a DSTT card not making any contact would/should be the same ones as turning the DS with no cartridge on.

Guat is right -- there is no point in trying to "fix" your DSTT until you know if it's broken. From the description, it sounds like you're getting a "No Card" icon, which indicates that the DSTT is probably making contact (if it wasn't, you would probably see the normal NDS screen or you would get a white screen of some sort).

It sounds like your DSTT is no longer able to read your microSD card. That could be a problem with the DSTT, but is more likely a problem with the microSD card. Try reformatting the microSD card, make sure you use the "safely remove hardware" utility on your PC, then insert the (empty) microSD card into the DSTT. You should get a "Menu?" icon at this point (since you haven't installed the kernel yet). If you get to that point, you can be pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the DSTT.

Athang, let us know if your new one works. Did you ask the seller to test it before sending it to you?

I'm not convinced that cfc611's problem is the same as yours. The "No Card" icon would indicate that the DSTT is probably making contact with the NDS. It could easily be the microSD card rather than the DSTT.

Athang, when you boot your DS, did it shows a blue sad face icon with the words "No Card", or did the DS jumped to the regular DS boot screen?

If you got the "sad blue face" error, then the DSTT and the DS are indeed making contact, so the problem should be either in the Micro SD card itself(Bad Micro-SD), or the connectors between the DSTT and the Micro SD(Bad DSTT card).

However if your DS boots to the regular DS menu, then the DSTT is not making any contact with the DS at all and the bending/tape/sanding alternative could work, even though i still recommend that is better to exchange the card for a new working one.

If you fix your DSTT by bending it or taping it, eventually, let it be in a week or even a year, it will give you problems again.

I read one time a post from a guy that opened his DSTT and found that some joints were cold soldered, if that is the case then that would partially explain some of the inconsistencies in the Quality of the DSTT brand.

You know the DSTT thing reminds me of the Xbox 360 in some ways, both are excellent product when they work, but apparently getting a good one seems to be based on luck. Bad or good luck depending on what you get.

Same thing has happened in the Xbox community also where temporal fixes like the Towel Trick has been found, however in the end you always end up either returning the Xbox back to MS for repairs or with a $300 dollar brick.

I understand how it feels to get a broken product and having to return it, hell, in two weeks i should be getting my 7th repaired Xbox 360 console back from MS, so yeah, it suck, but it must be done.

I would still recommend the DSTT to my friends, but i would advise them to get it from a local seller or from places that test them before shipping and have a good item returning policy.

I brought the dstt back to the store after 3 weeks but they rejected my return due to the warranty they offered is only 7 days. I did try tape method but still doesn't work. Propably, I'll try to break open the case to look at it some time as the dstt is just a garbage to me now.

I remember the first time I received the dstt, it cannot read the micro SD card and come out with a sad face logo. So I bought another micro SD (the one I am using) card and it worked. Now, it doesn't work and go to regular DS menu with "NO SD card" sign.

Let's see, Canada, a bricks-and-mortar establishment...

have a look at http://www.consumer.ca/ and see if anything there helps.

I have no idea what the situation is in Canada, but in many other countries it's pretty damn hard to disclaim the implied warranties of Merchantability and Fitness-for-Purpose. It's arguable that an item that fails after just three weeks is neither of merchantable quality nor fit for its purpose.

Often, the threat of getting a day's worth of their time taken up in a dispute resolution hearing is enough to make a retailer do things to make you go away - like replace the defective item. If it does go to a hearing, though, make sure the TF you take in with you is full of homebrew so you can keep the moral high-ground. That shouldn't be a problem though - that is why you bought it, right?
