PS1/2 When did PS2 emulation get so good?

actually it depends more on the cpu then the GPU.

Btw Dreamcast emulation is insanely good. My crappy pc can play most games at 60 fps even shenmue. (nulldc)

Ps2 is still slow at the moment.

Yup

My weak ass 3800+ can run a crap load of games for the PS2, and with the average processing speed of desktops increasing, upgrading PCs for these games is a moot point. For $80 (cost of PS2), I could get a new processor that would play almost all of the games, and give me the ability to have savestates, any controller I want, ect, ect.

PS2 emulation uses the CPU almost exclusively, GPU power is not a limiting factor with any CPU. As long as it is DX9, you will be fine.

I have PCSX2 .9.4 and .9.5, the newest GSDx graphics plugin, newest ZeroSPU sound plugin, and the rest standard (what comes with it)

Nevermind I was using a DVD I had patched.I tried a unpatched game and it worked fine.

I have always preferred playing on the actual machines, than playing emulators ... but I do see the appeal ... I run a couple of emulators, but only to play games I simply cannot buy for the machines I have ... due to rarity, or cost.

Won't have much problems except maybe the initial setup as I also have Vista and got an unexpected error or two.

Just remember to get the latest sound and graphics plugins, I would leave the latter on default and adjust the sound speed as needed. Use the CPU configuration to skip frames if it is slow.

Not unless you already meet the requirements and don't have a Ps2.

But Ps2's so common now. I think I'd just borrow it from someone instead.

Well you can play pirated PC games with an upgraded computer.
I have a PS3, but I don't like PS2 games being region locked, nor having to void A/S in order to do the switch mod (Voiding PS3 A/S to play PS2 games isn't really worth it, is it?)
I do really want to play A.C.E.3. I might try that on emulator, or perhaps switch mod my PS3 the day I install custom firmware on it.

Well, I've gotten Naruto Accel 2 to run sorta good.

Runs at like 80% speed most of the time. I'd prefer 100%, but I guess I won't get it

Specs are:

E2180 @ 2GHz non-overclocked
Gainward BLISS 8800GT 512mb
2GB GeIL 800MHz DDRII RAM
ASUS P5K-R Mobo

Those are the most important specs for the emulator, don't think I need to list my case, etc

Well, I got me a bios now and if I apply it (using the open button in the browser dialogue) it shows a command and another window, but then pscx2 crashes after executing then the thing closes without a warning or anything.

Any Pointers where to get help, or what to configure ?

I got nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5250 which is able to run N64 Games just fine ^^.

The new Black Macbooks have astounding processing speeds (2.4) and 2gb of ram. Assuming I am using Boot camp to natively run Windows XP (Not emulated, so not slowed down.), do you think it would be possible to run either of the Ps2 emulators at decent speeds? (I know very little about the Macbooks graphics card.)

First off all, the fact that you are using bootcamp will slow it down alot. Mac does have superior CPU, but PS2 emulation will be heavily graphic card based, which x86 machine is better at.

You just need something that supports DX9. I have a 3800+ and X1950, it uses my CPU 100%. It's by far the most limiting factor.
