I caught sight of this topic and wanted to say "welcome." The title reminds me of how I lurked for ages before actually signing up. In fact, I think I was in my teens, when I first discovered these forums. Good times.

I have to admit that I have little Pokemon experience. I've seen some of the anime, and I played a little of the original GB game, but that's about it. Like Dragon Ball Z, I live vicariously through the passionate fanbase.

Ah ok no worries, you should definitely get into pokemon man. I recommend starting with emulating the games you used to play. In fact the thing that brought me to Pokemon, was the Pokemon GO launch of July 2016. In my city everyone was outside playing and it got me playing too. I was playing with my friends and neighbors outside and we used to trade and battle pokemon, fun times. After that I started to lose interest and played only here and there and got my account banned with a bunch of rare and shiny pokemon because I got caught hacking on it lmao. Then in 2022 the release of Scarlet and Violet caught my attention because it was going viral for being super buggy at launch. I loved the artwork of the box art and the S/V edition of the switch so I saved up my money and bought a 3DS and a switch with all the available pokemon games for it, and I've been addicted ever since. S/V was my first real pokemon game that I played and beat and after that I decided to go for White 2, those gotta be my most favorite pokemon games of all time. But yeah, I hope you get back into it if it is really for you.

Interesting story. It sounds like your interest had waned so much you didn't even care about the ban. At least you had a good time connecting with people in the neighborhood.
