Like all kind of cheats you have to put it in the proper directory for cheats... And Ingame, I would say, try to check one or more and look if something happens
There are all kind of cheats so it depends which one you are going for what you have to do... I would say, easiest go into the chronical mode in a match and activate one of the Soccer Match cheats and see if it is working... On the first page I tried to describe what nearly each cheat does

@LaMano Regarding Victory Stones, if you didn't know, they gave us one for 9th of December's daily gift: does it mean now you could add them to the item cheats since you have one?

In chapter 7 you can recruit a lot of players and with this cheat you only speak with them and you skip the requirements

Speed of all objects will be increased otherwise it was not possible or depends which character you are controlling at the moment and sometimes speed increase was only for you companions/followers and not your character

The Galaxy GO chronicle has already been confirmed and it's version 2.0, so it won't do any good. You have to update when the game is 100% complete with all the updates; it's easier to do that than doing it little by little. Just a tip
