I have a V1 Switch that I plan on repairing. I'm also giving the old pair of Joycons to one of my brothers, and one reason why is that I want a better pair of Joycons.

I've been thinking of aiming towards getting either the NYXI Hyperion controllers or their Pro model counterparts, but I had a feeling that there might be some other controllers out there that might be better picks.

So here I am, asking people on a gaming forum for Joycon alternative recommendations.

My requirements are:

1. They must work in the same way as original Joycons. (Being usable in both TV and Handheld mode.)

2. They have to be the same price as official Joycons ($80) or lower.

3. They should be at least somewhat more comfortable than the original ones.

Although not required, I do want these controllers to have:

1. Gyro, like the originals.

2. Wireless connectivity, like the originals.

3. Extra features not seen on the originals, like: Turbo, Paddles, and/or Lights.

I'm not sure if this belongs here or not since it's a non-hacking question, but it is a Switch related question so I think it might be safe to ask.

Thanks in advance!

AKNES Gulikit KK3 Max is a great controller when playing docked (not considered joy-cons) but Mobapad M6HD is my current daily joy-cons, they're so awesome I'm looking into getting a joy-con adapter to use them with my Android!

Absolutely no for me on that one. PS5 sticks get drifting bad enough just from using with the PS5. Using it for two consoles is bound to cause it to happen much sooner.
Not a big deal when hall effect sensor easily turns this shortcoming around and make PS5 controller best value and control across all platform IMO

"Easily" is quite subjective (and yes, I did see the IMO part :) ) They aren't just pretty much drop them in and away you go like with Joycons. DualSense requires soldering skills which not everyone has.

I personally use a DualSense controller to play on PC, and I haven't noticed any drifting issues. Damn good controller, that.

Haven't noticed it... yet. ;) It's a well known and widespread problem. I believe the time frame in which it happens is also dependent on what types of games a person plays. Mine started after roughly a year of first use and after having playing several hours of Hades.

I'll consider. They look almost exactly like the Mobapad M6HD, though. What's the price?

Get a decent grip like the Skull & Co GripCase. All the 3rd party Joycons are missing features like NFC and HD Rumble, often missing wireless, worse battery life, etc. A grip goes a long way and you can get a custom shell with D-pad for the left JoyCon and hall effect sticks and that would be the ultimate setup IMO.

Batman Arkham Knight, SMT3 Nocturne HD, the Ratchet & Clank trilogy (PCSX2), and others. Nothing too stick-strenuous like Hades likely would be.

Mobapad M6HD has NFC and HD rumble (same Alps modules as OG joycon), wireless, d-pad, Hall Effect sticks. It's only missing the IR camera and Home button LED. And they may be over the OP's budget. The cheaper M6S has cheaper buttons and eccentric-weight rumble instead of HD, but still has NFC and Hall Effect sticks. My M6HDs have replaced my previous Binbok fatjoycon.
I only use my original joycon for Ring Fit (for the IR camera and compactness in the leg strap and attached to the ringcon) and Skyward Sword (swapped over so I use my left hand for motion control [why isn't this an option in the game or system? Okami has it.], with buttons remapped. In this niche case the fatter shape is LESS ergonomic).

I'll admit, that actually looks good.
Shame about the IR camera, Wario Ware uses it.

I have two pairs of original joycons with the hall effect joysticks no drift i highly recommend buying used joycons with drift issues they are cheap and replacing the joysticks with the hall effect ones my joycons are now one of the best controllers i have owned.

My personal recommendation are the Nyxi Wizard series and/or the Nyxi Warrior series, they resemble the NGC gamepads (the best gamepad design in decades imho) and are very comfortable to use.

They're a little big if comparing them with the joycons, but they offer almost the same characteristics except for the NFC reading. The Warrior series also have HD Rumble which only a few third party controllers have, they can be used on Switch, NGC, Wii and Windows, while the Wizard can only be used on Switch only.
