OLED Switch Lite display kits to go on sale September 26th

The little brother to Nintendo’s flagship hardware, the Switch Lite released in 2019 to positive reviews. With all the power of the full-sized console at a lower cost, along with integrated controls and a traditional D-Pad, the system positioned itself as a perfect fit for those wanting to travel light. This portability came at a price though, with the system unable to dock for a full console experience. Nintendo went onto release the OLED Switch two years later, leaving some fans of the smaller form factor hoping their system of choice might be graced with such an upgrade. No such revision came, but fans of the Lite may yet be in luck.

Teased earlier this year by YouTuber Taki Udon, SUPER5 is an OLED display kit for the Switch Lite. Starting at just $49.99 for those of you not needing touch input, it promises to deliver on a simple to install OLED display for the portable system, with peak brightness, sRGB coverage, and contrast ratio set to beat out the official Switch OLED. This alone would be noteworthy, but for those happy to spend a little extra, 1080p HDMI output is also on the cards.

You can find the full list of available kits below:
Each of the upgrade kits are set to go on sale September 26th at 10am Hong Kong time. Promo coupons will be available for the first two days to reduce the price by $5 to $10, though there’s no word on exactly how many kits will be available. An installation guide will also go live later this week to assist potential buyers.

Come on, man... Be serious. By the price you can get a Lite and this... thing, you can get an OLED outright.

This can only be justified when your screen is broken, and even there, I'd look at Aliexpress first.

I'd be surprised if there's any discernable demand for it.

What benefit does the OLED have anymore after this besides being much bigger? If you want to lug that around then go for it but some people prefer portability and the Lite feels a lot more comfortable in some people's hands.

pay $109 for the mega kit than throw your money down the drain once you get drift (and the lite does) because tendo will not fix a modded switch! :rofl2:
If you know how to replace the screen, you likely also know how to fix the drift, or at least how to temporarily address it every year or so when the problem arises.

never upgraded a tv or monitor before? plus, I'm sure you can sell your screen on ebay for a little bit.

the point is this makes the lite much more desirable to play on. you should look at the comparisons.
People on here sure LOVE to complain about niche products they refuse to understand the niche usecase and are clearly not the market for

I've been waiting for this. Still need to find someone who can repair my Lite though...

Taki previously said the standard bezel colours would be available but it's currently just black or white (or just black, in the case of the preinstalled version), and my Switch Lite is yellow, so I'll have to wait for them to sell a yellow version. I could change the colour but I quite like the yellow as-is.
EDIT: They're still coming, it's on his Twitter: https://x.com/TakiUdon_/status/1835254309598203909

Honestly, the Switch Lite is a much nicer handheld (non-existent ergonomics aside, so I had to get a grip for it) than the regular Switch, and the Switch OLED looks like hell to mod, so I think this is a nice additional extra.

Also, it's worth adding that Taki previously said on Twitter that every OLED screen will come with a pair of hall effect sticks. I assume this remains true since that was only a month or two ago.

I think only the mega kit got the stick, at least that's what listed on the product page. I pre-ordered the mega kit and got a switch lite with a broken screen for cheap. I'm expecting to receive it by December. Hope it pushes through.

Yeah, that seems to be the case, but he originally said that all of them would come with the sticks, so maybe that's something to ask him about.
He did say they're planning to have these available indefinitely, so I'm in no rush to pre-order. Hopefully we get a preview of how the HDMI mod works soon. It says no shell modification necessary, so I'm wondering if they've managed to tie it into the USB-C port somehow. I doubt it'll be possible but if they've found a way to even make it dockable (granted, it still won't physically fit in the official dock), that'd be amazing.

If I had to choose, I'd rather have a working touchscreen over a color-matching bezel.
On the Hyrule edition, a black bezel shouldn't look too bad, since all buttons and sticks are also black.

Yes but I want the touch version, and those are still coming. I'm fine waiting anyway.
I linked Taki's tweet above where he mentions this.
actually same, i thought they weren't coming, I'll wait it out then, id prefer to get one with touch function as well,

I'm assuming the golden color version is for the Zelda Hyrule edition right??

aww dang thats a bummer,
i might have to opt for the non touch gold version as i just bought a Zelda Hyrule edition xd

or id have to be content with black bezels x gold not sure how thatd look..
id prefer matching colors, might have to go non touch for that ...
Decisions decisions
Losing function doesn't feel great even though you're not gonna use it much 😅
